It has been insinuated that strong language only comes from the likes of Ann Coulter. And that her influence has taken hold among conservatives being described as "Coulterization".

It appears however that people are people and are simular in many ways on both sides of the fence.

Listen to Rhandi Rhodes, or read the daily Kos, . You want ill-informed vitriol ? You can't swing a dead cat without hittin' it. And it comes from everywhere.

The difference is that until you posted the link to his blog, I had never heard of Larry Johnson. Ann Coulter on the other hand is a bestselling author and a media darling with rightwing outfits like Fox News who give her plenty of airtime to spew her venom.

The daily Kos isn't a person, but a collection of people. I didn't see anything there to compare to Ms. Coulter or even Freepers.

    RevMitchell,

Strong words aptly used are wondrously rare. "Strong words" are not the problem with Coulter - it's the misuse and abuse of them.

Ok, Bro C, since you mentioned her a couple of times, I went to her web-site and listened to a couple of Rhandi Rhodes audio clips (I didn't see any writings, which I prefer as my audio-attention span is, um, not great).

Her manner is a bit crude for my taste - her riff on Santorum's "fetus" for example - but I didn't notice any out and out lies. OTOH, I would not be shocked if you were to find an example. Her whole spiel did seem to be based on the partisan "Republicans bad" theme - which is tedious and ultimately false.

The daily Kos, though, has a broader range and a lot more interest.

    Huh?

    I'm talking about
    • the daily Kos which Bro Curtis compared to Coulter,
    • "Strong words" which I picked up from you, which is, I suppose, a variation of "strong language" and
    • Coulter, the perennial favorite
Was there was any particular thing you didn't understand?

And I am saying that the use of the phrase "Coulterization" ignores the fact that it is just not Coulter. This is a people trait not a Republican trait, clearly.

That wasn't disputed - it that what you didn't understand?

    Still, Ann's the poster child.

Didn't Al Franken write a book?

    Wait a minute...

Doesn't he have a radio program? Or did it already shut down?

Franken is a comedian who does politics. Coulter does not have that excuse.

As to Franken and fact checks, his detractors would have torn his books to pieces if there were no substance to what he writes about. But even a conservative like Michael Medved has admited that Franken's books are accurate even though he disagrees with Franken's views.

So if one makes outrageous stratements but somehow makes them sound funny, that makes it OK?

All right. I'll go for that.

    Coulter cracks me up.

Ann Coulter has nothing to do with liberal/conservative. It has to do with basic human consideration and dignity. It also has to do with a person who is so depraved that the words one uses, the feelings of others, and basic respect for your fellow man are thrown out the window just to earn a buck. Thats about as deep as she gets.

Are you saying he does not check facts? What evidence do you have? Surely you can find many, many examples as we have for Coulter.

    He's more than a comedian, he's a political satirist.

O'Reilly sued and lost. Why? Because it was factually true.
