    A. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Romans 8:23

By which covenant do we have the firstfruits of the Spirit?

    Consider:
And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Gal 3:17-19

V 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

    B. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

By which covenant will we receive the redemption of the body?

Also as a reminder Job is the oldest book of the Bible, so from early on, there was a clear understanding of the resurrection

The New Covenant. All of God's promises centre on that (2 Corinthians 1:20). Long before the coming of Christ and the New Covenant, it had been promised: first to Adam in Genesis 3:15; then to Noah, to Abraham and to David. These are the 'covenants of promise' (Ephesians 2:12). The O.T. saints looked forward to Christ by the light that they had been given (eg. John 8:56), in just the same way as we look back to the cross.

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; Titus 1:2 Does that trump them all? Do they all proceed forth because of that promise?

Are we presently inheritors or heirs, thereof?

This is the Covenant or Council of Redemption, sometimes called the Covenant of Grace. Here the three Persons of the Trinity covenant together for the salvation of mankind. It is most clearly seen in Ephesians 1:3-14, where the work of each Person is delineated by the phrase, 'to the praise of His glory' (or something similar). In vs. 3-6, we see the work of the Father in electing a people and predestining them to salvation. In vs. 6-12, we have the work of Christ in redeeming the elect through the shedding of His blood on the cross, and in granting them an inheritance in heaven. In vs. 13-14, there is the work of the Holy Spirit in sealing the elect and in giving us Himself as an 'earnest' or 'guarantee' of our salvation.

The other covenants are really the outworking and fulfilment of this covenant.

In many parts, and many ways, God of old having spoken to the fathers in the prophets, in these last days did speak to us in Son - From Heb 1:1,2 YLT & I removed the article, "a," which preceded Son.

Can John 1 be seen in the above?

In many parts, and many ways, God of old having spoken (the Word was with God and the Word was God) to the fathers in the prophets, in these last days did speak, (The Word was God) to us in Son. (The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.)

But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. Matt 1:20 NKJV
But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born [fn] of a woman, born under the law, Gal 4:4 NKJV fn or made

    The Word (that which God speaks) was made flesh and dwelt among us. The balance of Hebrews 1:2 YLT whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He did make the ages;
    Whom (The Word made flesh, Son) He (God, ie The Father) appointed heir of all things, through whom also He did make the ages;

Was the Word made flesh, the only begotten Son, conceived in woman out of Holy Spirit, appointed heir of all things. Did the Son, conceived out of Holy Spirit, born in the flesh become the heir of the promise of God made before the world began, the hope of eternal life? Did this Son die?

Are we who have had the Holy Spirit poured upon, now said to be the heirs of the hope of eternal life? Titus 3:6,7

Romans 6:9 NKJV knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.

Has the Son, who was born of woman and who died inherited the promise of God?

Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. Gal 3:19

Before the world began God mediated the promise of the hope of eternal life for the Word made flesh. IMHO that is the Word of God.

Abraham by election became a joint heir of the same promise through his seed, singular, Christ.

    Ezekiel 37:1-14

1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

Personally I believe this is one of the blessings given to Abraham's progeny of faith.
Yes this is addressed to Israel but the abrahamic covenant extends to ALL the nations (goyim).

An actual covenant between the three persons of the Godhead taught in the Bible.
    Clear as mud.

Think the Covenant of Works is not that implicit though in the Bible, as Think that God would not be basing basing salvation/eternal life on man being obedient always to Him, as He had in mind the Cross from eternity already...

We were discussing the Covenant or Council of Redemption, not the Covenant of Works.
But I think the CoW is pretty clear as well.
The are two parties to the covenant- God, the senior party, and Adam, the junior party (Genesis 2:7).
There is a task for Adam- Obedience.
There is a reward for obedience- eternal life in idyllic surroundings in return for light gardening duties (Genesis 2:15)..
There is a penalty for disobedience- spiritual death (Genesis 2:16).
Adam stands as our Federal or covenant head- when he falls, we fall (1 Corinthians 15:21-22).

But you are correct that God had the cross in mind from eternity. The rescue plan for mankind was ready as soon as Adam fell (Genesis 3:15, 21).

Si the Covenant of Works was a legit offer from God to Adam, but God already jbew that Adam and Eve would fall, so He always had the Cross to cover that?

Trying to squeeze eternity into the river of time with a beginning and an end will result in the confusion of our thought process or worse.

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: ...

Did God know they would fall or Did God design them, and subject them, to fall, to bring about, the cross of Christ, which would redeem them and accomplish the purpose of creating them in the first place?

    The Word of God>
    Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. Rom 8:20 NKJV For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (the spiritual law?) 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

The purpose. 1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

I also see the redeemed man as being a part of this bruising of the devil. Romans 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

The promise of God, who cannot lie Titus 1:2, was for the heir of God, the Son Heb 1:1,2, the Son born of woman, in time Gal 4:4 the seed of Abraham Gal 3:16,19,21 and we through Him have become joint heirs with him. Rom 8:14,15,29 and Titus 3:7 < Is that not the Word of God?
