    No joke, God determined that Jesus woul die for sinners, and God alo knew and used sinners desire to kill him off!

    What would be the reason to attribute the events in Egypt to God using the natural event of a volcano in the Mediterranean Sea?

    I was just asking could God have used tha natural event, under His Providence, or dies it require to be all supernatural occurances directly sent by Him?

    There is evidence that volcanic activity has changed the climate world-wide. This is all according to Divine Plan. The problem comes when we attribute such things to Natural Laws to the exclusion of Divine Providence. God did it or allowed it, that settles it. A lot of so-called intelligent people do not believe in Lord God--Jehovah, creator, savior. This is not a new situation. Noah preached for 120 years. Only eight found grace. God shut the door. A lot of folk have problems with this global, Divine Event as well.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

    I love a definition of "miracle" that someone told us: A miracle is a natural or unnatural occurrence that is uniquely timed to bring glory to God. :) We are studying Judges right now and in chapter 4, we meet Deborah and Barak. We see that when they went against Sisera, Sisera had 900 chariots of iron and Barak had 10,000 men. Even 10,000 men would not have a great chance against that many strong chariots but they went anyway. We see that the men began to kill all of the army of Sisera and Sisera got down from his chariot and ran away. Why not just use the chariot because that would have been so much faster? Chapter 5 explains it to us: It rained! It was not the rainy season or else Sisera would not have taken his chariots near the river but now we see that the highways were abandoned (5:6), the "heavens dropped, yes, the clouds dropped water" (5:5) and "the torrent Kishon swept them away, the ancient torrent, the torrent Kishon." Rain is not a miracle but rain during this battle at this place at this time was. :) God got the glory!

    At the end of the day (to quote a cliche) every nano second will be shown to have brought glory to God.

    Time itself is a miracle - it keeps everything from happening at once.

    That is not to deny the specialness of "miracles" as described in the scripture or as Ann has pointed out.

    My opinion of course.

    That is good, as the Lord can freely choose to either do a supernatural evnt, or else usenatural mean to accomplish His means !

    Time is God having marked off eternity for man. We have dimensions beside x,y,z an time. There are spiritual dimensions which cannot be duplicated in a laboratory. Man has split a second into at least 10 to the minus 18 --an attosecond. That is certainly more digits than my Timex would indicate. Going the other way man really gets confused. Time is the key ingredient in the evolution equation. Strange, the statistical probability of a simple, single living cell having come from dead elements is greater than 1 in 10 to the exa power--10 to the eighteenth. (Statistically impossible, yet such is taught as a fact in the hallowed halls of science education.)

    Apostle Peter gave some insight regarding time: A day is a thousand years and a thousand years is a day--in God's time. Given that equation, it has not yet been two days since Jesus was here. We are coming up on the end of the sixth day. The next day is rest--with Jesus in control.

    Are we ready?

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

    Yes, as a matter of principle and practice, God can and does use natural events to work his will.

    I was wondering, though, if you thought there was something in the text that would suggest looking for such a natural event in the Exodus from Egypt miracles. I haven't found anything that would suggest it, so it seems there is no reason to look for it unless trying to satisfy the "less miracly-inclined."

    I fully believe in God did miracles in the Exodus Event, just was asking if that was the only viewpoint acceptable!
