In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled Monday that several high-ranking government officials cannot be sued for their official actions in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Think about the implications of this ruling and what it could mean in future administrations. I'm thinking this one over. It should be interesting to see what editorialists say about the ruling.

I didn't think you could ever sue a government official acting in his role as a government official.

Why was this 5-4 and who was on what side? (The article isn't loading).

This has raised several questions in my mind.

    1. At what level does this immunity end? At GS18, GS 11, GA3?

    2. Is the immunity only for cabinet level officials?

    3. Does this not strike very close to the defense Nazi officials used in their own defense, "I was only following orders."

This seems a can of worms that has been opened ... and I wonder what it means for our future and protection the average person from an over anxious governmental agency?

I expect I will ponder other questions that come to my mine as I think on this decision.
