Proof? </font>[/QUOTE]So what do you believe that this verse is talking about? If you say Jesus, then you obviously believe in prophets, those who speak in tongues and those that have a word of knowledge from God, so what say ye?

Let’s get away from the KJVO spin please. History proves that the KJV was not the only English bible. KJVOist don't have any facts or scripture to support their myths therefore they have no foundation.

We should be thankful that God has preserved His Word for every generation. He did not start and stop in 1611-1769.

I simply don't see where God says that I am entitled to His complete Word in the form of a bible. By His grace He has made ways for us to have His Word; therefore I am thankful that He does not keep His Word in one language from one time period. If that was the case then you can bet your life we would all be reading from a Latin bible.

Do we have His complete Word? Yes.

Did God promise that I would have a complete bible? No.

Has a way been made for me to own a complete bible? Yes.

Do I have a complete bible? Yes several translations.

Did God preserve His Word? Yes, refer to the thousands of manuscripts from different ages.

    You get my point?

The people of Europe have been blessed because they have had many fine translations of the Scriptures. We are blessed in America in that we have many fine translations of the scriptures.

I am thankful that I don't need to go to a church etc... just to be able to hear the Word. The Geneva Bible, 1611 KJV, 1769KJV, 1873 KJV, NASB(1995) and the KJ21 in my study are the complete and perfect Word of the Most High that He has preserved down through the ages.

Basically all I'm saying is that we should be thankful for the bibles the we read everyday no matter if it's a KJV, NKJV, KJ21, TMB, NASB, NIV, Geneva, etc... Let us not take the blessings that God has given us and overlook it!

We could be like the Christians in Muslim nations who hide and study the Word of the Most High given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. These Christians would be happy with just the gospels let alone a bible that is already put together containing the OT and NT. Let's stop for a minute and thank the Lord for what we have!

Sorry for the Sunday school lesson but I got in a bit of a praise mode!

DeaconLew said "The only way to preach the Gospel is for someone at some point to have read it. Remember Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of mouth, right? No! By the word of God. Where is it?"

How did the Apostles preach the gospel before the NT was written? How were people saved before the NT was written?

DeaconLew said "We have that which is perfect in the KJV."

Where was the perfect preserved word of God prior to that, since the KJV differs from even the texts it was translated from?

DeaconLew said "What whole scripture will you use to let me know if the God-head is a trinity?"

Passages that speak of the deity of the Father, the deith of Jesus, and the deity of the Holy Spirit, combined with verses that show the distinctions between the three, combined with passages that say there is only one God.

DeaconLew said "If God can translate a sinful man 100%, can't he translate the bible that redeems sinful man 100%?"

Sure. But how could you know he did so in any particular translation of the Bible? How do you know he didn't do so in another version?

DeaconLew said "The manuscript evidence that you are referring to (probably Westscott and Horte) were the works of infidels and God haters."

False witness. Westcott and Hort were neither of these things.

DeaconLew said "If you are referring to Vaticanus (sp) or the Saniaticus (sp) they were found, in modern parlance, the dumpster."

I once found a KJV in a garbage can.

DeaconLew said "By the way, Zondervan does publish a KJV bible. BUT they do not own the copyright."

Zondervan does not own the copyright on the NIV either. It is owned by International Bible Society.

DeaconLew said "The word of God is not bound. Those that wish to use the NIV et al must get permission for doing so from folks that hate God and his word."

First, the KJV is "bound" in England and one needs permission of the Crown to publish it in England. Second, many other Bibles are without copyright, such as the ASV, Westcott and Hort's NT, etc. Copyright or lack of copyright is basically irrelevant in identifying "the word of God" - a Bible is the "word of God" no matter what laws man may put on it's publication.

Don't turn the question around - what proof do you have that "that which is perfect" is the KJV?

    Better yet which KJV?

    1611?
    1613?
    1650?
    1762?
    1769?
    1873?
    1982?
    KJ21(1994?)?
    TMB (1998?)?

