Would a deacon sit under the preaching of someone who is caught in sin?

    Welcome to the forums!

Deacons sin!, preachers sin, teachers sin.

There is a way to approach those that sin.
Elders are to be approached with respect.

I'd hope the preacher would be receptive and respond appropriately to a charge of sin.

Some great preachers have fallen, repented, and been restored.
They've gained wisdom (and a large portion of humility) the hard way.

    An article yesterday:

Pastor John Piper says people leaving their church are 'walking away from Jesus'

[Norm Funk] "Pastor John, what would you say to this? 'I’m not walking away from Jesus, but I am done with the church. I can’t trust the leadership. I held a certain leader in high esteem. So I am not going to walk away from Jesus, but I am done with the organized aspect of church life.'"

[John Piper] "If you do that, you are walking away from Jesus."

Hopefully, the deacon uses Gal 6:1.

But I think your question is, should a pastor caught in sin continue being a pastor?

What is the sin? Is the pastor repentant? Is there an environment of discipline, instruction and restoration to go with hopeful repentance?
