A few Alabama NCAA records as of January 2, 2006

    Most bowl appearances - 53
    Most bowl wins - 30
    Most 10 win seasons - 28

    Pretty decent record, huh?

Roger, that is good. The only problem so many of the Tide folks have is they won't be happy until the Bear is back on the sidelines coaching. I don't think they are going to be happy.

I am over the moon with Coach Shula. He is exaclty what Bama needs. If only they will stick with him.

How much of Shula's success if due to Joe Kline(might have his name wrong). I have a guy who lives down the street from me who is much higher on Joe than Shula. Joe's D is doing well but the O is lacking. Players getting hurt don't help.

Let's all forget about the Auburn Loss. after all Bama won the Cotton bowl against the number #1 passing offense in the nation. Auburn lost their bowl which says that Bama just had one bad day. the only other team that beat bama was LSU and had to do that in overtime.
With Joe Kines ( THE SECRETARY OF DEFENSE) and Mike Shula and the players that will be bck next year look out we are headed for Number #1 spot next year.

    RRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL TTTIIIIIIDE!

I do attribute much of the success to Joe K. Offensive injuries have been devestating the last couple of years.

I think Coach Shula just as the "persona" it takes to direct the programme at UA.

That must have been a good game. I read the results in the paper this morning and WOW Texas Tech got what they deserved! The description of the field goal that won the game was really something!

Sounds like a lot of these games have had an exciting finish.

Here is a highlight link that shows the ugly kick that won it.

    mms://od-msn.msn.com/22/mbr/cf_060102_cotton.wmv

The "external application" that it wants to open is Windows Media Player and it is safe.

You will need to copy and paste the link into your browswer address window for it to work.

I know Joe was at Ar. for awhile but was he a War Eagle D coach at one time?
I hope Shula keeps moving forward because I think college football is better when the Tide is doing well.
That was one good game to watch, I enjoyed it.

[IMG] You sound just like a friend of mine that is a Bama fan. Just cannot stand that you got beat by Auburn, huh? [IMG]

Before you get too excited about beating Texas Tech...they were not really that good this year, after Texas, the Big 12 is way down.

But I do agree that college football is better when Bama is playing good.

Isn't Auburn the school which wanted to run Tommy T. back to Ms. or out of town a few years ago? I guess they love him now.

Don't forget that Bama suffered some NCAA penalties only a few years ago. Their recruiting will catch up... then they'll have an offense to match the defense.

Loss of scholarships and bowl eligibility both hurt recruiting.

I think 2006 is finally the first year free of penalties. With a 10-2 season, pride restored, and a young likeable coach Bama may be on the way back to power.

It will take two or more probably 3 more years. Croyle was unique in that he was a good prep who went to Bama anyway. They don't have a QB in this year's recruiting class yet and probably don't have a realistic shot at anyone listed on their board.

A JuCo QB could accelerate the process. Otherwise, they will continue to be one dimensional on offense which just about guarantees that they can't win their SEC.
