Now you've slipped into Britishisms in your spelling. Maybe you didn't realise it. [IMG]

Do you mean "language" or "dialect"? Obviously, American English, Elizabethian English, British English, and Ebonic English are all the same language.

Ebonics is the language (dialect)of a "people". Debate it all you want. I taught 7th grade in W. Dallas for two years and had to become fluent to survive. But do we really want an "Ebonic Version"? Take it to it's logical conclusion brother!

There is no need to grasp at straws (or grain) like this to express the need for up to date translations. It is already clear that 1611 English is outdated. This grain/corn example is simply a poor choice on which to base an arguement.

English is a language, all I mentioned above are dialects. Why can't Americans simply learn to use English like the majority of the English speaking world ;) ?

Might I suggest that you read the classic book, The American Language by H. L. Mencken.

When we won the War of Independence, we won the right to speak American English! [IMG]

It's time for breakfast, I'm going to eat some corn flakes.

Lacy Evans:My son is a fish this year and he acts pretty corny. I think he's just feeling his oats. I just take it with a grain of salt.

This thread is so corny that I believe I'll move on to another "field"!

Wow, thanks to everyone who posted on this thread for a really good discussion. I really enjoyed the good attitude and humor included.

Lacy, I printed our that eubonics Lord's prayer, that was great.

I do have another verse I would like to ask about and will start a new thread on Ex 25:5. I hope I will see you all there.
