Oh! Have you tried the Mock Mushrooms yet?
    DEElicious! Highly recommended!
If you like/can eat spicy food and want to "kick it up a notch" add your favorite hot sauce when you're mixing it up.
I also found it's better to let it stand a few minutes before starting to cook so the crackers will soak up a little of the liquids. :wavey:

    Good morning all,

Another cool day. I'm wondering if fall has arrived...

We have started our homeschooling a little early this year. We're not on a strict schedule until after Labor Day though. Brent always finishes early in the spring, so I don't worry too much about starting early.

Fortunately, Illinois is one of the states that does not have a certain number of days he must homeschool each year, so that makes for an even freer schedule. School is out for the summer when he has completed his curriculum for the year.

    Time for coffee,

    Good Morning Everyone!

I've been on several times this morning, but I kept interrupting myself! Just realized I hadn't yet posted.

I'm trying to get caught up on several things I've been neglecting and I'm just about to accomplish just that. Still have gp cages to clean and the upstairs bathroom to run through. Then I can vacuum the house and relax, though I may add baking a cheesecake to my list. Chris has been wanting one. T was supposed to make it this weekend but didn't get to it. I've been considering it, but may just find something simpler and easier to do. Maybe a bundt cake. I'll figure it out soon!

Supper's in the crockpot and smell so good I'm starving and it's only lunchtime! Tonight's the Children's Choir and Missions kickoff at church so I had to cook something we could eat as each of us had time. Chris has to be at church at 5, Jenna at 5:30 and Cassie and I don't have to be there till 6:30ish. We could have eaten at church but that would leave T hungry, not to mention that I can't get by buying children's meals at church anymore and mostly they only pick at the adult meal.

I still haven't tried the mock mushrooms. Then again, this is the first real meal I've really cooked in quite a while. We've just been throwing down whatever was handy since I started the bathroom business. It'll be nice to have some real food for a change even if we are eating at different times.

Gonna go check out the rest of the BB and then get back at it!

    Greetings all! :wavey:
    I am still around.
It's gotten busy around here, seems I have to actually work most of the time  .

A friend of mine just sent me pictures of some baby squirrels that were abandoned on her property. She and her daughter are taking them to the wildlife refuge nearby where they will raise them until they are old enough to fend on their own. They are so cute! Like little mice with bushy tails.

Why that made me think of you guys, I'll never know.....

Well, Debby. It's either because of BH (our security guard) or you think we're all a little nuts.

Cindi: I'm about ready for some more Mock Mushrooms myself. I made Salmon patties for supper tonight and tomorrow night it's Hotdog casserole, and it's delicious too! (think chili, tortillas, hotdogs and shredded cheese)

    Pleasant dreams all!

    Morning all:

It's been a long night here. I couldn't get to sleep very easily, and didn't stay asleep very long. But, I'm awake, have had breakfast and coffee already, kissed the wife good-bye and sent her off to work, have answered most of my emails and am finishing up on my posting on the forums that I post on. The only things left to do are post on the blog(s), clean the bathrooms and try to fix the kitchen faucet again. That crazy thing came apart last night and the whole middle is up and out of the base. We're probably just going to go and buy a new one tonight. I'm tired of messing with this one. Two years worth of continued problems with it, and now a consistant drip of water every 10-15 seconds. We want to opt for a faucet with the handles for hot and cold instead of the one that has the control in the middle on the spigget.

Hope all is going well with y'all.

Anyone have an easy, yet great recipe for fudge that will set up nicely in the fridge? Or, how about brittle of any kind?? I'm trying some recipe's before Christmas so that I can send family and friends gift packets, and I've not kept up on my candy making skills.

Make it a great day. :)

    Bro. T

    Good morning all,

It is another pleasant, beautiful fall??? morning here with an expected high of 83 this afternoon. We may get some rain tonight.

Tony, I have a recipe for microwave peanut brittle, but I don't do fudge!

Pollen count is almost 10 here so I will probably stay inside while Brent mows the grass. It is always wet with dew in the mornings now, so he will do some school work first - until it dries.

I had to improvise on our smoothies last night because the only fruit we had was one banana. I added extra yogurt, ice cubes, milk, chocolate syrup and Splenda. I think it was the best one we've had yet!

