I am back from 'the corner' with no injuries. :D

Today is laundry and hanging clothes outside day.

I also had some apples given to me so I am baking an apple pie today.

Round steak on sale last week, gonna surf for a low-carb recipe I can use for it tonight.

Grill it - bout as low-cal as you can get.

Then fry some of low-onions and peppers in a low-cal oil - or do them over the grill - and you'll be eatin' real good!!

    Dan

PS - it would also be low-carb too!!

That sounds good Dan and I have been using Olive Oil to cook in lately; but I saw a recipe where you beat the round steak real thin and wrap it around brocolli and cheese or 'something'. Anyway, it sounded good and now I can't remember where I saw it!

I have my low-carb recipe sites bookmarked though, so it shouldn't take too long to find it.

Mentioned that I preached with great freedom at the Free church yesterday. Nearly 200 folk and responsive to the Word. One of my kids emailed and asked what I got for being pulpit supply.

Got a bushel of new potatoes! One of the families brought 600 pounds (thats 1100 Canadian) of new potatoes - some purple, some red, some white.

What a treat! Reminds me of the stories of the Iowa frontier where my great grandfather William Rogers (NOT Roger Willians) was a circuit-riding Methodist missionary. In the fall, he'd get "paid" in various foodstuffs, slaughtered animals, tallow, salt, etc.

BTW, another lovely day in Wyoming! Already in the 60's and will hit 78F by 3, then down below freezing overnight. 0% moisture, clear sunny and the bluest sky you've ever seen!

Leaves are a RIOT of colors. This year we've had little precipitation and no wind - both of which cause our fall here to be pathetic compared to the Midwest. So we are luxuriating in the beauty!

Spring, Summer and Fall are God's gifts for enduring the dark, short, cold and snowy days of Winter!

I guess we'll never have to worry about warning Dr. Bob not to take any wooden nickels - but potato nickels are a different story.

Doing any teaching this year Dr. Bob?

Sue - you should serve that steak at the Commong Ground Coffee House - just leave out the grounds!!! [IMG]

Diane - sounds like you slept the better part of the day away!!

I was awake this morning before 5 AM (a few minutes) and heard the alarm on my watch go off (as usual) - Jan even said, "I heard that!" She thinks that she is a light sleeper - but most of the time she doesn't even know when I get up and/or leave the house to go to work.

Dr. Bob has to go back to the circuit riders..I remember those days when the deacons prayed,,Lord, you keep him humble and we'll keep him poor.

In one Alberta church, had a woman bring me a dozen eggs each week, in a jar. They were already broken and we had to spoon them out.....will you have one spoon or two this morning for breakfast?

The members took turns having us out to dinner, fetching meat and other foods, especially preserves. And we got $40.00 ($15.00 American) each week in case of emergency. Even had one old gal who collected the cardboard that came with new shirts and she made me clergy collars with white material and the cardboard to stiffen them.

The good old days. Now, that is "supply" preaching; we preach for our supplies.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Isn't that the Day of Atonement, Jim? I seem to remember that from 'The Jazz Singer' movie with Neal Diamond.

It's raining here tonight. I love the rain. It's going to 'Wash that Ragweed right outta my hair'... Nick played outside today. I was telling Sue that he was playing with the chipmunks. They'd stick their head out of their holes and he was trying to feed them croutons! Seasoned croutons! We have 9 squirrels and 3 chipmunks in the back yard and some more chipmunks out front. Nick got 3 mosquito bites. So far no swelling but I gave him some Benadryl right away. I hate mosquitos! [IMG]

Good evening folks! Just came back from Hackettstown where my wife and I visited the kids and grandkids. We had a sumptuous dinner and said farewell to our loved ones, as we will be leaving to Budapest, Hungary this coming Thursday. We shall be there for a week, and return on the 16th. Hope you'll behave yourselves until our return... ;) [IMG]
