"some" = an unknown number, and since Jim didn't make it in last night, blackbird you may have them. :saint:

    Good morning all,

It is much warmer today. 30º right now heading for a high of 49º! It was just two days ago... It feels like I am coming down with a cold or Bronchitis - I can't tell which yet. I wonder why everyone around here is sick, with the weather going back and forth so drastically.

I brought in some homemade Date Swirls this morning. The coffee is perking and the tea is steeping. Hot water is on the stove for hot cocoa.

    HAGD all!

    Good Morning Everybody,

    Thanks for breakfast Sue!

The Adult Christmas Party at church last night was great. Who says Christians don't know how to have fun?

The head of the deacons stood up in front and wanted to know who made the chocolate cream cake, the cherry-chocolate cake, and the chocolate sponge cake. I put my hand up [timidly - I was afraid that somebody had gotten sick on one of the desserts I'd brought in.] He then said that I was solely responsible for many members,as well as the Deacon Board ruining their diets. He said all this with a half-mad look on his face.

Then he laughed and said that it really was a matter of life and death. His Wife had told him she'd kill him if the didn't get the recipes for all three desserts. That got a big laugh, then he says okay Ladies, now that you know who made them - GO GET THE RECIPES!!

I'm afraid I'm in trouble. Now they're talking about reviving the Monthly Potlucks.

Time to run or I'll be late for church, I'll check in later.

See, I told you Rob!! Once they tasted your cooking...........

I'm just getting ready for church. I just put your Cola Chicken in the crockpot, Rob - I hope it's good! ;) We won't have the girls tonight for dinner because today is the last day of the play and they won't be home until around 11 or so (cast party is after the play), so it will just be Bob and the littles and I. I need the crockpot because I'm working the "Welcome Center" for the 3 pm play and I won't be home until about 5:30 - and then I need to be back up there at 6:30 - fast dinner!!

Oh - Joanna's ears are clear - but she has bronchitis. I KNEW something was up!! So back on zithromax for her. Atleast she's on the mend.

I'll talk to you all tomorrow. I don't think I'll be able to get back on the computer before then. Have a wonderful Sunday all!!

Don't worry Ann. As long as you're making it, I'm sure the Cola Chicken will meet your expectations.

You think I'm gonna argue with a Woman who is always right? I may be bi-polar, but I'm not stupid.

I had a phone call a few minutes ago from the Woman who looks after the dinners, potlucks, etc.

She said the response from the Adult Christmas Party was so good, that they're starting up the Wednesday Night Fellowship Meal again, she said what would I like to bring for the meal? I told her it was supposed to turn cold again by Wednesday,so how about a Chili-Supper? She said that she didn't know any good chili recipes[I am so dense. I don't believe I fell for this!] did I have any recipes I'd share.

I told her I had a recipe for Cincinnati-Style Chili that had been well received. She asked if I would make the chili for the Wednesday Night Meal. I asked how many we would be serving? She said that they had discontinued the meals several years ago because of lack of interest, but after the party last night she said I should plan on between 40-50.

Good Lord!, all I did was make three desserts! The other foods brought in to the party were great, and I'm going to ask for several recipes myself.

So I have to adjust my chili recipe to feed 40-50 people. I don't mind contributing a dish for a meal, but I'd like it not to be the only dish.

In the words of Jimmy Durante,"What a revoltin' development this is." I once gave someone on this Board advice about going to the Dentist. I told him, "You can't ever get into any trouble in a dentist's office...If you keep your mouth shut."

Guess that goes for IFB Churches too.

The reports of my demise are premature....I shall let you know instantly when it is fact..........

Much milder to-day, but I dress the same regardless of temperature,,,until spring has arrived for sure certain, as some would say.

I have been busy having a discussion with an old friend in Saskatchewan. We have been revisiting history and the good old days.

Oh, on feed. I opened a can of cream of chicken soup to-day and cooked it without adding water and milk,,,,lol,,,it was thick and delicious...I was tempted to make dumplins, but I ate the whole thing.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Rumors have it down here in Dixie --- you know --- Land of Cotton, Old times they are not forgotten --- look away --- look away --- look away --- Dixie Land

Anyway --- rumor still "has it" that Jim's Canada enjoys Spring and Summer --- all two days of it!!! Then the rest is white snow!!!

