The US Constitution does NOT authorize any foreign aid. I know to most people in America the US Constitution is just a piece of American history and doesn't really matter anymore.

If our nation chooses to simply ignore the parts of the Constitution that we don't like, what will become of our Constitutional Republic?

There are already those in both of the major parties who are in favor of doing away with, or re-writing the Constitution, and pushing our nation away from a Constitutional Republic, towards becoming a Democracy.

I choose to side with our founding fathers in the understanding that a democracy is dangerous and that our nation has to abide by the US Constitution or it will self-destruct.

I think the best method of reform is to do away will all of the unconstitutional spending, reduce the government back to it's constitutionally limited size, and give the American people their money back to do what the Lord leads them to do with it. If they want to help the foriegn nations then they should be allowed to do so.

And I think we ought to plough up all the concrete and asphalt highways and have dirt roads again. Every man responsible for the road in front of his house.

And the government should not build or repair bridges. If the citizens want to cross the rivers let them swim or build boats.

Talk about reforms - let's get rid of all government and go back to the dark ages.

SO, Gershom, show me in the Bible where Israel gave money to the pagan nations around them. To do so would have invoked the judgment of God. You cannot help but create confusion by taking Scriptural injunctions given to individuals or to the church and try to apply them to the govt. You're on the right track, Hardsheller, except the point is - these particular things you mention are a legitimate function of local and state government, but not the feds.

    Now you're being ridiculous, Hardsheller.

Amazing how people will go to extremes just to defend big government and big government programs, let alone waste. Especially if it's "our guy" in charge.

I guess it doesn't matter about the millions of tax dollars that were handed over in Iraq that are unaccounted for either. Seem to have disappeared without a trace.

    Pastor,

You should know very well from the Bible you preach that giving to the poor and needy is a biblical principle and that giving to those who are in need does not rely upon an example of Israel giving money to pagan nations. C'mon. You can do better than that.

What I really want to know is how posters here can claim Peroutka will not hang up his Christianity if he were President, while at the same time arguing for separation!

Actually Article I, Section 8. of the US Constitution does give the Congress the job of establishing "roads". ;)

Yeah, But it doesn't say anything about maintaining them. Go to your next town meeting, I'll guarantee you one of the biggest complaints will be - "When are you going to fill that Pothole in the street?"

My biggest problem with Peroutka is that he is saying that Israel should not be given prefrential treatment. The Bible clearly states otherwise. Whoever blesses Israel should be blessed and whoever curses Israel should be cursed. I believe the only reason that our country is doing as well as it is now despite the evil in our country is that we still are blessing Israel!!! If that were to stop under Peroutka, what would happen to America????

    Just my opinion....

I think the point is that the Federal Government is not empowered to redistribute the wealth to whom it sees fit. Local, State governments can handle filling in potholes. The Federal government is generally incompetent when it comes to charity.

    Peroutka will not curse Israel!

How is giving Israel $2.1 billion per year in military aid, which is used to buy U.S. military equipment, and $600 million per year for economic support equal to blessing Israel?

Present day Israel has little to do with the Israel spoken about in the Word of God.
