Well Happy Birthday to you then Jim!

    I won't ask how old. :D

Chris will think it's cool that someone shares the date with him! He's getting dinner at Red Lobster to celebrate with, what about you?

I just came from the very best meeting I've had with the Middle School! (Chris' school, but the one I had so much trouble with last year when Cass was there.) They continued his 504 for another year, till next October, with no complaining whatsoever! I am very happy with them and also hopeful that by next year we will have the right meds so that he no longer needs a 504. I did make sure to tell them how pleased I am.

I counted, it has been 22 DAYS since Chris' last serious migraine and even then the migraine was secondary to the stomach virus! That's cause for a celebration in this house!

I gotta get off here, finish lunch and try to get a bit done here before I have to pick up kids. Ya'll enjoy your afternoons!

I thought it was common kowledge, but I am 80 to-day! Yes, January 5th...I've had it all my life so Chris has some distance to go yet...lol.

Actually, I have two older sisters the first week of January; one on the 2nd and one on the 7th...they are 7 and 10 years older than me.

It is just another day for me. Never did pay much mind to it. I will prolly have preacher's round steaks for dinner.....lol.

Cheers, and again, Happy Birthday to Chris.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

    Congratulations Jim and Chris!!

Has anybody heard anything from Sue?

I brought in 15-minute taco in a pan for lunch, with chicken enchaladas. Enjoy.

Time to get back to work.

    Happy Birthday Jim.
Their are no rules that say you can't use a leaf blower to help you blow out the candles.

    Thanks everyone!

Can you even imagine how much wax would cover a cake with 80 candles? Wife solved the wax problem and used a battery powered candle...I was over an hour trying to blow it out!

    Cheers,

    Jim

Happy Birthday, Jim! You share your birthday with my dad. He would have been 109 today!

Haven't been on too much today. Brent was in school all day, then home for an hour, then off to Belleville for a basketball game. He won't be home until after midnight.

I've taken the day off to just lay around and nap on and off. Now it's bedtime...

    Pleasant dreams all,

    Good morning all,

I forgot to check in yesterday morning, so thought I'd do that now, before I forget again.

Age doesn't make you forgetful. Having way too many stupid things to remember makes you forgetful...

I am feeling much better this morning. I hope it lasts through the day. It will be wonderful when I can go outside again - no matter what the weather is like! I have cabin fever!

I would also like to feel well enough to take the Christmas decorations down. They're getting in my way. :BangHead:

    Time for hot chocolate!

    Good Afternoon Everyone,

It is so good to hear that Sue is feeling better. You could just leave the Christmas Lights up outside, and if anybody asks just say that you're ready for next Christmas even if others aren't.

It is rainy, and almost 50 degrees here in Michigan. Not bad for January.

I brought in Parmesan Meatloaf, Smashed Redskin Potatoes, and Black Forest Mousse Dessert for a late lunch if anybody is interested. Enjoy.

Finally, all the chores are done. Time to relax a little and watch either NCAA Basketball, or NFL Wildcard Games. Decisions. Decisions.

We are visiting a Baptist church about 20 miles NW of us tomorrow. Their doctrine is said to be Biblically-sound, and they are really family-oriented.

Hey all! It's now 72.5 outside my house and it's WARM!!! I can't even begin to imagine that it's January 6th and we're doing spring cleaning today! LOL! How weird!!

So, we got some cleaning done, dealt with an issue with my 14 year old drama queen  and we'll be going off to our worship team post-Christmas party at 4. I'm bringing a salad (Costco's Parisienne salad which is REALLY good) and a Cheesecake Factory cheesecake selection _3 slices each of 4 different ones). It should be fun.

Jeesh - I can't believe it's just so warm out there right now!! This is like April!!

    Have a wonderful day and Happy belated Birthday, Jim!! I can't believe you're 80 - you don't post a day over 40!!

I read here but don't post here often, but Jim, that was classic! I'll have to remember that one....Barry will be 65 this year hee hee hee....

Sue, I KNEW you would feel better. I TOLD you so...
By the way, you know how we used to keep our lemon tree alive in the foothills of California where it normally got too cold? We put Christmas lights on it and that kept it cozy all winter. We found out it worked for an orange tree, too! And it looked pretty neat.

FoG -- it's really good to see you upbeat again and looking for a good church. God bless you!

Annsi -- a fourteen year old drama queen? Oh yeah.... My youngest daughter, at age twelve or thereabouts managed to get a redwood splinter under her fingernail. Now granted that is quite painful, but when her brother took her to emergency (I was with her older sister seeing a specialist in Florida at the time for older sister's medical problem), from what I hear, this young lady was screaming and carrying on so much that the doctor finally told her that if she did not settle down he was not going to even try to help her.

What is interesting is that she rarely complained of anything physical that was minor after that....grin.

Weather here today was rainy this morning but it has stopped now. We had a large generator installed here this week as we are on well water so even our water depends on our electricity. With two families on our property as well as the animals, water is not an option! We had the generator in the garage waiting to be installed (this is not a little thing on wheels but a great big hunkin' thing that goes on a cement pad!) so now today we are going to be cleaning out the garage so Gina can get her car in again, getting the extra stuff and Christmas stuff into the big storage barn (we have two barns here), and cleaning up the downstairs of the big barn to make sure the girls and us have plenty of room for that ping pong table we bought everyone for Christmas!

And....since it has stopped raining now and the housework is done and Chris is dry and happy and the animals fed....off we go for a little real work!

God bless you all and see you later.

    Hello Everybody!:wavey:

Happy Birthday, a couple days late, to
Jim and Chris of the Menagerie.

