CNSNews.com) - New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, a Democrat, has riled conservatives for years, and news of his self-induced downfall has produced "widespread disgust," according to one pro-family group.

Just last month, another conservative group sought prayers to stop Spitzer's pro-abortion crusade.

"More than any governor, Spitzer has tried to destroy the man-woman marriage definition and to license homosexual 'marriages,' Randy Thomasson, president of the California-based Campaign for Children and Families, said on Monday.

Strong as these words may sound, "I don't".

One word that keeps coming up every time I hear his name mentioned. Arrogant. Good riddance to the man who championed drivers licenses for illegals and tried to issue subpeonas to crisis pregnancy centers which tried to dissuade young woman from having abortions.

To tell the truth, I never heard of this clown until yesterday. He sounds like a work of art. Champion against organized crime, except when he wants to pursue his hobby.

What an idiot. I hope he ends up in New York state prison with some he sent there and forms new and unique friendships.

America is better off with garbage like this out of power.

I guess I'm missing something. How can you not feel for his wife and children knowing what he has done to them?

Because his family is not my family.
Before he got himself into that mess, he should have thought about his wife and children first, and the effect of what he was going to do, on them.
    But, nah.
He's governor, top of the world, macho.
Besides, who's gon' find out, eh ?

Bottom line, he didn't give a thought and a care about his own family, why should I ?

I said the same thing about a neighborhood bully once, who tried to bully me, because I was half his size, and because I always crossed to the other side of the street when he was showing his ugly mug around.

Well, what he didn't know was I was a black belt kodokan judo holder.

He was down on his knees pleading to me to not kill him (which I wasn't going to do) after I've thrown him on the ground and used him to mop the street, because HE HAD A FAMILY (emphasis, not yelling).

He shoulda thought of them before he tried to become the tough guy of the street.

I've more respect for the Mafiosi, if what I've read about them from Donnie Brasco's own novel is true.

They care for their family, they don't let their family know when they're hossin' around, and when they get "the call" and know they ain't coming back, they don't look back. They just go and face the music.

    So.

I don't feel for his family.

He made his bed, he lies on it.

It wasnt his wife or children that paid for sex, yet they are paying a bigger price than even the man is, because they are innocent in this.

    Your response is heartless.

    whatever.
I stand by what I said.
You're a family man, and a public figure, you think of your family, if you have one, before you get into anything silly or compromising.
You look out for your own, because ain't nobody gonna look out for your own, except you.

This guy didn't, assuming that all these things are true.

If he don't care for his wife and kids, why should I ?

If it happened to me, I'd take the blows and I wouldn't even think of having my wife stand by my side in public, to show we're "united" as a family, because that would be more disrespect for her.

I think this guy already done that, as most politicians do, like that senator or something from the midwest who got accused of soliciting for gay sex.

And just for the record, there is an investigation going on, so Mr. Spitzer, just like everybody else, is assumed innocent until proven otherwise.

Having said that, from what I've read, it seems this prostitute angle was simply blown up by the media as THE cause.

It seems like this investigation has been going on for some months because of suspicious movements of money traced back to this guy here, and one activity that came under the fed's radar is Ms, Kristen.

    Dems and Reps.

Isn't this going to be a resume enhancement ? Barney Frank has enjoyed several promotions since his underage male brothel was shut down.

The way I understood it on the news this morning he may not be in trouble for the prostitution thing itself but he may be in trouble for some sort of illegal transfer of funds and arranging to take a prostitute across state lines ( from NY to DC)

And I do feel for his family. How tragic they must go through this.:praying:

Someone posted yesterday about the wife going out with the husband in scandal after scandal in Washington at his side with the sad face at the press conferences. After giving that some thought on a personal level, I do not think that is the reaction I would get from my wife.

I disagree very stongly with this sentiment.

It seems to me that God has a heart for the abandoned...particularly women and children. "Widows and orphans," strictly speaking, are made so by death...but many men (SPitzer included) essentially has caused the "death" of his relationship and home.

He has abandoned his family. And sorry...you're wrong. God cares. A lot.

And because He does, you should.

    I don't have to.
On a Canadian Christian radio this afternoon they were talking about this very issue.
Whether Mr. Spitzer will ever be able to rise up again, and so on.
And they were comparing him to other Christians who fell prey to the same sort of scandal, and whom God raised up again.
They named Jimmy Swaggart, for one.

    Hey.

Jimmy Swaggart, for all his theology that I disagree with, is a professed child of God who had served his Lord in the way he saw he was supposed to, and Mr. Spitzer is no comparison.
I felt sorry for Mrs. Swaggart AND Mr. Swaggart when that scandal happened to Mr. Swaggart because I KNEW that was the devil trying to bring down a preacher of God.
It was a moment of weakness for the man, he fell, just like I can fall, or you can fall, BUT IT'S NOT HIS NATURAL ENVIRONMENT anymore (not yelling, just for emphasis),

    What about Mr. Spitzer ?
    Who is he serving.
You know as much as I do what things he has always stood for.
He has no common ground with you, me, Mr. Swaggart, or God.
He fell as a result of his being in his natural environment.
He had no spiritual battle that he lost.

    He ain't my brother.
    And she ain't my sister.

They got one master they're serving, let him take care of them.

Don't compel me to feel sorry for people I don't feel sorry for.

we're not talking about Spitzer...we're talking about his wife and kids...and it seems to me you're ignoring how God feels about those who are abandoned.

like I said, "she ain't my sister".

    and you know what ?

I have the sneaking suspicion this is not the first time Mr. Spitzer has done this, so I think she's used to it.

anybody who says "this is his first time, boohoohoo" musta been born yesterday. Seems like he's perfected a technique for sneaking past his bodyguards.

another thing, I haven't seen Mrs. Spitzer, or the Spitzer kids, come out with a statement asking for pity. so me not feeling sorry for them actually respects that dignity, and I'm putting the blame on where it should be - Mr. Spitzer, who was actually the subject of the OP until somebody brought up the wife and kids.

    OK, then.

Guess we'll not agree on this one. I perfectly understand the feelings toward Spitzer. But even with your explanations...the same feelings toward the wife and kids...that, I don't get at all.

This posting was in response to Pinobaptist and a comment on his Jesus-like attitude toward others, but I cannot say what I would like, I would be banned. Suffice it to say, he shows no Christian character in his attitude toward others, but judging by his other posts this is not surprising.

It is difficult not to get angry at fools!
