It sure does seem so. Honestly, I don't expect it from Rocko, he's usually one of the more saner posters.

Nope, not trying to redirect, trying to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Quotes by anonymous posters on a message board about public figures are far different than public figures commenting publicly on other public figures.

Brother Curtis can't post those links because he can't find something that has not happened: public figures calling Ann Coulter slanderous names in a public forum.

As far as anonymous posters calling her or other public figures names on a message, board consider the source. If my opinion matters to you, then yes I do denounce those who call Rush "pig" or Ms. Coulter "whore". I can't really see where those terms belong in political debate.

Never said they did. This is your dream, and your's only. I don't know where it came from.

But, I say public figure has nothing to do with it. She has as much right to speak as M.P.

Thank you. Your opinion does matter. So you can see the hypocrisy. Next time, maybe it'll be you that holds MP's feet to the fire.

As a side, my comments about Brian the dog only mettered, in the context that he was making fun of gays. If people want to watch that show, I would not judge them. It's too much for me, but that's me. It's none of my business what people watch on TV, and I would never question anyone's walk with Christ, because of an avatar.

I respect magnetic poles, even if we lock horns once in a while. And when I goof, people should let me know.

But, even I am guilty. Name calling happens way too much. I wouldn't want someone talking about me like Ann Coulter talks about people. And this is coming from a guy who's been called some pretty bad things, right here. (Not by most)

Anyways, I hope everyone knows why I made such a big deal about this.

I do not agree with Coulter's statement recently in regards to John Edwards. I think her speech would have been just fine without it. However, I own most of her books and find that I agree with far more of what she says than I disagree with.

I also like Barbara Olsen's books. I was saddened when she was killed in the plane that hit the Pentagon on 9/11.

I know, I just put a lightening rod on my head. Oh well. Not the first - not the last.

Brother Curtis, I apologize if it seems I'm picking on you specifically in the postings. Looking back on them I see where I may have given that impression and I sincerely apologize. The problem with message boards is that tone can come across harsher in print than in spoken words sometimes. I'll try to be more careful in the future.

I know you didn't specifically say a public figure had made those comments about Coulter. My point was that no one could link those type things being said about Coulter by public figures. MP isn't a public figure and his comments won't be on WORLD NEWS TONIGHT or on youtube in the morning. There are just some things that public figures shouldn't say in public without expecting to be called on it.

Also I don't think because one is a public figure ,whether it be Rush or John Edwards, that they (or their families) should expect to be slandered by other public figures. IMO, it was just as wrong for Al Franken to call Rush a big fat idiot as it is for Coulter to call John Edwards a faggot.

One of the better articles I've seen on the Coulter situation:

    http://www.evangelicaloutpost.com/archives/003476.html

    Just a brief excerpt:

"There really is no excuse for accepting her as one of our own. Perhaps if she had keen insight and a rapier wit, her cutting barbs might be endurable. But Coulter's "humor" slices like a shard from a Mountain Dew bottle found on a meth lab floor. Her remarks leave jagged gashes that grow infected and fester with pus, infecting all of us in the process.

Conservatism deserves better, deserves more civility and less Coulter. The fact that she is tolerated--much less admired--by conservatives is evidence that we have lost our philosophical moorings. If the Big Tent of conservatism really has room for the likes of Coulter, then it might just be time to close this circus down".

Ain't it funny how once everything settles down, people pretty much agree. While I find Ann mildly amusing, and I do listen to Rush, almost daily, I recognize most of America is niether left or right, but somewhere in the middle. America isn't as divided as the American media is.

And going back, I share your anger at Hillary with her fake accent, 'specially 'cuz my dad, a jail minister, from San Antonio, never sounded like that.

I'm going to do my best to not call anyone names, no matter how tempted I am.

I appreciate the kind words Bro.Curtis and I will say this when I see debates going askew and getting ugly I think about how dignified Bro. Curtis treats others even though they don't see eye to eye. Daisy comes to mind and though some may go too far overboard in their comments to Daisy Bro. Curtis really takes the High Road and dosen't allow it to become a personal battle. This is proof that people can disagree and still be friends.
As for Ann Coulter or Bill Maher ,these people are oppurtunist that make their living by being outrageous and many times foul mouthed ( not placing judgement, just stating observation) so for the most part I pay very little attention to these type of folks.

Thank you for those words. I find your posts some of my favorites, and when you're on, nobody is funnier.

This thread has gone on way too long and is on page 12, past the 10-page limit. On Brother Curtis' behalf, I will note that he is correct about some of the things that have been said about public figures on this Christian BB, and some of those comments do not have links to them because they were deleted or edited out for language (by me) that did not meet BB criteria.

This thread is now closed without warning.