    Time for coffee,

likewise here, a lovely morning. Cooler, but warming up as the day progresses. The apples on the trees are beginning to soften a little suggesting they are ripening early. We must get our heavy work done before noon.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Good Morning Everyone!

Haven't gotten a thing done this morning except hopefully finding out why the check engine light came on in the car I'm driving. Appears it was a broken gas cap. The car belongs to T's grandfather who is no longer allowed to drive. It hasn't been driven regularly for a while so I guess no one noticed there was something wrong with the gas cap. I wasn't the last person to put gas in, so I went to check that it was tight and it came apart in my hand. I'm surprised the light wasn't on way before now.

I'd get started but Cass is supposed to call me from school and tell me how her migraine is doing and whether or not she needs a shot. This is the worst migraine she has had in a while. It was picture day so she didn't want to miss, but she was in tears when I got her up this morning. She spent yesterday in bed with the monster.

Anyhow, I hate to get elbow deep in cleaning something and then have to leave it. So I'm waiting.....

    Afternoon Everybody,

Well, since I wasn't here for breakfast, allow me to bring in lunch.

There is fresh cantoulope, homemade chicken and bisquits, and Strawberry Shortcake with fresh, handpicked this morning, strawberries with coffee and tea, and the fixins for smoothies. Enjoy.

We got a call from my Wife's uncle in Texas this morning. He has been called to pastor a Baptist church about 40 miles from Lufkin, TX.

Not much going on here. It's hot (mid 80's) and humid.

Sean is at Physical Therapy, and the other four grandkids are outside playing. School doesn't start here until after labor Day, so they're still trying to squeeze in as much fun time as they can.

It's time for Lunch, and I'm not shy about being the first at the table.

Have any researchers actually looked into the cause of migraines? I have never seen so many suffering from these headaches, and especially so many children in one family.

    Cheers,

Yes, Jim there has been much research on the causes and treatment of migranes.

The triggers are so numerous, and varied. Certain foods(ham & gluten), a change in the weather (the low pressure of storms), and heriditary factors have all been studied.

The medications we have today are a far cry from what we used to have. I'm beginning to wonder if being in the coffeehouse might also be a factor.

Bitsy, Cindi's kids, Sue, and I all battle migraines.

    If you've never had one-count your blessings.

I'm a used to be migraine sufferer. I don't know if sleep apnea has anything to do with them, but since I've been on the c-pap and oxygen, I have only had a handful.

    Gibby,

I've never heard of that connection before. I'm also on a c-pap for sleep apnea(setting is at 20#).

Maybe that might be of some help to me. When I get a migraine I'm wiped out. Seems like I've been getting more of them lately. I'll talk to my doc about another evaluation, maybe there needs to be an adjustment.

Thanks for the tip buddy, I owe 'ya one!

Ron, how did you know I'd be starving and ready for lunch by the time I got back from the doctor's office? Mmmmm!

Jim there's been lots of studying, but so far no one cause for everyone's migraines. Lot's of us have triggers in common, but there is yet to be one certain thing (gene, defect, bateria etc) that can be pointed to that says if you have this you will have migraines.

Not only, but the effects of migraine on folks can vary widely. Even between my two kids there is a big difference in frequency and pain level, not to mention triggers.

Chris' migraine this week appeared to be caused by the weather, as a storm system came through. Cass' migraine is being triggered by something at school, but we can't figure out just what. She hasn't had to have a shot for hers in several months, until today, but it has been building since school started last Thursday.

Gotta go get the other two from school.....

Thanks. I am very fortunate. I didn't even have a headache when I suffered my strokes, which was a mystery to my physicians.

Wife used to have them regularly,,so-called normal headaches, not migraines, but they too went away with her sleep machine....now I am awake all night listening to the machine (just kidding). She used to snore badly too.

I was not critical, just interested. I haven't looked into migraines at all.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Ya put your whole self in, ya put your whole self out...and ya shake it all about....

I used to suffer from migraines too. And my vision would also be messed up. I thought I had a brain tumor until I was diagnosed and got medication. I have not had one in 7 years. I have no idea what changed it.
