    Fear of the government and big business is a liberal position not conservative.

    So that explains it. Over here everyone is shocked at how conservative the American media are.

    Fear of the government is a conservative hallmark, while fear of big business would be more liberal. However, fear of the "big bad liberal media" has also generally been a conservative obsession. But people often in the course forget that the media is big business! The liberals are more aware of that, even though it may seem strange for them to make conspiracy theories against it when it is seen as being on their side.
