Nice try. I remember how you were the one bragging about the different races you have "allowed" into your home. You even had counted & seperated them, according to race. Your side refuses to be critical of a black president, and when someone is, they are racist. You yourself have played the "racist" angle of the tea party.

Again, nice try. Tell me you aren't demanding others give more.

?? The Democrats are the ones that took the debt ceiling raise hostage! And thanks to spineless Republicans, they won!

They wanted 2.5 Trillion in debt ceiling increase with NO entitlement cuts...

    They got it.

They wanted sufficient revenue to cover the government, with Obama's radically accelerated spending, through January 2013.

    They got it.

They wanted to avoid cuts in the budget. They got it (other than a "possible" cut in the future, that can easily be eradicated later.)

They wanted tax hikes. They have assured that they will get them. The 12 person committee, according to the bill, cannot include ANYONE that voted against this bill. That means NO tea party people. It means NO Republicans who are really serious about cutting the debt, and unwilling to compromise.

The Dems got everything, and the Republicans (and the 70 percent of Americans who did NOT want the debt ceiling raised...) got nothing. I am so SICK of this!

    Some random observations.

    1. The richest 1% in this nation pay 40% of the taxes. A rather large chunk of people pay no federal taxes.

    2. The surplus myth continues.

    3. Both sides played fast and loose with this. Both sides played politics. Reid and Pelosi looked smart. Boehner looked smart, but perhaps a little less-so. Obama looked petty and failed to provide adequate leadership. There is now growing sentiment to have a progressive challenger to him in the debates, and this challenger could weaken him like it did GHWB in 1992.

    4. No one in the public is really all that upset about the debt ceiling. Why? Because Obama, despite his incredible unpopularity, would win against anyone in particular in the GOP field despite losing to a mythical GOP candidate. We haven't unseated a sitting president in almost 20 years. I don't think the public has the stomach for it right now.

    5. The "It's Bush's fault" line isn't working anymore. This economy and the deficit are now squarely on Obama's shoulders. This was inevitable, whether entirely accurate or not.

    6. This debt celing "crisis" will be long forgotten next year when Americans are watching their party's convention on tv (snicker, snicker) and when they are thinking (snicker, snicker) about whom to vote for.

    7. House Republicans are going to have to throw the Tea Party a bone and try to come out and do something to help the public think more of them. Good luck with doing both at the same time.

No it won't but regardless we cannot continue to spend. Even Puttin has recognized our over spending.

They already pay their fair share

    Scaremongering

False, the way to do that is to get the economy moving.

    uh baloney

Where do you get this stuff?

What color is the sky in your world? Really!

Very Little to Celebrate in DC

This post hit it out of the park as there is very little, to nothing being done in DC that warrants our celebration.

Things need to change drastically, and the sooner the better. Than we can celebrate.

No, there will be cuts in the future. The likely scenario is that the committee's spending cuts recommendations won't pass Congress. This gives the White House the task of making across the board cuts in spending equal to the raising of the debt ceiling. This is where Obama cuts all the favorite Rep. government spending programs, i.e. military.

The Dems got the debt ceiling raised, a victory for them.
The Reps got the promise of spending cuts in the future, a potential victory.
The Dems have the potential to define the spending cuts (if the committee's recommendations are voted down) a HUGE victory for them.

I'm curious to see how they define spending cuts. Because if it is scaling back on planned future outlays, that's not really a cut, IMO.

    Yep. We got snookered again.

I disagree with this. First of all, everyone I know is livid about this whole mess. Second, I think several people could beat Obama.

They're livid, but not about the debt. Sure, they'll say they are. But then ask them: would you give up OASDI? Medicare? Unemployment compensation? Even if they answer yes, people can't "unspeak" how they vote.

Second, several people may be able to beat Obama. But no one yet is beating him in the polls. Mystifying when you consider how weak his approvals are.

For now. Will they remember this in Nov 2012? I doubt it. History seems to show that voters have very short memories.

People are ticked off about the debt ceiling....so much so that they're peeved that the govt won't be able to pay their OASDI, Medicare Part D....

I am sure those on the left are mad for that reason. Obama and company have worked pretty hard at scaring everyone. But the independents and the right are worried we will be the next Greece.

I meet supposed "independents and the right" every day who are adamant about their OASDI, Medicare, etc. George Bush couldn't get OASDI reform done. OASDI is too big of a political issue for both parties.

I don't think we'll be Greece....we'll be more like Central Falls, RI. See:
