I recognized Windsor Castle right away.
When I first looked at the one with the carriage, I wondered if the woman in black was Queen Mary. Do you remember what year the photo was taken?

    Gayla,

I believe those photos were taken in the 70's...Can't remember what year cos I went over for a month every year. Mary says they were 1976,,,March,,,,that might have been the Queen Mum in the carriage, waiting for the Queen.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I was thinking about Jonah to-day. It was not that he rebelled against God. It was not that he ran off to sea. It was not that he was thrown overboard by the sailors. It was not that he was swallowed by a huge fish. It was not that he was spit out in a safe place. It was not that he obeyed and preached to the Ninevites. It was that God never left him alone.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Good observation, Jim!

He never leaves US alone either, does he? :godisgood:

Busy day today. I will try to pop in more often tomorrow.

    Good morning all,

I would feel bad about talking to myself, but I do it all the time, so I'm used to it. :tongue3:

The weather is going to be warm this week so, hopefully, the outside work will get finished.

It is foggy and 45º this morning, heading for a sunny and 60º afternoon. I sure wish it could stay that way all winter in my neck of the woods!

I can't put it off any longer. I have GOT to go grocery shopping TODAY for the ingredients to make Christmas 'goodies'!!! :BangHead:

    Time for surfing and coffee,

    Good Morning Everybody,

I feel better today than I did yesterday, It was an effort to do anything yesterday. I brought in Filled Apple Breakfast Cake, South of the Border Quiche Squares, Peach and Sausage Waffles, and Oven Breakfast Hash. Enjoy.

On Election Day I always take lunch, and dinner over to the polling place for the election workers. It's hard for them to take time to eat and still do their job. We live in a small town, and everybody literally knows everybody else in town. It's just my small way of thanking them for making time to make sure that everything works like it's supposed to when we vote.

Tonight is our monthly small-group potluck. I'm making Easy Bistro Chicken, Stuffed Mushrooms, Walnut Maple Pie, and Blueberry Bread Pudding.

My Wife and I both have doctors appointments today, and after that I have to do my chores, and start cooking.

Somebody once asked me how I can cook all the time, and not hate doing it. Simple, Cooking relaxes me and I don't prepare a meal for myself..I always prepare it with either my family or dinner guests in mind. The guest is the jewel on the cushion of hospitality and it's the host's responsibility to make sure that they have good food, a relaxing atmosphere, and conversation that involves the guest's interests. The best compliment I can receive after a meal is a belch...it means the meal was enjoyed, not tolerated.

    Time to get busy.

    Good Morning Everyone!

I can't tell if I'm sleepy this morning of if I'm just lazy! Ha! Actually I feel pretty good today so I'm about to get up and get at it. Got to find something with protein in it to eat first. My sugar is bad off today and the granola bars I ate are giving me the shakes. I wouldn't have eaten them if I had realized. I've put on some bacon to cook, so that should take care of the problem.

Got to vote today! Alabama's not all big in the national scheme of things, but there are several local issues to be dealt with, including one sneaky attempt to raise my property taxes by taking a statewide vote instead of keeping it in the county. Hopefully, voters across the state will see ammendment 2 as the farce that it is! (this is the pet peave of my day. :D )

Besides voting, my day will be filled with housecleaning (really now, the groceries have to be put away, they've sat on the dining room floor for 2 days already!), karate and sewing. I'll try to be in more today than yesterday but don't count on it.

Ya'll have a good one and don't get washed away in all this rain! My pool has a good 4 inches of rain in it that wasn't there yesterday. Course part of the increase may be because of all the leaves that have blown in in the last two days. I don't wanna scoop leaves.......

Good day! It is overcast outdoors and a little rainy. I can see why people call them "gray" days. That is OK, I have plenty of indoor work to do, but it does not include either laundry, housecleaning or shopping. Monday is my day off, but I missed it yesterday, so I am taking it to-day. Hard to keep up with these things at my age.......

