I have XP and have learned that it has its on cd copying process, which I tried, does not work for me. Tried Nero, no good. Yes I used a new CD-RW and it is a no go.

    Any ideas.

How about Roxio Easy CD Creator? That seems to do well for me.

I have xp and use nero all the time without problems.

Some details of what is happening/not happening might help.

Nero has a download of a newer version I think, you might try it.

Not sure but think that windows media player has burn capability, though might be limited to video/audio don't know.

It all depends on what you are trying to burn.

Are you trying to burn music onto a CD? Or are you trying to put programs on one? Or are you trying to make a bootable disk?

    OK, I have XP and a Samsung CD-R/RW-252F [CD-Romdrive]

I am trying to copy text files to cd, it seems to work with cd-r but not with cd-rw.

Also I have and old Quicken 6 program, it has a backup feature, takes you to E Drive, but says it is not writable.

    Thanks

I've had issues with cd-rw myself. i can burn it and read it on my computer, but not on others. But I think it is the other drives. I just use cd-r's now... they're cheaper anyway.

Quicken may not recognize the drive. Check with the manufacturer's site for any updates for it.

You might go to device manager and see if anything is listed as having problems. Also be sure to check for new drivers for the cd drive.

    (start/control panel/system/hardware tab/device manager)

Thanks for the help. I will be trying these options. As for as Quicken, I had a program about 8 years old, I bought Quicken 2006 Basic and it solved my copy problems, almost. I can copy on the CD-R but not on CD-RW.

I would like to know why they don't work.

Again I am running XP Pro

Ok, I think i found something for XP users with CD-RW problems. On Window XP website, they say there is a "hot fix "for this problem, but add that if the problem is not affecting you to badly to wait for the next "XP service pack" which will contain this "fix" among others.

I can copy with CD-R and will wait for the new "service pack"

I have copy onto CD-Rs and CD-RWs regularly and I have Windows XP. Never had any trouble.
