Happy belated birthday Sue. I was sure what
number to use, so I threw a whole bunch
together. That way you will have several options.

    Is she 26? 42? 39? It's 39, ain't it [IMG]

    Good morning all,

I have been up since 6:00, but have been busy. I am letting Brent sleep in this morning, I think we're both getting colds...

I am baking "Alaska Logs" today as well as rolling dates (with half a pecan in the middle) in sugar. This is a treat my mother always made for Christmas and I have carried on the tradition.

Tomorrow, I will make "Bark Candy" and possibly another couple of batches of "Peanut Brittle".

My Christmas baking is almost completed. This is a good thing because now I can concentrate on the wedding!

    HAGD!

    Good afternoon, All.

I haven't stopped in because I didn't want my concerns to spoil the Birthday party and the lovely atmosphere of the CH. But I'm better now.

My little Muffin had to have emergency surgery. He is still not out of the woods yet. He had bladder stones. I will not go into all the details, but the surgery lasted three hours. He is still in the hospital and may have to be there until Monday.

His regular vet was not in the first day I took him in. His groomer thought that it might be diabetes. His regular vet discovered right away what was wrong.

I have not heard from the doctor today.

And you would not believe all the things that happened to me on Wednesday. My grandkids' school had to be evacuated because of a gas leak.
They have been out of school for two days. My car stalled for no apparent reason, but made me nervous that it might do it again in heavy traffic. I even had to go to the dentist that day.

I can't believe that I have let myself get so attached to a little dog. He is five years old and I have had him longer than any other dog. Most of the dogs I have had were killed by an accident or I had to give them away because they didn't like city life, etc.

I'll stop by later or maybe tomorrow.

    Have a great evening.

Wow Sue is on the Christmas thing early. I did buy my first present last night. I was so proud of myself for getting an "early start". [IMG] I usually wait till December 23rd.

Betty, I comletely understand your attachment to your dog. Never feel badly about loving God's creation, especially when He gave us responsibility for them.

    Cheers, and God bless,

    Jim

I once loest a 100 dollars, which was soon replaced. Each time I lose a dog, another photo mounts the wall, a visual reminder of a friend gone on. I call it family.

Thankful, I'm so sorry to hear about Muffin. You knew something was wrong didn't you? He is going to be all right isnt' he?

Didn't you have trouble with your car stalling before and no one could find the problem; or was that someone else I'm thinking about?

Cindi, I HAD to start early. We're having our big family Christmas December 10th (I'm feeding 25) and I will be busy most of that week with my grandson's wedding!

We had some trouble with school work today and didn't finish early so our baking didn't get done. We will do it tomorrow when we can get an early start.

    Hi, Jim. [IMG]

Time to put supper on the table.

Doctor is optimistic that Muffin will be ok, but he still isn't home yet and if he doesn't release him by noon tomorrow, it will be Monday before he comes home.

No, this was first time for my car to stall. It did have a spark plug wire off once and was not getting proper power. I checked that. It is time for an oil change so I'll have them check belts and hoses, etc.

Thank you, for your kind words, Jim. I have been really upset about this. I feel it is my fault because I fed him something he should not have been eating or it could have been caused by the allergy shots that were given him. They will check and put him on a special diet. Actually, he was already on a special diet for his allergies so here we go again.

Muffin is where he should be right now. I'm glad you were alert to his actions and caught it when you did!

Brent and I are watching MONK and then we're heading for bed.

    Pleasant dreams all!

Thankful, sure hope poor Muffin will be OK. I lost my cat a few years ago. We had her for 9 years. I still miss her! Let us know how he is doing.

    Good morning all:

It is 32º this morning, heading for a high of 45º.

We need to rake the leaves again, now that they have all fallen off the trees. Brrrrrr

I am staying inside to bake today and I think Dale is going to hang the Christmas lights around the eaves of the house.

    I need coffee!

    Good Morning everyone!

Whew! The days keep getting busier! We've had fun the last two days though. Thursday the kids had thier karate awards and dinner afterward. Friday was the Reading is Fundamental distribution at Son and Bitsy's school and then Precious had a part in the eighth grade production of the "King and I".

This year I'm giving up being coordinator of the RIF program. I've done the job for the last 6 years. It was so nice to let someone else do the worrying. The new coordinator is did a great job! She is very well organized, unlike me, who couldn't remember which supplier I had used for the wonderful hardback books we had gotten last year.