Why has this been turned into a KJVO hijack thread yet again?

KJVOist either present proof or be silent and address the subject of this post.

The Harmony of God's Word in the KJB; men are the only ones who try to contradict the KJB, but that is due to their lack of knowledge. :(

Though I do not have the proof that YOU require, you do not have the proof that it is not. So, this is what I believe. Now, can you answer the question,
"So what do you believe that this verse is talking about? If you say Jesus, then you obviously believe in prophets, those who speak in tongues and those that have a word of knowledge from God, so what say ye?"

    KJVOist,
The KJV did not exist before 1611 therefore your KJVOism does not apply to this thread.

    Rapture Ready,
You have no scripture to prove the KJVO myth. Stop evading the issues. Either present the scripture that says "KJV" and which "KJV" and end the bible version debate or simply address my questions head on. Your KJVO spin is amusing at best in that it shows your total lack of respect for How God preserved His Word to His saints down through the ages. Sorry but the KJV did not exist in 125 A.D, 350, 550, 1000, 1250, 1599, 1601. Unless you believe in the Ruckmanism heresy of advanced revelations your are standing in sinking sand. Sorry but that is the truth.

    Plain ol Ralph,
What about giving us a plain ol answer as to which KJV is perfect? Are you aware ther the AV1611 contradicts the 1769 is some passages? If not the I'll start another thread later.

Now address the questions that have been asked with out the same old KJVO spin.

    Thank you all,

    David

If this turns into a KJVO hijack thread then I'm asking the mods to close it before it gets too messy. It's sad when one seeks an honest answer and KJVOism rears it's ugly head time and time again.

So your contention is that every Bible before the KJV and every Bible in another language is imperfect?

Th answer your question - "that which is perfect" came about when John finished Revelation on the isle of Patmos, IMHO.

As far as "on thread" they are discussing the "complete Bible" in the OP as to when it was complete. One contention here is that the complete Bible did not come about until 1611, or 1762, 02 1769.....

DeaconLew erected a whole army of strawmen:

1.) If we do not have a complete word of God, then how can anyone know they are saved, since the only reason we know of salvation comes from the scriptures?

Because the part we do have says so. Next!

2.) If your name is Debbie would you accept it if I called you Doug? Then why is it ok for a person to mistake "oldest and best" for "orginal?" That is called lying.

    This is called incoherent. Next!

3.) Please provide me one reference in the bible where God promised to preserve the original.

No one is taking the extreme skeptical position that without the autographs we can know nothing at all about the Scriptures. Next!

4.) How many books are there in the canon of scripture? Where did that number come from?

This pseudo-Romanist argument is another appeal to skepticism. Again, its purpose is not to shed light on the translation and transmission of the Bible, but to cause doubt in the Bible we have. Next!

5.) Is the God-head a trinity? What verse (just one) do you use to prove it?

Who says we need to have just one verse? You are inventing arbitrary rules. Next!

6.) Do you believe in a Pre-Trib translation (rapture)? Can you show me where believers are before God BEFORE the tribulation? By the way, Enoch was translated that he should not see death. Do you suppose that God translated Enoch only 97% or 100%?

Equivocation, deliberately confusing two definitions of "translate" - on the one hand, to transfer between locations, and on the other, to render words from one language into another. Next!

7.) Do you believe that every scripture is given by inspiration of God? If so, kindly explain why Matthew 18:11, and Act 8:37 are missing from the versions of the bible where the publisher also publishes Playboy, Hustler and Penthouse dung!

Guilt by association. You can't argue against the translation, so you have to dig up dirt on the publisher. Also a sweeping generalization, assuming every version of the Bible is published by a company that also produces porn.

    Total score: 0.

Thank you for calling and sharing, and shall we take our next call, please?

    Your Proof:
First of all, please be aware that knowing is of the will... James 2:20 wilt thou know...

