A number of years ago, I attended a continuing education seminar at Princeton. Off the parlor of the continuing education center, there was a group of people gathered around tables in another room, the doors to which were glass, so that one could see who was there and what was going on. It was Bruce Metzger and part of the NRSV translation team, diligently at work. It felt like "holy ground" -- to be at the place and in the time where a new translation was being prepared. I've been partial to the NRSV ever since!

Another soul has departed this life of pain and misery and has entered the haven of rest with Jesus Christ. Our loss is Bruce's gain.

It is our loss, but it is definitely his gain. Thankfully, we still have his life's work to enjoy until we meet him in heaven.

    Rob,

He was a gracious man, and unlike some professors - he was approachable and easy to talk with . . .

    He will be missed.

May Our Lord comfort his family during their time of grieving.
