KJV-only author Len Smith wrote: “Be careful if you go buy a King James Version. The publishers will deceitfully call some of them Authorized Versions without letting you know they’ve changed some of the words, some of the spelling, and some of the capitalization” (Age of Reason, D22, p. 9). Len Smith even asserted: “If the old spelling of throughly has been modernized to thoroughly it’s because some fool dared to go through the word of God and mess with it” (Ibid.).

According to a consistent application of this KJV-only author's faulty reasoning, did Benjamin Blayney deceitfully mess with the word of God?

Benjamin Blayney inconsistently changed some of the words, some of the spelling, and some of the capitalization in earlier editions of the KJV.

There was a KJV-only web site that took the very extreme position of claiming that some present-day KJV editions were “counterfeit” that printed “to day” as one word “today” or “to-day,” that printed “twoedged” as “two-edged” or “two edged.” and that updated the spelling of a few words.

Was the 1769 Oxford edition of the KJV and even the 1611 edition of the KJV "counterfeit" according to a consistent application of the faulty reasoning at a KJV-only web site?

Perhaps because of lack of knowledge and because of KJV-only misinformation along with faulty reasoning including use of unscriptural, unrighteous divers measures [double standards], KJV-only advocates will make claims and assertions concerning the KJV that are inaccurate and that cannot be applied consistenly using just measures.

Is a believer in God and in the Scriptures who stands for the truth and who attempts to present accurate, true information supposedly a problem for those who may seek to use fallacies, divers measures, and unproven accusations perhaps to excuse, to cover for, or possibly to promote KJV-only opinions?

Is acceptance of the truth of what the Scriptures teach and a consistent stand for that truth objectively and properly or subjectively and improperly accused of being an "obsession"?

Actually, quite thorough RESEARCH, something not done by most KJVOs. Betcha can't disprove anything Logos said. And what's wrong with seeking to have God's word as accurately as possible?

This Len Smith's work reminds me of that infamous Nic Kizziah article about "counterfeit KJVs".

I think Blayney perfected perfection. The 1611 edition was already perfect --he just made it even more perfect in the 18th century. Doncha' know there was a chain of perfection extending from the KJV revisersedition up through Paris and Blayney?

The spelling of many words was not standardized in 1611. Many words were often spelled many different ways. This does not reflect error.

Even today there are some differences that remain. The English spell "colour" while we use "color".

If you ask me, this shows how perfect the King James Bible is. If you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find differences in spelling over hundreds of years when English wasn't standardized yet, you are hurting big time.

It was not claimed that spelling was standardized in 1611.
By the way, some spelling differences in 1611 later became different English words with different meanings.

This thread deals with the 1769 Oxford edition and incorrect KJV-only claims concerning it. Several KJV-only authors have claimed that spelling in the KJV was standardized in 1769 when it was not. Some KJV-only advocates have claimed that the 1769 Oxford edition was the final KJV edition and was perfect.

It is faulty KJV-only reasoning that has made an issue of spelling.
Some KJV-only advocates have asserted that some or even many present KJV editions are "counterfeit" or are impure because of spelling differences or even just differences in whether words are hyphened, compounded, or divided.

It has been proven that there were errors in the 1611 edition of the KJV, and it can be proven that there were errors in the 1769 Oxford edition of the KJV.

Perhaps the larger point in response should be, is it a good stewardship of my time rigorously research to either approve or disprove what the OP posted?

Unless I'm missing something its not. And I'd bet the OP is just a cut and paste job which I am loathe to reply to.

IF a team of scholars were to use exactly same sources used by Kjv team in translating... Would producing a Bible with totally modern vocabulary meet criteria for a "kjv?"

Are you actually implying that you consider the truth about editions of the KJV supposedly scraping the bottom of the barrel?
