It is true that ACI has had somewhat of a questionable past, however, this seems to be behind them. Is it possible that ACI has now become--although not USDoE recognized--a sincere effort at alternative accreditation? [IMG]

I think the problem is not only the past of ACI but the perceived quality of some of the schools (such as Andersonville and others) that leads to problems in perception. I do not have personal knowledge of these schools only what I have seen reported on degreeinfo and other forums.

There does not seem to be much point in ACI, except to accredit schools that cannot meet National Accreditation standards. DETC does not even require a library and accredits completely distance learning programs (eg what was Berean and is now Global). So, yes many schools cannot meet TRACS physical plant requirements, and residential program requirements but they surely can meet DETC. So, one questions the decison to seek ACI when one could have recognized accreditation unless the school cannot meet standards.

==Just a quick note. Many fully accredited schools offer degrees totally online/distance education (graduate and undergraduate) with no residency requirements. Schools such as East Carolina University, NC State, and Liberty University (all regionally accr.). This makes ACI look even more un-needed.

Martin is absolutely correct. Many opportunities.
Unaccredited schools like those accredited by ACI are not left with a whole lot of support for their situation.

On suspects that the schools could not be accredited by a Regional or National Accreditor (one recognized by the US DoE/CHEA).
