The Washington Post is now reporting that the CIA has concluded something widely suspected but never flatly stated by the intelligence community: That Russia moved deliberately to help elect Donald Trump as president of the United States -- not just to undermine the U.S. political process more generally.

The Post's report cites officials who say they have identified individuals connected to the Russian government who gave WikiLeaks emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee and top Hillary Clinton aide John Podesta. One official described the conclusion that this was intended to help Trump as "the consensus view."

And here is Trump transition team's response:

“These are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. The election ended a long time ago in one of the biggest Electoral College victories in history.

    HA HA HA HA!!! Pathetic.

    1. The CIA of 2016 are not the same people as the CIA of 2002.

    2. The election didn't end a long time ago. It was 30 days ago.

    3. The electoral college victory margin was not one of the largest in history, it was the 46th largest.

So their response is to issue a statement composed entirely of lies.

You seem to have overlooked the inconvenient fact that had Hillary, her staffers, and the DNC behaved themselves and not put highly damaging things in emails it wouldn't have mattered who leaked them. I like that word you used: pathetic. Yes, blame shifting while ignoring the only cogent facts is pathetic.

Non sequitur. OP is about lack of proof that Russia was behind the DNC email leaks, not whether or not they leaked. It is being reported that the CIA concluded the Russians were responsible. I'm not blame shifting, I'm clarifying the OP.

I don't much care who obtained them or who released them. It was a breath of fresh air to get a glimpse inside the Clinton campaign and see just how corrupt they are.

Agreed. That's what I was expressing when I posted my one word response--"And?"

But then a couple hours later the story broke that the CIA thinks Russia was behind it so I posted it.

And now we know there is a very high probability that Russia hacked the GOP committee and simply sat on the data as they wanted Trump, their friend, to win. You Trump supporters have been had big time. Hustled by the hustler and played by the Russians.

Seems some will create and/or jump on any band wagon to attempt to invalidate the election victory by Trump.

Let's see: IT WAS FOX NEWS fault being on TV in every bar and restaurant in chunks of America!
Oh wait IT WAS JAMES COMEY's fault!
Oh wait, wait, it was BAD VOTING MACHINES fault!
Oh wait, wait, wait, IT WAS THE RUSSIANS fault!

Ya right, keep throwing the garbage on the wall until something sticks.

Slimey ol Julian Assange denies that any nation state was involved in the Podesta hacks.

    For whatever that's worth.

The liberal progressive attempt after attempt to discredit the election is so obvious, yet they are blind to their obvious desperation which they prove every time they offer another reason for their failure.

If democrats were not so corrupt, they wouldn't have had to worry about other people reading their emails.

Even so, the CIA has not said that Russia helped Trump get elected. If they have someone should show us the quote and who said it.

Otherwise it's just another example of the corruption of the left.

So let me see if I'm following this argument...

Anonymous, damaging leaks about Hillary Clinton and her campaign staff, no matter where they came from, are trustworthy and considered the truth. But anonymous CIA leaks to the Washington Post are not to be believed. Got it.

Rereading this and it suddenly jumped out at me--there's no denial of the charges, just misdirection.

No on needs anonymous leaks about Hillary.

The documented factual ones are abundant enough.

Could say the same thing about Trump.

    1. He doesn't take intelligence briefings from the CIA. (Gee, I wonder why?)

    2. When accused of being Putin's puppet during a debate he interrupted Clinton, yelling. "You're the Puppet! You're the Puppet!", but no denial.

    3. At his last press conference, way back in July (hasn't had one since) he called on Russia to hack Hillary Clinton.

Note: Not China, not some 400 lb. kid sitting on his bed, but Russia.

    4. He's often talked of his admiration for Putin.

    5. The one AND ONLY change that Trump made to the Republican party platform was to delete a provision calling for the US to provide arms to Ukraine in order to fight Russia.

    6. Paul Manafort, a consultant for Putin's allies in Ukraine and Trump's former campaign director, had to resign after stories circulated regarding his business dealings with Russia.

    7. Trump's national security advisor, Gen. Flynn, has written for Russia Today, a publication that is an extension of the Kremlin.

    8. Rex Tillerson, leading contender for Secretary of State, has close ties with Russia, was even awarded the country’s Order of Friendship decoration.

Like I said, give him a chance, he's not even president yet.
If he doesn't live up to most of his promises (at least try to fulfill them!) I'll be right there with you and he won't get my support ever again.

    "Fool me once...".

Will he fail at a few things? of course.
