The scripture is clear that Cornelius feared God before he believed the Gospel of His Salvation, which was sent to him of God by Peter. We read in Acts 10:2,22 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. 22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. You know there is a Blessing Upon the Man that Fears God. Ps 112:1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. Ps 128:1 Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord. 5 The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. Cornelius was Like Job before the Lord Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. Also before Cornelius believed the Gospel, scripture says that he was a Just man Acts 10:22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. That too has a blessing attached to it, for remember Noah Gen 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. Prov 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. Prov 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Was not that True with Cornelius ? Was not his path unto the Light of the Gospel ? 2 Cor 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Thats exactly what God to that Just Man Cornelius !
