    EXCERPT

Nancy Pelosi Yields to Black Caucus on William Jefferson

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has dropped her demand that Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., resign from the powerful House Way & Means Committee - in exchange for a promise from the Congressional Black Caucus that they won't campaign against her in advance of this fall's critical mid-term elections.

According to a Roll Call report this week, Pelosi struck a deal with the Black Caucus in a closed door meeting last Friday to "hold off taking any pre-indictment action against Jefferson" as long as the group refrains from attacking her.

Pelosi had ordered Jefferson to step down last week after he was caught hiding $90,000 in alleged bribe money in his freezer, saying his resignation would be "in the interest of upholding the high ethical standard of the House Democratic Caucus."

Looks like the GOP isn't the only organization that's been taken by corruption. Vote against all the incumbents.

Pelosi is really the bottom of the barrel.

If I was a bettin' man, I'd bet she's out in 2006 if democrats take control of the House.

Let's see here - she didn't take any bribes, she didn't conspire with lobbyist to break campaign laws, she didn't except money from criminal fundraisers, she didn't leak classified information, she didn't plant fake journalists in her news conferences, she didn't use taxpayer dollars to illegally promote national programs she favored, she didn't drop an investigation into corruption in exchange for an opposing party member being fired and a member of her own party being hired instead, she didn't request that sanctions against Iran be eased in exchange for personal favors, she didn't commit wire fraud, she wasn't arrested for DWI, she didn't break any laws, she didn't ask that the investigation be dropped - but she is bottom of the barrel? Huh.

Here is Jefferson's reply to Pelosi's request that he resign the Ways and Means committee:
Perhaps he has a point. The Republicans seemed to think so.

Even after looking at the facts, you still put forth this garbage? Is she a "bottom feeder" because you disagree with her policies or do you have something other than your own preferences to prove your point.

Seems like anyone who disagrees with your own viewpoints, especially if they are democrats qualifies as a "bottom feeder."

Doesn't make sense. Would Pelosi be afraid of such a move? Does she really believe she's that vulnerable in her district? This story doesn't seem to add up.

Jefferson may be guilty. From all reports, the evidence leans that way. Nevertheless, the same standard should be applied to all. If others were not made to step down whan accused, then he shouldn't either.

The fact that he's black and a democrat should make no difference.

Of course, in real life, it does, to many people, but that isn't the point.

I never said that I was better than Carpro.

Concerning the comment about being an idiot. Since you are unable to carry on a private conversation I will answer you publicly. I do think that anyone, including your sacred brother, is sorely deceived when he chooses to deliberately go to Iraq and continue to support an unjust invasion of a sovereign country.

I know that a soldier is under orders to go where he is sent. However, to reenlist in order to continue that failed mission is ludicrous, in my opinion. I assume he is a grown man and is free to do as he pleases, I just think that, if you really cared about him like you say, you would attempt to show him the error of this decision.

The sad thing is that in five or ten years all the sacrifices these brave and misguided people have given will probably be forgotten just like those who gave their lives in Viet Nam. Remember that these brave soldiers gave their lives to keep Viet Nam from becoming a communist country. We see how well that worked out.

BTW, you mentioned that you Googled my name in order to find my phone number. Then when I called your house to give you what you were seeking you complained publicly about this. I assumed you wanted my number because you wanted to say something to me. I, therefore called you. I did not leave a message; I just let the caller ID leave my number. But, since you did not call I must also assume that you either was afraid to call or just wanted to publicly imply that I was somehow stalking you. Believe me, if I wanted to say something untoward to you I would have called until you answered and then I would have told you what I had to say. I did not do this because this was not my intention.

I never complained about you calling me. I never complained about you finding my number. I complained about you sending an unsolicited, unChristian PM calling him an idiot. You have no defense for this, so don't try. You don't agree with him re-enlisting, so he's an idiot. Precisely what you accuse Carpro of doing.

We have a wall for the Vietnam vets. Only short-sighted people forgot about those vets. I haven't.

I remember the vets as well, but many don't seem to remember the traitorous politicians and self styled anti war advocates that are responsible for untold thousands of those lives.

That same type of group is currently working to see that the lives spent in Iraq are wasted, using the same tactics that worked for them in the Vietnam era.

Some of them are even the same people.

I have not forgotten; I have friends who's names are on that wall also. It just saddens me to see anyone die in combat, especially when they seemed to have died in vain.

Of course they are. They intimidated one administration, and they think they can do it here. Patting themselves on the back for stopping a war, and shrugging their shoulders at the uncountable deaths directly attributed to our pulling out.

Now they send mail to family members of service men, calling them idiots, reminding them of the possibility of coming home in a body bag, and then claim to be bothered when they actually do die.

    Back to Pelosi......

Just because I don't agree with very much of what you say does not mean that I have not lost friends and family members in past wars. It does not mean that I don't see the need for a strong military. The biggest problem I have with the military is their current Commander-in-Chief.

To farther set the record straight, I apologize for using the word "idiot" when referring to your brother (and to Carpro). It was insensitive and wrong for me to do so. I could have stated my opposition to the war in Iraq without using such inflammatory words. I hope that your brother is careful and that no harm comes to him as he goes back to this war. I appreciate his service, as well as yours, to our country. I just wish that we were not involved in this war and that none of our military personal would have died or will continue to die because of it. Hopefully we will be able to withdraw our troops as soon as possible.

And I hope we finish the job.

Apology accepted. You'll never hear another word about this.
