The sheriff's here hate having to take these kinds of reports also. They are so busy already and there is some question of just who has jurisdiction over these kinds of cases.

My sis had her bank account information stolen and the theif also went out of state to spend it. Your theif was probably just checking the account out to see if the charge could get under the radar. You credit card company is to be commended for catching it(if they were the ones who did).

My back seems to be a little better this evening, but I'm still not sure I'm going to try to do anything physical the rest of the evening. Might just sit here and enjoy the rest, then go to bed early.

    AVL,
It's sad, but I have had a post office box and have had PLENTY of misdirected mail.
At my home address recently, I received a letter from someone in my town addressed to Discover Card in Utah. I did not open it, and took it back to the post office.
There was NO point of reference between my address and Discover's.

Menagerie, I'm confused about your termites. You have traps that you check? We had termites 19 years ago, they promised the treatment would take care of it. It has. We have had warranty inspections since then.

    I forgot to add:
There are plenty of ways for card theft without you even knowing it till the charge goes through.
For example, I dislike the modern practice of the "server" saying "I'll be your cashier when you're ready." They just have to record data in the back and return the card right to you.

Also, watch who is behind you when you actually are at a cash register. Some cell phones with cameras can take pictures of your card in your hand.

I have the firewall from Zone Alarm and from Microsoft....but the one I trust the most, the one who caught someone trying to steal my info 18 mo's back is not able to be used because of Microsofts blocking it with their own firewall, which I've tried several times to disable so I can use the Zone Alarm. Zone Alarm is the best as far as I'm concerned. If I can ever find a way to fully disable Microsofts firewall and get the Zone Alarm to where it can be used again...it will be back on my computer, running day and night. No "firewall" as far as a permanent card, though.

MK...I'm the one who caught it....We didn't get a bill this past month for this account, and I was going to call to get a new one issued, but, it was so close to the due date on the bill that I went online to check it. Not having received it, after looking at my bill online, I knew that it had either been stolen from the box, or delivered to the other "129" on the other road by mistake and the person had used my personal info and account #. I called both the company that accepted the charges and they confirmed that the # that the charge was called in from was the number listed on the billing, and the credit card company, which did the same, and let them know of the theft. The card is now on "suspended" status, pending further investigation. I will also be contacting my attorneys in Nashville tomorrow. I'm very upset with my card company, because they are supposed to have these safeguards, but they don't use them. Please, if you have a "Capital One" credit card....find another to use... a LOCAL banks credit card if possible. Capital One is just not reliable company. This is the second thing like this they've let slip through in less than a year, and they are now trying to charge me late charges, though I paid the bill several weeks before the due date. That's part of where my attorney will be coming in, as well as the states atty gen'l here and in the state for the HQ of Capital One.

Thanks, Karen for that advice...My wife sells Pre-Paid Legal Services, and we carry a I D Theft and Restoration service, which for some reason on our account was cancelled (oh, that's right, I was in the hospital and it lapsed...sorry). But, as soon as the waiting period for renewal is up, which should be in the next few months, we're going to have it re-instated. This is one of the reasons we got into PPL is because of things like this, will preparation (you wouldn't believe how many Christians and people in general don't have a comprehensive, VALID, will and living will) and protection from predatory lenders, unfair billing etc. We believe the Bible tells us to be "wise as the serpent, but harmless as doves", and we promote this service because it is more of a defense than an offensive business. Though I don't like to advertise through the boards (though we are considering taking out a banner ad on the BB and the FFF) the link is http://www.prepaidlegal.com/hub/vlanius for anyone interested. It's been a lifesafer for us several times over the past few years.

Well, ya'll have a great day. I'm going to be dealing a little more with the police and the attorneys.

"attorneys"---as in plural??? Wow, T!!! Sounds like a Job for Superman!!!!!!!!

Quickly---at Gestapo High Command---Agents pour over information that the public is not even aware of---where they get this information -- noone knows but themselves (and of course, those on the receivin' end of a pistol grip!!) Agent Blackbird is combin' over the information gathered by stealth--by day he is a common laborer---but by night--when he "dons" on his trench coat where his "Uzi" machine gun is well hidden---he can crack any code the Allies throw at the Gestapo!!!

In a twist of play---much to their amazement---the Gestapo agents are surprised that a certain person with the pen name of "T" would come to them with vital information----in the which--Agent Blackbird is upset because---well, he's upset because it should have been the other way around---Gestapo agents are supposed to "hunt" the wanted---not the other way around!!! (The fun part of signing on with this marvelous detective agency is in the hunt!! Now "T" has done gone and taken the wind out of Agent Blackbird's sails!!)No doubt this will cost "T"-----Agent Blackbird throws the lamp in "T's" face and begins the questioning---a loose glove is held in his powerful right hand ready to "pursuade" the correct answers from him!!

"Less's start from zee beginning, Comrade! What is your full name??"

    "T"

"Zat is not vut I asked you!! Listen carefully to ze question again and get it right dis time!!"

"T" begins to sweat under the upsettingly difficult question!!! All he came in the agent's office for was to report a lost credit card---that's all!!! He is reasoning within his "jarred" mind----"Must the agent slap me so hard with that loose glove----just because "T" is my full name????"

    Good morning all!

Tony, good for you for being on the ball then! We paid off all our credit cards when the tax refund came in. We had not one but two Cap 1 cards. (one was for T's business) They weren't the best to deal with but not the worst either. I haven't had a card yet that didn't charge me fees that I thought weren't justified.

Karen, the termite program you bought into was probably a spray based system where they sprayed gallons of insecticide in and around your house and then they check every year for evidence of termite activity.

I have the Sentricon system which is a bait system. There are stations about every three feet all the way around the house(in the ground). The traps are baited with what termites like best--wood. When they find termites in the station, the wood comes out and the bait goes in. The bait is designed to be carried back to the mound so as to kill the entire thing(including the queen).

Today is award day for my younguns. Even though it hasn't been a spectacular year grade wise, Son and Precious are both recieving awards. Son is recieving a reading award!(Cindi faints and falls backward because if there is one thing Son hates, it's reading) Precious has no clue what she is getting an award for as they only tell the kids they are getting one. It is probably for participating in cross country last fall.

    Have a good day!

    Good morning all:

It is a cool 45º this morning, but the sun is shining and it will get up to 75º by this afternoon.

I need to hoe the garden and do some thinning, go through our clothes to give to 7 families who lost everything in an apartment fire, deliver them, go to the grocery store, the library, home school, do papers, fix supper, and do the crossing 2x.

In my spare time, I'm going to wash the car.

    HAGD!

Unfortunately, the local mortgage company (our local bank)
    sold our mortgage
to a national company out of state.

BTW, the first time i got a credit card in about 1973, the
local bank sold it to Penn Square Bank in Oklahoma City,
Penn Square sold it to a bank in Chicago (just before Penn
Square went belly up starting the 70s banking panic).
We have no control over who has these accounts.

My credit card company called me one day because my Dear Lovely
Sweet Wife, Thankful, made three large (over $100) purchases
    in the same day.

My front yard first brood of Purple Finches
had two of them last night sitting on the
ledge of the window over the door. They had to
fly up there above the nest. They are not
    there this morning.

The back yard second brood of Purple Finches
    now has three eggs!!!

blackbird....Thanks for the humor! I needed it! [IMG] [IMG] (Actually, blackbird, there are several attorneys in each field of law at this law firm...the biggest lawfirm in the state. Since they are provider attorneys for Pre-Paid Legal, and PPL is their highest paying client, we get A 1 treatment, just like the top millioniares....not too shabby! )

MK...we have two Cap 1's. One was for smaller purchases, and the higher limit account is for Viv's business. She's wanting to close the 2nd account and have the card re-issued in case these jokers have that one also.

Ed, you are correct. We really don't have any control over who has our accounts. That's a shame, too! :(

I haven't had any credit cards for years!

I use cash, mostly checks, and sometimes my debit card issued by my bank (the money comes out of my account immediately).