    Cheers,

    Jim

It was supposed to be cloudy and icky here today but it's beauiful and warm! DH and I took our inflatable dinhy, rowed out to the boat (the docks are being pulled today for the winter so there are no launches to take us out anymore) and we brought the big boat to a local marina to store for the winter. We're keeping it in the water because it's like 1/2 the price and it should be fine. I'm so happy that job is done. Now just to winterize the engine, drain all of the water and blow out any pipes, winterize the bathrooms (they're called heads) and then cover the whole thing - then we're totally done. But, in the meantime, DH is going to use it as his office for now while it's nice out. :D It's way too busy and such at church - not allowing him time to plan his college group tonight so getting someplace quiet is important for him.

The rest of today will be homeschooling and food shopping. I'm chasing the kids out of the house now so they can get some fresh air, and we'll be doing some school work this evening. :D

    Have a great day everyone!

    Ann

Well, I didn't get my ingredients bought, but tomorrow is another day. <sigh>

I made homemade Cream of Potato soup for supper but Brent and I got hungry and ate it all for lunch!

I did get to Walgreen's for some sale items and I made it to the post office, but then we came home and helped Grandpa put the icicle lights along the eaves of the house.

I'm trying to stay awake to watch the election results, but I don't think I'm going to make it. I will just have to find out who won in the morning.

    My eyelids are drooping...

    Pleasant dreams all!

    Morning Gang,
Figured I'd stop by fore layin back down. Took Agee to work & just can't seem to get rid of this cold. BH is doin poorly again too. Lost use of her left back leg, drags it constantly. She's rubbed the hair off of part of it. Still wants to climb & stuff, but has to have my help lately.
Supposed to get more rain today, with temps in the upper 50's. I wouldn't mind it if not for this cold.
Be back as time permits! Have a Blessed Day!!

    Good morning all,

Preacher: Get well soon (and BH too)!

It is going to be a beautiful day, but right now it is so foggy, I can hardly see past the front window!

School this morning, grocery store this afternoon (at least that is the plan)...

    Time for coffee,

Oh, Preacher! I'm sorry! If I were near you, I'd bring you my chicken soup with lots of garlic - it definately clears up colds! LOL!! I have to say, using zinc helps get rid of colds so quickly - you should get yourself Zicam, Emergen-C or Airborne for the next cold - it cuts it down to a 2-3 day episode! My friend is an orthopedic surgeon and he says that all of the doctors swear by it!

As for BH, I'm so sorry for him!! I hope this is just a little set back and not something more serious.

Today should prove to be a relatively quiet day for us. My little one has preschool and we have homeschooling to do. I'll pick up the teens from school and my 14 year old has her physical today, then after all that, we're home. My oldest is going away tomorrow for a few days with her tambourine/dance worship team for some additional training and assessments, so we'll lose her until Sunday afternoon. I hope they do well.

So that's it in a nutshell! Oh, I WAS going to be riding but it's raining now so I don't think that's going to happen - I'll go tomorrow then.

    Good Morning Everybody,

Sue: Hope you like the sugar cookie recipe. Do you get a special postal rate because you're a "bulk mailer?" I don't know if that is because of the amount of mail you send...or the calories that result from your Christmas gifts. :tongue3:

Breakfast today is hot banana bread, eggs, sausage gravy, bisquits, bacon, and fresh fruit cups. The homemade jams are on the counter, the coffee is made, and the water is hot for tea.

Today I've got to clean the carpet after I do my chores.

I just have this horrible feeling that while Sue is making her Christmas cookies that she is going to react like a bunch of sugared-up seven-year-olds on a sleepover. :D

I bake with Splenda, so a sugar 'high' is very unlikely. :tongue3:

We just got home from church and are each eating a piece of the pumpkin pie I made today (with Splenda). It is delicious!!!

I still haven't made it to the store! :BangHead:

    Tomorrow, tomorrow, there's always tomorrow............

    Good Morning Everyone!

