Senate Panel Approves Geithner for Treasury Post

    Thursday, January 22, 2009
    By Martin Crutsinger, Associated Press

Washington (AP) - The Senate Finance Committee has cleared the nomination of Timothy Geithner as treasury secretary despite unhappiness over his mistakes in paying his taxes.

The committee approved the nomination on an 18-5 vote, sending it to the full Senate. President Barack Obama is hoping for quick approval so that the point man for the administration's economic rescue effort can begin work.

This is good news! I doubt President Obama will have much difficulty getting most of his picks confirmed.

To accuse one of cheating requires establishing his/her intent to do so.

He's a tax cheat. Or a complete idiot.

The proof is in. Sorry you missed it.

He's a 5-digit tax cheat. It'll work well with the education secretary who's overseen the worst performing public schools in America, a Sec of State that has conflicts of interest unlike any other, and a socialist in charge of the environment.

If you are going 50 mph in a 30mph and just happen to not see the signs, you are still speeding. If the guy wasn't paying attention to what he was doing when he filed his taxes, it's still cheating.

So should we put Dick Cheney in jail for attempted murder for shooting his friend? Was he not paying attention?

He made mistakes on his taxes. After they were discovered, he paid the taxes he owed.

No...we shouldn't put him in jail. I never said we should put Geithner in jail. Was it attempted murder when Cheney shot his friend? Sure. Was it a mistake? Sure. Should he be held accountable for that? Absolutely! I wouldn't trust Cheney with a gun in the future, he hasn't shown he can handle one well. I also won't trust Geithner with money. He hasn't shown he can handle it well.

No..I actually hold them all to the same set of rules. I've never said I was a republican. I actually think that most of the politcians on both sides of the aisle are crooked and not worth too much.

    That is precisely the point.

Obama wants to put a tax cheat in charge of the federal treasury. Makes a lot of sense to liberals and democrats.:tonofbricks:

I am sure his taxes caught everyone by surprise. Then of course they could never admit they were wrong.

I wrote both of my senators to reject this creep. Either he is a dishonest crook or completely careless both of which disqualifies him. He knew this money was owed and didnt pay up until he was appointed by obama.

Another democrat five digit tax cheat, Charlie Rangel, is still chairman of the powerful tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee.

Democrats do love and protect their crooks.

What's really amazing is how often they keep or attempt to place their crooks in positions of power directly related to their criminal acts.

The Treasury Secretary-designee is not a crook, carpro, unless you know where a court has found him guilty of something.

Of course, some right-wingers have made hyperbole into an art form.

    Your blindness is astounding.

If you were a five digit tax cheat, you'd be a crook. Same with me.

Not at all, Bro. Curtis. I am enough respect for the justice process in this country to not say such a thing.
