Hey, to be honest, Murph, I for one would LOVE to see a conservative board. I would probably be labeled by others as ultra conservative, but hey, that's what I call myself.

The theme of the Baptist Board is that open and honest exhange can help each other. To be honest, I see more confusion  going on than anything else. I have dubbed this board as the 'Baptist Bored' [IMG] when I speak to my husband about some of the unbelievable debates, ex. virgin birth, abortion, and gay rights.

I'd like to learn about some subjects that I would only want to discuss with conservatives. Cause lets face it, those that aren't conservative likely won't agree and hijack well meaning threads.

We're getting off topic here. Let's get back on topic. If you want to discuss what makes a baptist "conservative," have at it, but do so in an apporpriate thread. If you want to start one, fine with me.

    Warm Christian greetings!

I believe it is an excellent idea to have a board only for people who, for example, hold to the innerrancy of the Bible. I have been dismayed by the fact that the moderators have allowed heretical views to be peddled on the BB. People who promote these views are doing the Devil's work and should be removed because of the damage they do to young Christians. I have, at times, considered removing my membership of this board in protest at this lack of discernmant by the moderators.

    Kind regards

    Robert J Hutton

Robert, you took the words out of my mouth [IMG]
We could have forums designed for those who hold to inerrancy(TomVols, Dr Bob, Justified, et al), and those who do not(Joshua, David Cooke, PostIt, et al)

I think the bottom line is whatever the board "owner" decides, is what goes. He has about the most popular Baptist Board around (certainly the best) and he has shown great control over it in a fair Christian manner to all visitors.

The board, by it's very fruits, show that the owner is taking it in the right direction and that God is blessing his efforts. I run a business board myself and it a chore. It is also a lot of responsibility. The work he has placed into this board show tremendous devotion to Jesus and the expanding of his kingdom. His only rewards for this is what God will grant him, and while on earth, the appreciation we give him for the spiritual work he has done. This also applies to the fantastic devotion of the moderators who without them, you would find this board in total chaos.

I do not feel comfortable asking him to "change" the board because of this segment or that segment of the board population. Let him do his work and we should do what we do best, which is POST and work within the divine plan of this board.

I think some of you have been deacons too long :D . Let's try letting the owner and moderators continue their calling in regards to this board without our petty demands.

"They will know we are Christians by our love."

You can love somebody into hell by not telling them the truth, such as in the "I'm okay, you're okay" philosophy.

To get back on topic, the Conservative Section is needed because liberals have already hijacked this thread numerous times.

It would be nice to have a serious conservative discussion without all the ancillary unrelated issues thrown into the stew. [IMG]

It would be very easy to have a private posting "Conservative Baptist Forum" with a password.

Just state all the Baptist Doctrines, and all that agree with them and the areas of separation, would be able post on this section, but all others would only be able to view.

When some one lied about their beliefs, just to get on the board, they would be banned and have to try again to get in with another name. Or summit for a lifting of a ban on them with a conformation that they have come to believe the stated Doctrines.

There is enough of us that stand on the "NARROW ROAD" to make it work.

You can also present a version of the "gospel" (a false gospel that adds a bunch of required beliefs that Paul condemns in Galatians and Romans) that misrepresents Christ so that people reject a true gospel that they think they've already heard.

Being a false witness is serious business.

    </font>
Which is why we need a conservative section on the Baptist Board so the truth can be told without endless interruption of false witnesses who dispute, pollute, and refute the truth of the Scriptures. :(

When you give a liberal multiply Biblical verses on a subject, they will give some to supposable support their abominations trying to make the Bible contradict itself, instead of letting the Bible back itself up.

And thus is why I close the way I do. And I have others that will be added as the weeks go by!

I think a conservative board would be great [IMG]

Just by reading the posts to this thread we see who would post on it and who wouldn't qualify. After all Josh already started a list
And I can see the many conservatives heartily agreeing to having one. It's the liberals that are disagreeing and finding the excuses not to have one. The confusion only comes when the "oranges" call themselves "apples" long enough that they think that the "oranges" will start being the "apples". Problem is, they will never grow like an "apple", never look like an "apple, and never smell like an "apple",hence... never be an "apple". ;)

Olive, you have no idea what I am, and I have argued against it. Just as I argued against removing a lot of the Catholics from restricted forums.

I think such a forum is a bad idea. No two Baptists on this whole board are going to agree on everything: should we have 20,000 separate forums, splitting off a new one each time two people in the same forum disagree??? Or should we accept this is a *discussion board*, and not a "pat ourselves on the back" board?

And I can see the many conservatives heartily agreeing to having one. It's the liberals that are disagreeing and finding the excuses not to have one....</font>
I am a conservative who disagrees. For one thing, we are all the webmaster's guests. There is a particular vision to this board, and there are other boards out there. A couple on which I used to lurk have gone to being password-protected and having a statement of faith.

Who would decide what is conservative? Conservatives differ on the exact timetable of Genesis, tithing, Bible translation preferences, whether or not a glass of wine is wrong, divorce and remarriage criteria, and on and on and on.

I believe in Biblical inerrancy, the resurrection, the literal imminent return of Christ, and other core beliefs that identify me as conservative. I am opposed to abortion and homosexuality. Yet there are those reading this tonight who would call me a liberal because I wear pants, have Christmas trees, read C.S. Lewis, had an epidural instead of enduring it, do not cover my hair, and think that THE NORTH WAS RIGHT!! :D

Justified, my grandfather would have called any man with your hairstyle you described a liberal, period.

I like this board the way it is.
