It's wonderful. It was great falling asleep last night to the blizzard and waking up to a winter wonderland! We knew church was postponed today til 4PM so we all slept in, had a great breakfast and relaxed before we tackled the snow. It would have been a bear if we had to shovel but since my ILs gave us a huge snow blower, it wasn't bad at all to take care of it all. DH is out delivering the girls to work now because we don't want our 19 year old driving in this just yet without us knowing the conditions of the road. So we'll head off to church (it's the children's Christmas pageant otherwise we would have just cancelled) then home to relax.

Our weather is icy and snowy. I like the look of it, but I am happy to stay indoors indefinitely. LOL!

Made Christmas cookies yesterday and had so much fun!!!

Hope you all are having a good Christmas week!

Today is sunny and bright and the vast majority of school districts around us are closed! We only have a 2 hour delayed opening because everything is so icy. We got 26" of snow and it warmed just above freezing yesterday only to go down to 20 overnight so it's quite crispy and slippery on the roads.

I think today I will make my jam for Christmas gifts. It's cranberry and strawberry and SOOOO yummy.

    Murrey Kwizmiz Ebe ebrey buddy!

    I LOVE CHRISTMAS!

We were very much hoping for a white one, and today we got it! OH YAH! Uh huh, oh yah...

Made a cheesecake earlier, got an apple pie in the oven, and am about to go start on the scalloped taters. Preparing for tomorrow...not sure what we're doing for dinner tonight...OH YEAH! I forgot to put it in the crock-pot. That was supposed to happen this morning. OOPS! Wonder what to make for tonight. hehehehehe

So, everyone having fun? Probably too much fun to be on here, right? Hmph! Well, if you're here, HI! I'm so excited...this is our first Christmas together as a family. Yippee! (I love Christmas, as long as we can maintain distance from non-family ijits and alcoholics, and now we CAN! YAHOO!)

Life is good. God is best. Thank you Lord, for such a wonderful blessing as Christmas, and the family that goes with it!

Christmas was beautiful! We had a nice day with our family and then called the in-laws in the evening. So relaxing.

Today, back to the regular routine. So far this morning I have washed laundry, cut wood, cooked beans, and looked online for a comforter for my bed. Busy, busy, busy.

Right now my head is wishing that our friends hadn't sent perfume to the girls for Christmas!!!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!!!

Christmas was nice and quiet here and now today we're heading out to my ILs since it's kind of far to ask them to come here for a day. I had my dad over but the ILs live an hour and a half away and it's kind of a tiring ride when done in one day, especially when you're in your mid-80s.

Then tomorrow we'll drop our 17 year old off at church at 7am for the youth group winter retreat. After that will be church and then rest. I came down with a cold last night and I'm shot.

Ending the year with a blow-out, huh Annsni? At least it's a good weather to snuggle down with a cup of tea!

Today the post-Christmas urge to clean struck. Thankfully I managed to smother it with some left-over ham and scalloped potatoes. (but not before it managed to get a good vacuum and load of laundry out of me first)

Still white and icy outside, which is just perfect imo! Went and played it in the first day, stayed in yesterday, but went out in it for a little bit today. It's almost cold enough to need a real coat, but not quite. Perfect for hot chocolate or tea to stay cozy with.

    Merry Christmas everybody...a day late.

We were forecast a Winter Storm Warning with a possible 1" of ice on top of it for Christmas Day. Turns out we got about 1" of snow and no ice. Everything went around us.

Right now we've got about an inch of snow on the ground with flurries forecast for the next few days.

We made dinner for all the family and now we have a ton of leftovers, so coming up with menus for the next week shouldn't be a problem. Leftovers tonight...and tomorrow night...and the night after that...

When I was a kid I used to love picking the turkey when all was said and done. :)

When I was a kid, the turkey would pick me if I messed with it.

    Cheers,

What absolutely amazes me is that one week ago we had 26" of snow and today there's not even a drift left. We had rain for the last two days and it washed it all away.

Well, my cold got the best of me. I stayed home from church today because I'm feeling like I'm in between the flu and a cold. I've got a headache, feel hot and cold but don't have a fever and feel as weak as a newborn. I got up to make a cup of tea and collapsed in bed only to fall asleep before I could drink it! So now I'm in bed on the laptop looking up up some recipes that I'm watching on the Food Network. :)

    Have a blessed day all!

Hope you feel better soon, Ann. I've been fighting those same symptoms for the last two weeks.

A blessed and Happy New Year to one and all. May we ever lift our Saviour high in all we do or say, and remember the marvellous grace that has made us whole in Him.

    Cheers, and bless,

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

It is 18 degrees and we are under a Winter Storm Advisory until 4am tomorrow. We are forecasted 4"-7" of snow with larger amounts possible. The only thing that has saved us today is that we haven't had much wind with our snow, so far.

Needless to say, driving is an adventure. Fortunately after living in Michigan all my life you eventually get smart enough to believe the weather warnings when they're posted and make sure you're stocked up with needed supplies so travel is un-necessary.

Hopefully either the roads are plowed and salted better tonight and early tomorrow, or school is cancelled. If the roads are like they are tomorow morning I don't think I'm going to risk the Gkid's safety [as well as mine] by being heroic enough to drive them to school. A snow day is better than an accident anytime!

Talked to Brenda's Uncle who lives north of Houston, TX and their temperture is supposed to bottom out around 20 degrees tonight. That is positively arctic for them.

Anybody else having fun dealing with the first major storm of 2010?

Last night we had windchill advisories of minus 40 in the outlying areas of the city. But now they are forecasting +5 C. or +41 F. in just a couple of days. That's a difference of over 80 degrees Fahrenheit in just a matter of a couple of days or so. At least then it will be warm enough to get out and shovel the snow off the driveway :)