I love Splenda! It is sooo nice to be able to bake again without worrying so much about T's sugar levels! And, this one doesn't seem to give the kids migraines (although I'm about to take Cassie off it and see if it will stop her current round. She drinks alot of sprite zero---wait, end that thought. Sprite zero is sweetened with aspertame, I think I found our problem. I had the idea it was sweetened with splenda. She is going to have to change what she drinks. I've known forever that aspertame gives her migraines. This would explain the odd migraines that don't seem to be following a pattern. Now I'm aggravated. I can't believe I didn't double check what she was drinking. :( She and I are going to have to have a chat. )

Anyhow, I'm taking it easy this morning due to some health problems that showed themselves last night. I HATE taking it easy, especially when I have things I want to do!

The only thing I really have to do is call the high school. Cass is supposed to take a "mastery" test in algebra today. She has to take this test before she goes on to the next section, which starts Monday, and she has a migraine. Don't know what will happen if she doesn't make it today so I have to call and find out. Not a good choice: take test with migraine, or take test late and be behind in the next section before she even gets started.

    I better go call...........

    Good morning all,

I've been up since 5:00 waiting for someone else to post first. I get tired of telling myself good night and good morning. Thanks, Cindi!

Brent is having an easy day of school, so we are going to check out the thrift shops today. We have 3 that we frequent weekly. Two are Christian and the other one benefits hospital auxillary projects (hospice, etc.).

They make money when I buy from them and I make money when I resell on ebay. It's a good deal all around!

    HAGD!

Good afternoon all! Can I just say, I WANT ONE WHOLE DAY WHERE I DON'T NEED TO LEAVE THE HOUSE!!!!!! I'm so tired of everything else getting in the way of me homeschooling and getting this dump cleaned up. GRRRRR!!!!

    Whew - that feels better!!

So, today was the mom's group that I started at church for the new moms 2 years ago (we had 8 moms who all had babies within 6 months of each other - and they were all first-timers) and we met in the park. A beautiful day after rain yesterday and the kids had a nice time - until bully boy came on the scene. He pushed down one of the kids when I wasn't looking and then a bit later, I saw one of the 2 year olds on the ground and bully boy was on his hands and knees with a scowl on his face looking quite threatening to the little boy. I watched while he looked around and then took a swing at the 2 year old's face!!! I went right over, told him "You hit Liam and that was not nice. Where is your mother?" and he said "At work" while scowling at me. So I asked "Who brought you here?" and he said "My babysitter." "Where is she?".... "She went to get my brother." I looked around and wasn't sure who was there but I told him "I'm watching you. I want you to be nice to these babies." BTW - He's 5 and in kindergarten. So, after a little while, there was a sweet little one about 20 months old who went under the play equipment and sat down and bully boy came ripping across the playset, ran under there and socked the little one in the mouth - knocking her over!! I went right over (my friends were shocked at how quickly I responded but they all said they learned a good lesson on how to intervene in things like this), took the boy by the arm, pulled him out, stood him up (gently) and told him "Let's go find your babysitter. You are NOT to hit little children - it is wrong." and I found the babysitter. Fortunately, the babysitter was nice and apologized immediately - and when the little boy said that I was lying she said "I'm going to believe the nice lady - not you." and she made him sit down for a good 10 minutes while he screamed. He eventually was allowed up and the babysitter came over, thanked me again and tailed the bully the rest of the time. What was funny was that he hooked on to my son who's 6 and they played nicely the rest of the time and then hugged by son goodbye when it was time to leave!! Honestly, though, if that babysitter was belligerant (like I've seen before), I would have honestly called the cops (we're in a tiny village and I know the cops here) - atleast it could have scared the little boy into possibly thinking "I can get into trouble by doing this.". It's sad how so many kids are acting nowadays.......

LOL - So, after that, I got Robby a haircut (he had such mop-head), and then we got home and just had lunch. So now we're going to finish up school before 3:30 when I go out to horseback ride. I'm hoping my 14 year old will make dinner (I'm sure she will) so that I dont' have to worry about that much - and then tonight is TV night!! Yeah!!

Menagerie - thank you for reminding me to call the high school. Lauren, my oldest, is away with the church tambourine worship team for a conference and I needed to call attendance and let them know why she's not in. Since it's a 'religious conference' it will count as an excused absense. :D Thanks for triggering my ever forgetful memory!!

    Ann
