Agreed. And to state otherwise is not implied in my post. [IMG]

The current political State is not there because it is the apple of God's eye. All of the promises that God made about restoring Israel after they rebelled were always based on Israel turning to God. The current population in Israel has clearly not met that requirement.

So, LadyEagle, even if your eschatology is correct(which I sincerely doubt) the current manifestation of Israel does not meet the Biblical requirements. If there is going to be a true fulfillment of the promise that your eschatology is built on concerning Israel, then it will be a different nation of Jews at a different time than the current population of Jews in the Holy Land.

These promises don't sound as if they meet YOUR requirements about Israel turning to God:

ISA 45:4 "For the sake of Jacob my servant, of Israel my chosen, I summon you by name and bestow on you a title of honor, though you do not acknowledge me.
5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me,
6 so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other."

ISA 54:5 "For your Maker is your husband - the LORD Almighty is his name - the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.
6 The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit - a wife who married young, only to be rejected," says your God.
7 "For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back."

And where might this "different" nation come from if not including the "current" population of Jews? You are buying into the conspiracy theory that the current population of Jews in Israel is comprised of imposters - Khazars posing as Jews.

That anti-Semite notion is an old one and here is only one source that refutes that notion:

    Source

Also, the nation of Israel is comprised of more than just Jews (from the tribe of Judah). There were 11 other tribes which have been scattered throughout the world, but some are beginning to realize who they are, as recent studies of DNA are proving. The surname "Cohen" is being DNA linked to the tribe of Levi, not Judah, for instance. [IMG]

Oh, and if you hold to the conspiracy theory that the current residents of Israel are not Jews, but merely "imposters," then you must believe the rest of the conspiracy theory, too - that Anne Frank was not a Jew, that the millions of Jews tortured and killed in concentration camps and/or their survivors are not Jews, either, because of those who survived that evil blot on human history, many settled to comprise the Nation of Israel as we know it today, though she is not recognized as a legitimate nation by the anti-Semite crowd.

I had never heard of such and I do not support such an idea. The Jews in the current political State of Israel are truly Jews by ethnicity. However, they do not occupy the land they do because they turned back to God, a turning that is Biblically necessary according to even your own eschatological theory.

I don't have to come up with how another group of Jews might occupy the Holy Land since, being a non-dispensationalist, I don't believe there is such a promise still extant after 70 A.D. that ethnic Jews are Biblically guaranteed a return to the Holy Land.

Why is so much being discussed over the events of something that happened so long ago? Especially something that falls under the guise of a conspiracy theory?

However, I must agree with Ken on the topic of the State of Israel. The State of Israel today bears no relation to the Nation of Israel of the OT. Even former Israeli prime minister Shimon Peres has said so, numerous times.

Peres said that in an interview printed several years ago in the Orange County Register. I don't believe they're online anymore.

I disagree with Ken & John about Israel. Today, right as we speak, you can see several nations lining up against her, just like the bible says they will.

That's okay, Bro. Curtis. Since there are about a gazillion different interpretations in eschatology just about every Christian disagrees with just about every other Christian on some eschatological point. [IMG]

I agree. But to write off present day Israel as not the real chosen nation is a real easy way to justify not supporting her.

What do you make of Ezekiel 33 ?

Why? I don't cease my support for Great Britain because it is not a chosen nation. I support nations that it is in the interest of my country to support.

I have not chosen among the gazillion different interpretations of Ezekiel 33, other than to reject the dispensational ones. [IMG]

    I see. [IMG]

Since I see no great super-power from the west in scripture, and since Israel wins, with the help of the allmighty, I feel pretty good in saying I'm on her side.

    Along with Ezekiel 33, read Daniel 8 & 9.

And I don't know what a dispensasionalist is. I've also been told I'm arminian. But my dad's folks are from Scotland.

I don't think that one shoul presume that, just because one disagrees with zionism, that one doesn't support Israel. I certainly support Israel, because the present day State of Israel has an autonomous right to exist, just as every other nation has a right to exist.

What I disagree with is the occaisional poster who insists we must support Israel unconditionally in all they do, as though Israel can do no wrong. Israel has done plenty of wrong, and needs to face the concequences just like any other nation. That being said, I don't think Israel has done anything that relinguishes its sovereign right of existence.

    Thank you, Bro. Curtis. [IMG]

I have read the entire Bible. I simply have reached different conclusions on some issues than you have.

But Christians need only be in agreement on the essentials of the faith, not the eschatological non-essentials that go beyond simply believing in the second coming of Christ Jesus.

Just looking for your interpretation, since mine is wrong. Surely, on a Bible thumpin' internet blogspot, this is not too much to ask ? That you tell me what you think of certain scriptures ? Instead of just saying the other is wrong, perhaps you could help a wayward christian brother, and and teach him how to properly divide scripture. Isn't that what we do ? Or do we just pass by the person struggling, like the parable of the good Samaritan ? We look, point, and say "silly person, can't even divide scripture", and I wait, with my bleeding wounds of misread prophecy.

C'mon, step up, and tell me all about where the Israel of the O/T went.
