Did God promise providential preservation of His Holy Scriptures in the form of the King James Translation of the Bible? No, He did not. Here are the actually promises (Compliments of The Dean Burgon Society):

( Psalms 12:6-7 ) "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. {7} Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." ( Isaiah 59:21 ) "As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever." ( Deuteronomy 29:29 ) "The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law." ( Matthew 24:35 ) "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." ( Matthew 5:18 ) "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

Amen brother Craigbythesea -- Preach it! [IMG]

I believe the Bible is the
    inerrant written words of God.
It is nonsense for me to
    believe that my understanding
of all the Bible is inerrant.

You believe your Bible is the
    inerrant written words of GOd.
It is nonsense for me to
    believe that your understanding of
    all the Bible is inerrant.

Surely i have respect enough for my
Sibling in Christ that i will allow you your
opinion. If further you believe your
opinion, i will allow that also.
But i will receive the same consideration
    for my opinion/belief.
I am speaking of my opinion of what the Bible
said versus your opinion of what the Bible said.
What the Bible said is true, what
the Bible means is your opinion or
    is my opinion.
Pleae don't get your opinion of what the Bible meant
get confused with what the Bible said.

The Dean Burgon Society adds thoughts to those words, same as they add to what Dean Burgon himself wrote-or, they conveniently ignore both Scriptures with contrary evidence to the society's thoughts, or the writings of Burgon himself that clash with the society's policies.

Would Dean Burgon have joined that society named after him?

The "Dean Burgon Society" is actually a KJVO society attempting to gain some respectability by adopting the name of a respected scholar who's no longer here to express his opinion, which would almost certainly have been against it. Thanx, Craig, for posting the Scriptures they cite and to which they add their thoughts.

Do any of you know which KJV is being quoted here by The Dean Burgon Society? I copied the verses right off of their site using their exact wording and spelling.

Craig - Which revision of the AV1611 is of what consequence? It is simply not the same as the AV1611.

And what is different is not the same.

I think everyone of those verses have been discussed on other threads (do a "search"). Psalm 12 has nothing to do with the Bible being preserved, but that is so obvious it is attacked only by extreme KJVO.

The greater questions that continue to be unanswered are:

Did God promise to wait until 1611 to preserve His Holy Scripture?

Did God promise the AV1611 to be that perfect vehicle of preservation?

Did what was the perfect and preserved Holy Scripture BEFORE 1611 continue to be the perfect and preserved Holy Scripture AFTER 1611?

Do only the English-reading people have the perfect Word of God?

Is the KJV1769 (the one I use) the same as the AV1611?

Chapter and verse (feel free to use the AV1611)

If you read it as it stands, God promised preseversation of his words, not scriptures. Scripture is God's word, but God's word is not scripture.

imrah (translated in Ps 12:6 as "word), means "what which is spoken".