We keep most of our money in our savings account, so if someone, somehow, got the 'pin' for my debit card - they wouldn't get much. [IMG]

Sorry about all your problems people. :(

Sue, for the most part we don't use the credit cards, but had to when we moved, so they both are pretty near the limit, which could be paid off today if we wanted to. We, too, usually use our debit cards and checks to pay things off, buy groceries, gas, etc. Our "savings" account (really our Money Market acct) was wiped out by having to pay pre-paids on the house. But, it was WELL worth it! I would rather be in this house with it's minor problems than in an apt with neighbors so close they could reach through the wall and hit you! LOL

My you guys have been chatty today! My second set of kids didn't arrive until almost 10:30 so I could let Ty sleep late. That means I don't come in and turn on the computer until he's up, dressed and fed. I've already got the baby down for a morning nap and MacKenzie goes down after lunch. Ty sleeps in so he doesn't nap until about 2 or a little later.

Tomorrow is another trip to Rome so I'll be up and out (with Nick and Ty) very early. My appt. is at 10:40 so I might not even be online before picking up Max after school.

Well I'm still down with my back, though it is better today than yesterday. If I have to rest, I might as well do it at the computer. I'm sitting in a very comfortable rocking chair, that funnily enough, is just the right height for the computer. I hate what's going on with my back though, I can feel it burn all the way down my right arm into my fingers. Yuck!

Yikes, Cindi! That sounds like a pinched nerve! I bet you turned funny or lifted something for the yard sale.

I've got 2 down for naps and one is watching Uncle Jon play a video game. I sure need to cut the grass around the basketball goals tonight. Wish my guys would offer without me having to suggest it.

    Evening all:

We rented the movie "Racing Stripes" and so far, it has been a VERY good movie - full of laughs. Think "Babe".

I am turning in when the movie is over. I have to get an ingrown toenail removed at the podiatrist's office early tomorrow morning.

    Pleasant dreams all!

    Good morning:

Will be praying for all the problems listed over the last day or so.

It's a cool 48 here, and is supposed to be falling even further this morning before going back up into the 80's again.

Viv got to stay yesterday until 3:30pm (a gain of 15 min OT) because all the big whigs were there in Lebanon/Nashville plants for the Five Year celebration, though it's been here six or seven years. I guess five years since the two plants were complete in construction phase. It was a big thing I guess. Viv will celebrate her five year anniversary there on June 19. On her last day of training in 2000, my father passed away from cancer. That was June 21. That was also her fathers birthday (though he'd passed on in 1991), and the first day of summer. It was also the day that our then pastor was embattled for his job as pastor, partially over trying to bring in a HAC grad as assistant who had been voted down once already, and partially because of his rude and unethical behaviour from the pulpit and in other areas. Thank the Lord that He led us into the SBC. Recovery and healing found there. (No offense to those who are still IFB...there ARE many good IFB churches...Sue is a member of one!) Sorry for my ramble there....just a lot on my heart and mind as things are continuing here.

My mom was supposed to leave for GA yesterday for my neice's graduation on Saturday. Don't know if she made it or not. She was on standby status, which means she might not have been able to get on until early this morning. Guess we'll hear something soon. She's supposed to go down and see my sister who just divorced her former IFB pastor husband and try to talk some sense into him. He's so blinded by the "ministry" as a "job" that he can't see the forest for the trees. Though he's gone back to Lowes for the mean time to support his obligations of child support, he still blames my sister for wrecking his ministry. It's truly sad to see someone so blinded by his love for the ministry that he refuses to work and support his family until something like divorce takes place. Praying it will all work out and he'll wake up.

I've GOT to be at church tonight to get the adult Bible study started until the deacon comes in. Please pray for me...I've been having a really hard time physically over the last few weeks because of vertigo attacks, asthma and being very weak physically. Though I preached Sunday morning on an emergency basis, I wasn't able to be there Sunday evening because of being so weak. I know it looked bad to some people, but, I'm doing what I can do. Guess I'll really have to tell them what is going on physically, though the pastor said I really didn't need to offer anyone but him and God an explanation, and God already knew what was going on....LOL...well, of course! ;)

Well, ya'll take care and have a great day. Again, sorry to ramble, but my meds do that to me sometimes.

    Good morning all:

I had a restful night's sleep and woke up to 52º weather with an expected high of 80º and no rain until tomorrow.

I am not working today as I doubt I'll be able to walk fast enough to keep up with the kids at the crossing after my visit to the podiatrist.

Will check in when I get back,
