I enjoy the music of the American Rock Band Creed. On there album cover it states that they give thanks to God. There lyrics seem to be quite good and uplifitng also. So are they a popular Christian Band in the U.S? What is the story there?

They are a very popular band in the US. But they are not a Christian band. They have expressed this almost right from the beginning. Their lyrics are quite spiritual, and seeking the truth if you read them carefully. I heard the lead singer's former youth group leader speak last year, and he talked about Scott's adolescence, and how he was troubled as a youth. Nothing seemed to reach him, although he told his youth minister several times that he kept coming to church because he knew that something was different about the people there.

We need to keep praying for this young man, and the other members of Creed, that they will find Christ in their search for Him. In the search for truth, the only real truth one can find is in Christ.

    Hope this helps,

I've heard several interviews of Scott and the band on MTV and other places. He uses profanity a lot and drinks. This doesn't say that he isn't a Christian, but it does raise some eyebrows. I do not recommend Creed to my students or their parents for that reason.

I also have heard them say many times straight-out...they are not a Christian Band.

I will try to find an online interview with the lead singer, I read about a year or two ago, who very bluntingly speaks out about it.

That is interesting, I find there lyrics to be very much different to Secular stuff, I enjoy a number of there tracks. Hopefully if they are searching, then they will find the answers.

He is a Rebellous Penetcostal. His Father was a Pentecostal Preacher. One minute he is a christian, next minute he professes to not be one.

I have not found his interview, but when I do i will post it.

    Good point.

Do any of you think that he wrote his songs with the intention of sounding spiritual, or was he simply writing about that which he knows? [They do say that art imitates life.]