1.) The KJV is internally consistent. For example, in Prverbs 6 in the KJV it says that God hates pride. In the NIV et al it says the same (although worded differently). However when we get to Galatians 6 it says that we can take pride in our selves?!? Hmmm looks like the Devil got away with that one among the lukeware believers.
2.) The KJV is written in such a manner that even a child can understand it. It is written in a fifth grade reading level. You say, "That's not proof!" It is when your 8 year old gets saved because they understood the gospel. I mean I did not have to say "what they really meant was..." Granted during the 17th century people read more then than now. Most "Baptists" have story time with their daddy the Devil every evening around the "boob tube" being a-mused. I do not have the references to the verses that are more difficult to understand in the NIV et al than the KJV. I will get those at a later time.
3.) The KJV does not have missing verses. One may say "The oldest and most reliable manuscripts did not have them." So what! What does it do for righteousness sake to take out the verse that say Jesus came to save that which was lost? Do you think the Devil is upset that the verse is missing? Or what about 1John 5:7? The verse that PROVES that the God-Head is a trinity! Your bible has taken that verse completely out. Do you suppose all the devils in hell are grieved that the verse is no longer there for the JW to read it and repent???? Or what about baptism you know the ordinance that Jesus set up AFTER salvation? Why, in Acts 8:37 it PROVES that you have to be saved before you can be baptised. Do you really think that it bring God Almighty joy to know that someone has taken that prescious truth from his word? And after all, whos word is it? Man's or God's? If God wanted to repeat himself he has the right to do so, hear.
4.) The KJV is responsible for a revival of holiness that no other bible version can claim. If you are living a borderline Christian life you can thank the NIC for that. After all it told you to be prideful! If you find any enjoyment from the TV you can thank the NIV for that. After all in 2Timothy 2:15 it told you to do your best... Never told you exactly what you had to do, unlike the KJV which said to S-T-U-D-Y. You cuss a little bit, you can thank the Living (Dead) Version for that, where it says... you know what it says. Huh, and tell me that you are an on fire for God Baptist. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. 2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. Oops you can't do that because your bible says Search words "depart+from+iniquity"
Sorry, we found no verses matching your specifications. Try a different search type, or a different Bible version.

    The KJV is internally consistent.

    Not true!

2 Samuel 8:4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.

1 Chronicles 18:4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots.

2 Kings 24:8 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother’s name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

2 Chronicles 36:9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

2.) The KJV is written in such a manner that even a child can understand it.

    Not true!

1 Chron. 26:16-19,”To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came forth westward, with the gate Shallecheth, by the causeway of the going up, ward against ward. [17] Eastward were six Levites, northward four a day, southward four a day, and toward Asuppim two and two. [18] At Parbar westward, four at the causeway, and two at Parbar. [19] These are the divisions of the porters among the sons of Kore, and among the sons of Merari.” KJV

Ruth 4:1,” Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.” KJV

Acts 28:13,”And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:” KJV

    do you need more proof?

3.) The KJV does not have missing verses.

Not true within the KJV family!

    The apocrypha is missing.

The current KJV changes the AV1611!

4.) The KJV is responsible for a revival of holiness that no other bible version can claim.

Same old tired KJVO junk. How long was the Vulgate used?

The Reformation happened under what bible?

    Sigh.... more KJVO clueless post!

DeaconLew said "1.) The KJV is internally consistent."

According to who? This is an interpretational issue, not a translational one.

DeaconLew said "2.) The KJV is written in such a manner that even a child can understand it."

So is "Dick and Jane", but that doesn't mean it's the perfectly preserved word of God. The Geneva was also easy to read when it was translated, as were many Bibles after the KJV.

DeaconLew said "3.) The KJV does not have missing verses."

Yes it does, if you compare it to specific previous Bibles. Again, you are basing your position purely on familiarity.

DeaconLew said "4.) The KJV is responsible for a revival of holiness that no other bible version can claim."

The KJV is not responsible. People following the guidance of the Holy Spirit are responsible.