The play was very well done. It was a pleasant surprise considering how I'd been led to believe that not everyone had learned their lines! The kids did a great job.

Thankful, I hope Muffin gets to come home soon. I'm the pet mama that drives the vet nuts calling and checking on my babies. I usually make the trip down to actually see them with my own eyes if I have to leave them overnight. Be aware though that they don't act or look well after being under the anithestic, especially the first day. Mine have always slept the biggest part of at least two days after I've gotten them home.

You and I also have car trouble in comman. My car will be in the shop until at least Monday afternoon. My first sign of trouble were some gauges that were acting up and then all of a sudden I had no heat. Seems there are two problems, the first being a faulty sensor in the gas tank that was keeping my fuel gauge from working correctly(by the grace of God alone, I didn't run out of gas because of it). The second is a gasket in my cooling system that was leaking out the coolant. That was the cause of no heat and the temp gauge that was constantly in movement. They also have a recall on the tail hatch to fix. Thank the Lord I'm still in warrenty! After just having to have my heat pump fixed, I don't have the funds to pay a big repair bill.

Sue, I want to bake today myself, but I'm not sure I'm going to get to it. I need to supervise the kids while we finish the holiday cleaning, cut out three items that have made it to my sewing table, and watch the Auburn/Alabama game! Cookies may have to wait until tomorrow.

We'll probably wait till Wednesday to hang the Christmas lights. It's supposed to be fairly warm that day. My hand won't hardly let me work outside if it's cold. They just stiffen right up and start hurting.

    Ya'll have a productive day.

    Cindi

Well, so far, I have made three batches of Alaska Logs, one large tin of dates and pecans, and one batch of Bark Candy.

I'm not done, but I'm getting there...

    Good Morning, everyone!

I called to check on Muffin this morning and the vet asked us to come for a visit (I didn't have to ask). He wanted us to bring his favorite food and toys. He especially wanted to see if Muffin would respond better. But he said you can't take him home.

I really didn't know what to expect. Poor little thing was back in the corner of the cage, but when he saw us, he perked up just like his old self. He was sooo happy to see us. We took him outside and he wanted me to hold him. Then he ran back inside to the door that led to the front. He wanted to go home! He didn't eat for us, but he has eaten a little bit and he drank water while we were there.

The girls told me that the doctor is taking care of Muffin personally and will be checking on him all weekend.

Ed had to drag me away to go home, but it was time for the clinic to close.

I'm going to watch the football game now.

    oops.
I just noticed that I wore two different shoes to the vet's office. No one noticed or at least they didn't say anything. I've got to get it together before Church tomorrow.

    Have a great afternoon everyone.

    Betty

    Evening all,

Thankful, I could never visit my pets at the Animal Hospital. It would tear us both up too much, so I just stayed away until they could come home.

I am going to bed. It has been a busy, productive, but tiring day.

    Pleasant dreams all!

    Thankful,
Pets ARE family, and don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise!! I'm glad to hear that Muffin was feeling well enough to play with you. God loves all creatures great and small. They might not have souls, but they have Life. Please keep us updated on Muffin's recovery. I'm praying for Muffin's quick recovery, and for you and Ed during this difficult time.
BTW don't worry about the mis-matched shoes. Just tell anyone that asks that you have another pair just like them at home. ;) [IMG]

    Good morning all,

We had a hard frost last night. The temp right now is 32F.

I didn't get to sleep until after 3:00 and got up at 6:00. It was a very short night.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.

    Good Afternoon,

I really like that verse, Sue. I rely on it, quote and read it often.

    Thanks, Rob, for your prayers.

Sue, the vet wanted us to visit to see if Muffin would perk up and He did. But he wanted to go home with us and that made it difficult.

I'm going to take a nap. The pianist was not in church this morning and I had her and my responsibilities to perform. And she will not be there tonight either.

Our pastor is ill and we had a substitute and about half of the usual congregation weren't there. I wonder if they have started their thanksgiving early.

    Catch you later.

    Take care,

    Betty

    Evening everyone!

It was quite warm here today. Rather unexpected, but we didn't waste it! Went to church, made the Wally World run and we put up our outside Christmas lights!

By the time we were finished, it was getting cold and starting to rain. :( It's going to be nasty here for the next couple of days.

    Time to cook supper....

    Evening Folks,

I am heading to bed early tonight since I only got three hours sleep last night and no nap today!

Tomorrow is grocery shopping and laundry day.