Though Blackbird's dream vacation for himself and his darlin' wife would be to tour Canada by rail --- on those two days of Spring and Summer, of course!!

    Good morning all,

We have fog and drizzle here this morning but at least it is warmer. The rain should get rid of a good amount of the snow still on the ground. It is 36º heading for a high of 45º.

I brought in a gingerbread cake (with cream cheese frosting) and coffee, tea, and cocoa are ready.

    Good Morning Everybody,

Hey Sue isn't Spring great? We're supposed to be in the mid-40's all this week. Better enjoy it while we can.

I have to go to Physical Therapy at 11am, probably won't be any therapy today, just an evaluation. Therapy should start on Wednesday. 3x/week for 4 weeks. I'll have to remind the therapist not to stretch my R arm too much, I don't want to start walking on my knuckles. :tongue3:

After I get home, and get my chores done. I've got to increase my Cincinnati-Style Chili Recipe by 7 x to feed 40-50 people at the Wednesday Night Fellowship Meal at church.

The church is right across the road from the School Complex [middle school & high school.] I wonder if I should suggest having Chili Suppers at the church when the high school has home basketball & football games[ friday nights.] We could try different chili recipes until we find which is well received, then use that one the rest of the time. Have it on a donation basis for the meal, then donate the proceeds back to the school at the end of the season. Does this sound like a good idea?

No, I didn't forget breakfast Miss Sue, I brought in Mini-Pecan Rolls, Baked Apple Quiche, and Broiled Georgia Ham. Enjoy.

I've got to get ready to have my shoulder poked, prodded, and manipulated, and they say Dentists are sadists! Guess I shouldn't call my sister-in-law that though should I?

I'll try to check in later.

Not so good morning, ya'll. :(

This house is full of the throw ups. I'm keeping my distance today since I caught the nasty bug too. Kept me flat on my back yesterday and home from the Choir cantata last night. Instead of participating I got to watch the others on TV. Poor substititute. They did a great job though.

I'm half up this morning, which means I made it from the bed to the computer chair. This is a huge improvement. And yes, I'm feeling sorry for myself. It has been at least 10 years since I've had a bug like this and of all the times for it to hit! So far it's gotten four out of the five of us. Think T has any chance of not catching it?

On top of it all, T's grandfather passed yesterday. With me flat on my back. It was not unexpected and everyone seems to be dealing well with it. Papa was 93.

I sure hope I'm not passing virtual germs by stopping by. I'll probably be out more than I'm in the next few days. What strength I've got today will have to go to disinfecting this house. The rest of the time I plan on sleeping.

A quick "Hi" to you all. Quite busy today trying to clean up the house and homeschool so that we have time to put up our tree tonight. I WANT to get ahead of the game but I feel so far behind. :(

 Ann, how'd you get away with not putting up your tree the day after Thanksgiving? And your children let you live life misery free all this time? I'm going to have to take lessons! :D

Okay, my pity party is over. I have gotten steadily better as the day has progressed. So has Jenna, who is currently whining because I won't let her run off outside and play with her friends. Chris, is not doing well. I called the doc to get him in tomorrow and they told me the schedule was full! They said I could call in the morning and they would try to work him in. I've been hearing today that half the town has this stinking virus. Yuck!

It has turned off beautifully warm here today! It's about 60 degrees and the sun is shining. I hope this holds through the funeral on Thursday. It seems like it is always rainy and cold when a member of T's family is buried. It snowed (in Alabama) the day one of his grandmother's was buried. Not sure how they manage that.....

Ya'll enjoy your afternoon, I'm off to change bedclothes if I can manage it.

It's called "being involved in a huge Christmas musical at church and it takes up every spare minute of your day". LOL! It looks like it's a 'go' for decorating tonight!!

    Booya! :D

How have my friends been? I sure have missed seeing a lot of your names on my 'puter screen; but hey, who can I blame, eh? lol.

Just so you all don't get confused ... I'm not a "pappy" and I'm not old. I am a 15 year old God fearin' Christian. I just wish that I was old. I hate the "teen age" that I am in. I wish things were like they were back in the old days - or at least the way that my great-grandparents explained it. I love older people.