We are doing pretty well here in GA. Except hubby may have to work tomorrow. They were off for eight weekdays around Christmas, New Year, now they're scheduled to work every Saturday in Jan., the first week of Feb., and maybe tomorrow.
He does earn paid vacation days at this job, but they tell ya when you're takin' 'em! :BangHead:

    Sue, hope the improvement continues!

Helen, good to 'see' yu in the Co0ffee House!

    Good to be here.

OK, I have a new announcement to make about ping pong. New rules, courtesy of us --

The table is only where you START the game. Hitting the ball in any way whatsoever in any direction related to where your opponent is, counts.

    Note: wet balls bounce worse.

Wet balls, however, DO bounce...therefore the game is still on.

    Barn, wet balls....Eeewww!

However, bouncing the ball off the barn walls in such a manner that it smacks your opponent in the back of the head, is perfectly acceptable! Let us know who wins.

    Good Afternoon Everyone!

FoG, instead of choosing between pro foot ball and whatever basketball thing you were considering, you should be down playing upward basketball with the G-kids! That is what we've been up to all day (well and the weekly Walmart run). Jenna is the only I have playing this year, but we still have a lot of fun. Just I don't get to socialize with as many people as I did when all three were playing.

Fourteen year old drama queen? Got one. What did YOU lose, throw away, forbid or say was unbecoming of a girl her age.

Sue, glad you got some rest yesterday. Don't you go doing too much now that you have started feeling better. We don't want a relapse!

    Battery powered candle. Priceless!

Jim: I had an 'open house' for my mother's 90th birthday, complete with a very large cake with 90 candles on it! We really DID have to turn off the smoke alarms before we lit the candles. Everyone helped blow them out though.

    Good morning all,

I was going to try and get to church this morning, but it's 34º and raining so I dare not go out in this kind of weather - especially since I'm still not completely over Bronchitis...

Brent will be 13 Thursday and I have already told the school that I will furnish lunch (sloppy joes, chips, soda pop and cake) for all the students and teachers on that day. I thought I would be "all better" by then, but now I'm not so sure.

Regardless, I will have to figure out someway to get the food out there PLUS a LARGE sheetcake decorated all in black (mourning because he's a teenager). :tear:

They will serve it if I can get it out there. The hard part will be putting a cooler full of soda pop and ice in the car at home to get it out to the church. Oh well, I'll figure out something. I guess I could put the cooler in the trunk the night before and add the pop and ice, then let the principle carry it from the car to the lunchroom. Hah! Problem solved (if it doesn't freeze Wednesday night)!

    Hot chocolate time...

    G'Day, mates!

Having a cuppa before I brave the cold and mist to feed the horses, goats, and chickens out there. Everyone is still asleep. It's my turn to stay home from church and watch Chris (he is getting violent in church and hitting us when we require him to sit and be still), so Gina can go. So I have a lazy morning after I get back in. Awwwww, shucks.....LOL

As cold and January-ish as it is, the Erica heather is starting to bloom and it's lovely.

And there is lots to be grateful for. Talking to friends in Australia and they are having the worst drought they have ever had. Temperatures in Adelaide, where Barry is from, are hovering around 40C +, which is horrid (double the number and add 30 and you get the approximate temperature F). I remember from being there one February that the nights do not cool off appreciably, even though you can see the ocean. It's like the top of a pressure cooker is sitting over the area. Pray for rain for them (although their summer is just beginning, miracles can happen...)

We got an absolutely incredible amount of work done yesterday (punctuated by two ping pong 'games'). When we bought this place there was a big storage barn at the end of one driveway. We had an animal barn built (3 1/2 stalls, a medication area, hay storage area, and half-bath -- the 1/2 stall is a chicken area with its own very small 'chicken door' to an outside area dedicated to the chickens only. In California we had chickens and horses all in one area and the horses would step on the chicken's feet while they were all munching stuff from the ground and I got tired of setting chicken legs with popsicle sticks....:tongue3: ). The previous owners had left so much junk in and around this large storage barn (two stories) that last summer we had the largest dumpster available brought out and filled the thing. We also hired a man to haul away some extra at the end of the summer.

Then, because we needed a generator for times when power is cut, Barry bought a rather large model to support both houses and the animal barn and it was sitting in our regular garage until it was installed this past week. Finally that half of the garage was available to us again, and we also had packed up Christmas, and we also had the ping pong table in the storage barn. Our kids had also helped us buy some leather furniture for the living room so we didn't have to keep telling Chris not to sit on the furniture (never know when his diapers are going to overflow). Leather cleans up easily. So the old sofa and love seat were ALSO out in the storage barn.

Yesterday it ALL got cleaned up. A lot of stuff went upstairs on the shelves in the large barn, and we swept and even vacuumed the lower area and then sprayed it for spiders and such (lots of black widows around here). Then the Christmas stuff got stored under the stairs and under one of the workbenches; the other one got cleaned up completely; the sofa and love seat moved back against walls for the kids to sit on, and the ping pong table now has plenty of room. Our garage also got cleaned out, with lots of stuff going either into the animal barn (all the garden stuff) or upstairs in the storage barn, except for the wheelchair we were given for when necessity hits, which is folded downstairs in the barn. Then we swept out our garage and put a few things like the house paints and tool chest along the walls and now two cars can get in there. It's lovely!

That was the last big project from moving in eighteen months ago. And it feels so good! We know where everything is, and there's space for the cars and no extra junk lying about anymore.

That's a long note, and no one may read it, but it feels so good to say that all that is finished. Finally.

Now it's upkeep and keep up, and that we can do without cringing at the thought!

OK, I've put off going outside long enough...LOL...time to feed the beasties.

    Love to you all.
    Helen
