    What's for breakfast?

I read in here from time to time and see different meals. I have one question? What has happened to the old style breakfasts?? I mean fried eggs(well done), BROWN gravy, fried taters, biscuits, fried apples, sausage and/or bacon, coffee, etc. I guess this is why I am 6'2" or so, and weigh 290, huh? LOL May God Bless!! Why, thank you, Shane! :love2:

Good morning and Happy Valentine's Day to you, and all who will be stopping by later!

(Lest anyone get the wrong idea, Shane is an 'adopted cyberspace grandson'.)

Welcome to the CH, convicted1! Just yesterday morning, we had bacon, fried potatoes with onions, fried eggs, biscuits and jelly, orange juice, and milk for breakfast. You should have been here then!

It is 5º and snow is all I can see everywhere I look! Some of the drifts are 10 feet high! The snow plow has done it's job, depositing all of the blown snow right in front of the house.

I parked my car in the back so the snowplow wouldn't block me in and he went down the alley - blocked in for sure now! :BangHead:

Brent's glasses broke last night. I have to get the car out somehow so we can get his glasses fixed. He can't see without them. Thank the Lord that school was canceled again today!

The insurance company allows him a new pair of glasses once a year and I'm praying that year is up. We will still have to get up to the office, get his eyes checked, and wait for the new glasses to be made and arrive back here in Lincoln.

He has his old glasses, but they give him a headache if he wears them very long as they are much weaker than the ones he wears now, plus they are too small for his head after his growth spurt last fall!

    Time for hot chocolate! :wavey:

convicted, If you are still hungry, I will put on an old-fashioned breakfast! There ain't nothing better than a country breakfast with fresh squeezed OJ and a fresh brew. Bonnie shall be out shortly.

Sue, it is 16º here ... and light snow is falling. We are supposed to get heavy snow later on, but it doesn't take a lot of snow to coat the ground. There is nothing prettier than a redbird playing in the snow! Speaking of which, I have a bird blog, with daily updated pictures of birds straight from my yard, let me know if you are interested!

It's a balmy 25 here with a windchill of 15. Snow is forecast but that only means that if you look out at the right time you might see a few little flakes! I'm about to go eat some biscuits and jelly myself.

    Good morning, all!

A blessed Valentine's Day to all. Go hug someone and tell them you love them!

Cool out, but lovely. I do love living in Oregon. May have some rain today, but there is a saying in this town, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute" -- and in spring and fall especially, you can count on changes that fast. It's fun. Overcast with enough breaks in it for a gorgeous sunrise right now.

Barry left two packages of figs (which I ADORE) and a poem for me on the computer chair here. That was so fun! We don't do a lot of supporting Hallmark around here, by mutual agreement, so it is always fun to find something original to do, and he always does! He's a fun person to be married to.

Shopping today. Anna's birthday overnight is Friday. She will be ten (she is the youngest of Gina's three daughters and they live here on our property in the guest house and help us take care of our adult retarded son). Her orders for the overnight dinner were macaroni and cheese, strawberries, and popcorn, with Snickers bars for dessert. I think I'll go crunch some celery in rebellion! But that's what it will be, and, like her sister, I imagine they will be up and talking most of the night. With Anna's heart defect, however, I am quite sure that Gina and Barry and I will be checking much more closely on this bunch that when Mandy had her birthday overnight a few weeks ago.

So that's us today. I'll clean up for Bible study tonight and work with Barry on some of his stuff and that's it. Nothing dramatic.

Sue, I hope you can get your car out OK. If you were here in Oregon we could be of more help I think, with a shovel, but I don't have one with a handle long enough! God bless you and please be careful!

Morning all! Well, we already lost our power for a little bit today and I will be surprised if we don't lose it again. We're getting sleet and freezing rain right now - with snow forcasted for later. Bob couldn't get out of our neighborhood which is an old sand mine. We have a huge hill to have to get up and it was a sheet of ice - NOT good when you need new tires. The school bus was able to make it out, though, so the girls went in with a 2 hour delay. I'm home - going no where and happy about that. :D I've got firewood in - enough to get us through 24 hours with no heat, an I'm going to put some groceries in the car so that we won't have to open the fridge. If we still have power, I'm making roast beef for dinner but if we lose the power, I'll change that to my wine braised Italian sausages, which are a stove top meal. We have a gas range and the oven won't work with no power but the stove top works just fine.

I hope everyone stays safe and warm today! Have a great day all!

    Hey Everyone!

Guess what we saw this morning? Yep, actual snowflakes! I hadn't seen any in so long I almost didn't recognize what they were. :D

It is COLD here though and supposed to get colder. Foo Foo the stray still doens't have a permanent home, but she is staying with me during the day and with the neighbor at night until we can all come to some agreement on what to do with her. They'd like her but she keeps escaping from their yard and she barks a lot up there. Funniest thing I've ever seen, as I have a huge hole in my fence that she hasn't found and she only barks at the three mutts when they bark at her! I have to introduce her to the huskies and see how they react to her before I keep her permanently. We tried three female dogs (all huskies) and had to give the third to a friend because Ava and Mishka were constantly picking at her and not letting her eat. It's a pack thing and they didn't want her. We'll figure something out, but right now it is too cold!

    Happy Valentine's Day!

OK - Now it's getting icy and I'm sure we'll lose our power again at some point. DH couldn't get to work this morning and just a bit ago, he almost couldn't make it into our driveway!! I wouldn't be surprised if the kids get a snow day tomorrow because it's just downright dangerous out there now and it should get colder tonight - and keep things a sheet of ice.

So, if I don't check on for a bit, know that I'm OK - just have no power. We do have city water (some people around here are on wells so no power, no water), gas hot water, gas stove and a nice huge fireplace in our den. We'd do fine with no power for a while. So, see you guys soon!! ;)