My great-grandmother and great-grandfather have known each other for all their lives. They have been married 62 years. They grew up right down the red dirt road from one another. Arm in arm, they would walk the Louisiana bayous to school each morning ... and make a detour to the local store to by one soda pop to share. For their families, money was limited back then. For fun, they would lay on his (my great-grandfather) floor and watch the chickens under the house ... through the cracks.

I thank the LORD each day for those wonderful people ... and that they are still living. Praise God! He is 81 and she is 82. She always asked the LORD when she was younger that she wished to live to see her children grown ... guess she got a little bit more. :tongue3:

    Good Evening Everybody,

Miss Ann: I wasn't being a smart south end of a northbound horse when I said you're always right. Seems like the last 5-6 things you predicted for me have come true.

Miss Sue: You ready to go outside and work on your tan tomorrow?, it got up to 51 here today. Pretty bad when 51 feels like summer isn't it?

Miss Cindi: Sounds like a computer virus has hit your family. You aren't implying that one of us is responsible are you? I asked a Rabbi one time "if chicken soup was all it was cracked up to be for a cold?" He replied "it can be, but I always recommend hot lemon juice with a shot of schnapps." To each his own.

I brought in Hot Biscuits and Black Honey [it comes from Syria-a little stronger than the domestic honey we have here in the US], and hot water is ready for tea, and the hot chocolate is ready too, just in case Jim pops in tonight. There's plenty so others can pop in too. LOL. :saint:

As I thought, physical therapy today was just an evaluation. My sister-in-law said they'd start to work on my shoulder Wednesday[ she had an evil smile on her face when she said that too.]

Time to think about what to make for the G-kids bedtime snack. Think I'll make Double-Chocolate Fudge Cups, and Smoothies.

After the G-kids conk out I'm going to be right behind them.

LOL - I keep telling my kids that mamas know everything!! I haven't been proven wrong (with them) yet. ;)

Hey Pappy!! I don't think we've met yet - I'm new here. I'm Ann and I've got KIDS you're age (although I don't feel THAT old at 41). My DH is a pastor and my kids are: 3 girls ages 16, 14 and almost 4 (she's a New Year's Eve baby) and a son who's 6. We live in NY and I try to get to the coffee house every day and taste all of the goodies. :) It's nice to meet you!!

Well, I just got a dirty look by DH who's setting up the tree while I'm on the computer. I'll see ya'll later!!

OK Guys, I did something last year after great frustration and it is the BEST thing I ever did!!

I was so fed up with spending literally hours getting the Christmas lights all to work and last year, at the end of Christmas, I tossed them all. I bought 4 new sets on super clearance ($0.50 each) and put them away. It was WONDERFUL to open up NEW boxes of lights and have them NOT tangled and ALL of them work right away!! I honestly saved about 2 hours of my time this year. I'm not happy about adding all those other lights to the landfill but I AM happy with how fast putting up the tree was this year! I'll not toss these this year but I WILL buy more boxes for next year and if these don't work within 10 minutes, out they go. Period!!

So, just a PSA for ya'll for after Christmas. :D

    Hiya Ann!

It's nice to meet you, too! It's funny that you live in New York. I plan on attending New York University and majoring in Journalism/Mass Communications. I am going to follow my dreams that one day ... I will be a famous journalist. Again ... it's my pleasure to meet you!! :wavey:

Today is Monday, December 12th, 2006

    Gooooooooooooood Morning~

And it's a great day to be alive! I rolled out of bed around 3:15 this morning and I am ready to go. Okay ... maybe not ready to go to school, but I am ready to go surfing - the 'Net. :tongue3:

I have a pot of SoonerBlend (my blend of Oklahoma Coffee and such) made in my kitchen and a tidbit poured in my big blue cup. The tea is in the window ... ready to be brewed by the sun. As soon as I come in from school everyday, that mason jar filled of pure sweetness it looking me right in the face. It has a little green tea in it, too ... so I'm sure I'm getting some nutrients with it.

I have a big agenda for school today ... and like a straight-A student always is ... he/she is prepared. Well, notta. Sorry ... I think I can wait until 5 to look over that study guide, don't you think? I deserve it? I go to the public-fool (source: GrannyGumbo) system.

You have a great morning, friends. I will check in earlier when everyone is awake.

    ~ da Shane
