snippet:As first lady Laura Bush looked on, Rice singled out his partner, Jason Claire, and Claire's mother. Rice referred to her as Dybul's "mother-in-law."
The celebratory moment for a gay couple was emblematic of the political identity crisis facing the Republican Party, two years after an election the GOP won in part by making gay marriage an issue and less than two weeks after revelations about a Republican House member's advances toward teenage boys.
For Republicans, the most difficult problem posed by the e-mail exchanges that former congressman Mark Foley had with pages is not necessarily the flagrant misbehavior of one member. Rather it's the fact that the investigation is exposing a politically awkward fact of life: some GOP leaders practice a more tolerant brand of politics in their office hiring than some in the party have preached on the campaign trail.
"They play somebody different on TV than they are in person," says John Aravosis, a gay blogger who used to work for Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska.

My comment: to put Condi on a scale she has done more incompetent things than competent....this could be another wacko scatterbrained blurtation as in calling bush "my husband" or it very well be a calculated move on the part of both women to put a finger in the eye of right wing
religious wackos that they perceive as "nuts" per Karl Rove.

Condi could also be trying to turn up a different heat and lose the heat of the revelation of the George Tenet meeting that indicted her as having a
Scarlett O'Hara moment before 9/11 as in being strongly warned of an impending attack from al qaeda.

It just may work or the news cycle is so filled with sex right now and the revelation of Rove playing the Religious Right for every vote he could milk out of them with bobble head agreement in front of their faces but behind their backs calling them "nuts".

    imho

    Daisy introduces a 4th element

that is another reason Daisy ...she very well may have been sincere as was Laura and the were trying to show grace. Nothing calculated just
    being sincere.

I just raise the questions for debate sake...what is bugging me is the total deflection and it could be about all the sex in the news at the expense of investigating the Tenet/Condi meeting that the 9/11 commision did not know about.
