If one can tell the professional physician what the ailment is, why trouble to go?

I shall try that the next time I visit my physician; "Doc, you have a choice of these three options....A..B..or C." I know that he would give me instant directions........."go home and don't come back...I am far too busy to mess about!"

It is like personal counselling...They have all the answers and that is why they are sitting in your office for counselling.

I don't claim to be a Doctor, Jim; but with 2 kids and 4 grandkids, I've seen enough strep to spot the symptoms.
I could have very easily been wrong, that's why I went to him to diagnose, identify, and treat.

 

annsni, I thought I was the only one weird enough to ask to watch my own c-section!

My doctor told me no though, and said "We don't need you passing out on the operating table." Really struck me as funny at the time! I can just picture all these people standing there in surgery around a patient going "oh no, passed out cold!" Isn't that usually the way you prefer them to be when they're being cut open?!

 

We're gonna differ on that one! I panic when it's my own child.

But other people? That kind of stuff is neat. I remember when I was about 9 years old, one of my brothers accidentally cut his wrist with an exacto knife and a tendon thingie popped out. Every time he moved his index finger it would come out, then when he put the finger back in position, it would straighten up. The adult in the house? Almost passed out looking at it, turned all white. LOL In the meantime me and him were looking at how moving different ways made it move different ways too.

One thing I think I would really enjoy would be dissecting a human cadaver. We did some dissection in biology and I found it fascinating. I've always enjoyed taking stuff apart to see how it works, and the ultimate piece of work is the human body. And God didn't even use glue or copper coils! I'm definitely impressed.

 

Looks to me like some (read Geener) folks are watchin too much CSI.
It's official now...we moved out of the cave era into Broadband territory. I never knew this piece of antiquated machinery could move this fast. Only took me bout 30 mins to update everything instead of hours!!
Also means BH can mess up my typing a WHOLE lot faster!!!!! Though i have found a way to distract her...just lay some newer quarters around & she spends her time collecting them & burying in various parts of the house! At least we won't be broke...if'n we can find them!

 

You're in luck Gina. CBS has announced a new entry into the CSI family starting mid-season.

It's called CSI: - - - - - - (put in your most hated Southern city or state)

It will be a little different then the other CSIs, because the folks in this Southern city or state all have the same DNA, and due to lack of sufficient evidence, dental records wouldn't be useful for anything. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

 

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is fall festival day at Jenna's elementary school. We'll be headed that way here pretty soon. It's a yearly event with the proceeds going to support the school. We've done some pretty good stuff with it over the years. New playgrounds, security system, inside cable system complete with "TV broadcasting" ability (internal only) and new computers. This is one way our school gets all the nice extras we've been able to enjoy. It should be quite a fun day and it will be the end of fundraising for the year! Yay!

The problem with Cassie is leading us to a meeting on Monday morning. The principal seemed quite concerned that this happened and has assured me that things aren't as bad as Cass thinks they are. So we'll see and I've let my temper cool for the moment.

How is the patient today? Sue, I would imagine that after the pressure bandage was removed you experienced "the rubber band effect"[ the pressure was gone, and you were bouncing all over the place:smilewinkgrin: ]

Sorry I'm late getting in, but our church is having a Women's Conference, it started last night and continues today. The President of the Women's Ministry asked me,as a personal favor to her, if I could prepare something for them. So I prepared three appetizers, and three desserts[actually it as six desserts: 3-with sugar, and 3-without; gotta be fair to everybody. I delivered the dishes-and helped set up. It turned out that they were going to be short an appetizer, so I stopped at the store and got 4 doz. eggs, then went home and threw together(almost literally) Honey- Mustard and Herb Stuffed Eggs, then headed back to church. I made it with 15 mins. to spare. *Whew*

I'm tired. I brought in Grilled Virginia Ham & Smoked
Turkey Sandwiches with Banana-Pepper Slaw for lunch. Enjoy. I'm going to take a nap before the Michigan State/Michigan Game this afternoon.

It's part of a frustration with the American medical system.
I can understand FOG knowing what the ailment was.

When my kids were little, they had constant ear infections and strep.
You get to know the symptoms. But many doctors won't prescribe medicine for the 4th person in the family to come down with the same symptoms unless they see them. And then you pay the doctor's bill.

There have been times that a simple round of strep in our family was hundreds of dollars in medical bills. Although after the first person in the family, we knew what we had when we went in there.

 

In Canada it is illegal to prescribe drugs for someone the physician has not examined. They could lose their licence.

My daughter, in Florida, will not prescribe drugs for anyone unseen either..too much liability in the US,,,sue crazy!

Just letting you know I'm here and NOT replying with a snappy comeback, although you managed to set yourself up for one quite nicely!

My grandfather passed away about 11 last night. I'd appreciate prayers for my family, and the funeral, and for the process of dividing the inheritence/estate (everything goes 5 ways to his 5 children, but as you know that can still be complicated ...)

 

Hmmm, there have been times when our doc has treated all the kids after one of them has come down with strep. She's says it's the only way to be sure it doesn't pass from one to the other. Then again, infections are a leading cause of migraine in this family so a round of amoxicillin is a reasonable precaution.

Thankfully, strep isn't something we get often. Instead, they get nasty viruses that they just have to suffer through.

Anyone notice how much the price of candy has gone up this year? What's with that? The dentists must be behind it! They want to cut back on the sugary loot the kids haul home from fall activities.

My kids have..............FLOAM! Playdoh isn't good enough anymore. This stuff looks like tiny styrofoam balls in clear playdoh and it's way, way more expensive. Of course, being the cheapo I am, I made mine wait until they found some reasonably priced on clearance before I let them spend their own money on it. It is keeping them busy. Well, it's keeping Chris and Jenna busy. Cass is off to Nanny's spending the night.

Mark the calandar! Today is the 4th day in a row that no one has had a migraine! :applause:

It's been a lovely day. The fall festival at school went very well. The weather's been perfect and I treated myself to the new WOW 2007 CD and so far it is great. The only downside to the day was how much I spent on groceries. But, it had to be done and it included the above candy complaint. I have hidden the candy! The kids were already trying to get into it.
