The money could be put to better, more positive use.
So, did it become Obamas war in 2008?
Not sure what that has to do with the OP. Obama inherited the war. I think history will always call it Bush's war as he is the one who initially sent in the troops.
Salty, don't you think that money could have been put to better use?
When a tyrant dictator uses WMD's on his own people and invades another sovereign country should we not help our neighbors?
I think you have your wars mixed up Rev.
Off the topic and irrational, as usual.
Rev. could that money have been spent more wisely?
OK, where did you get these numbers from? Did you even bother to fact check them?
That money should have been given to Crabby to teach liberal theology to the whole world--that way everyone could have gone to hell with a full belly.
When you do not like someone's response you falsely claim it is off topic and irrational. You are like a borken record. My answer is much more sane that your op as it considers facts that lead to the war rather than just a blind agenda.
The conversation you are trying to have (devoid of details and facts) are exactly why liberals are so ignorant to what is going on around them. It is why Obama says the very dumb things that he does ie (The USA is now well respected in the world).
It is impossible to have a conversation about the value of the war as compared to other things we can spend money on if we do not include in that conversation why we went into Iraq in the first place. The reason determines its value.
But you want to skip past that determination and jump straight to comparisons against other things. Liberals may be able to do such things but those of us who actually think through these issues must measure the facts first. We do not serve blind political agenda's like Left wing liberal Careville said guys like you do.
Does anyone else see the irony here? Mitch is pretty much the GOP version of Crabby. Both are blindly loyal to their respective parties and both often post things that are easily picked apart. You two are like Yin and Yang.
Off the topic, irrational and hysterical.
We went to war because of lies that lay behind war hawks wanting oil and money, and crazies who thought they could force a Mid-East war which would force Christ to return.
Could that money have been spent more wisely.
You do realize that since FY2010, the Obama administration has authorized (including a FY2015 request) $150 billion for Iraq? (I didn't include FY2009 because he took office in Feb 2009; the 2009 budget had already been approved and was in force as of October 2008). The Bush administration authorized (including FY2009) $671 billion.
The Obama administration has authorized (including a FY2015 request) a total of $523 billion for Afghanistan. Contrarily, the Bush administration only authorized $221 billion for Afghanistan (including FY2009).
Total authorization under Bush: $892 billion.
Total authorization under Obama: $673 billion.
It may be Bush that started it; but Obama has paid for 43% of it.
You know what I am not going to let you get away with this this time. Break it down for us. Just how is it that my posts are irrational, off topic and hysterical specifically?
How is talking about the reasons we went into war off topic?
How is making a complete comparison of the value of going into Iraq irrational?
Please tell us all.
Well let me see it could have been used to place Bibles in schools for those children who didn't have one, it could have been used to stop abortions from continuing, it could have been used to payoff the national debt that started under JFK and LBJ. It could have been used to give pay increases to our military. It could have been used for school vouchers to send children to private schools instead of to the public schools. It could have been used to promote marriage of a man and woman only. It could have been used to fund creation research. It could have been used for many things, instead it was used to stop tyranny in another nation.
You know, Kerry and Clinton are going to have to answer for their votes in Congress authorizing this, but I suppose Hillary really believed that a war in Iraq could force Christ's return since Hillary is just dumb enough to believe a stupid notion like that. You have to be stupid to believe that man can force an omnipotent God into a Second Advent.
Not going to let you get away with that one either. So where is this oil we confiscated from Iraq? If we went there for money also how come the war cost so much?
Why does that question sound so familiar?
But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, *said, "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii, and given to poor people?" Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.
John 12:4-6 NAS77
For the years of the Iraqi war/occupation, 2003-2011, the interest on the ENTIRE U.S. DEBT averaged about $350 Billion per year. The cost of the Iraqi war/occupation was about $800 billion.
If you take $350B and multiply it by 40 years you get $14 trillion. OP claims the interest on the Iraqi war totaled up over 40 years would be $7 Trillion, or half the amount of interest on ALL U.S. DEBT for 40 years.
In 2014 the U.S. debt is about $17 trillion and the interest on that was $430 Billion. So how in the world can the Iraqi war, at a cost of $800 billion create $7 trillion in interest payments over 40 years?
Furthermore, take the $800 billion spent on the war and charge off 5% interest rate per year (way higher than it is now, but OK) and plug it into a spreadsheet as a loan for 40 years and the total amount paid, principal plus interest = $1.85 Trillion.
So don't post crap about the interest on the debt from the Iraqi war over 40 years will cost the U.S. $7 trillion, when in fact it would be about $1 trillion.
 Can't hardly wait for his answer.
IF Obama thought the war was a waste - why did he NOT pull all troops out within 90 days.
Now, you say the war cost 7 trillion. If we were NOT at war- how much of that would NOT have been spent. We would still have an Amry - they still would have been training at a Stateside base.
And BTW, Education is NOT a Federal responsibility.
