It was really unfair of Kerry to use his brain during the debate. He should do like Rush and tie half of it behind his back when debating Bush, just to make it fair!!!

But if John Kerry brought notes to the podium in violation of the debate rules, then he should acknowledge it and apologize publicly for breaking the rules.

It's always a shame to witness Christians degrade the leader of our country. Isn't there scripture that prohibits such behavior? It's doubly a shame considering the fact that he is not only our President, but a brother in Christ.

[whining]There's no question about it. Notes would clearly give Kerry an advantage, since he can read and write.

The debate itself is cheating, since Kerry has an advantage in being able to pronounce three-syllable words.

    It's NO FAIR!!!!!![/whining] (WFTH-I)

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN OCT 03, 2004 14:05:38 ET XXXXX

DEBATE MYSTERY: DID KERRY HAVE CHEAT SHEET?

Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

So what did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back to the auditorium's audience]?

What did Kerry place on the podium?

Video replays of the Kerry maneuver played all weekend long on the internet.

[A tight zoom analysis of the Boston.Com feed shows Kerry pulling a mysterious item his jacket [14 seconds into video, after commerical]. Kerry appears to unfold some sort of paper seconds later, at his podium.]

A top Kerry campaign source explained to the DRUDGE REPORT late Sunday how Bush supporters were once again trying to distract.

"Kerry did not cheat," said the Kerry insider. "This is more lies from Republicans, who are hoping for a quick change of subject away from the president's performance, and the new polls."

When pressed on the fact that even brandishing a pen from his jacket would have violated debate rules, the Kerry staffer laughed, adding, "See you at the inauguration, Drudge".

    Developing...

Attack his message (believe me, there is plenty there to attack). This is a non-issue and nobody really cares. Even if he did cheat, what would the remedy be?

I wonder if he pulled out a folded tissue to blot his forehead. If so, they should have quickly said so, tho.

Good point. I just taught a lesson on respect tonight in Teamkids at church. I believe some adults would do well to come and join me for the next one.

If you watch the video carefully President Bush appears to be jotting notes with a pen.

    Non issue.

On the issue of respect, I agree. However, I have a feeling that most folks in these parts did not show that respect to the last president.

What is the last US president that was shown that respect across the political spectrum?
    Bush, no.
    Clinton, no.
    Bush sr., no.
    Reagan, no.
    Carter, no.
    Ford?

Therein lies the big problem, in my opinion. It's one thing to support a president who does the things that Bush does, if you want to. It becomes hypocrisy, though, if you criticized Clinton for the same thing, and will switch principles again if Kerry wins.

    -women in combat?
    -gays in the military?
    -wild social spending?
    -expansion of government?
    -etc. etc. etc.?

It makes the Church look foolish and hypocrtitical when its members hold a double standard, based on a personality or party.

Last I heard, Clinton was a brother in Christ, and lots of Baptists critized him. It goes with the job...

    Of course at least:

    "WHEN CLINTON LIED, NOBODY DIED".

    Ford???

He was portrayed as a bumbling clown who couldn't talk and chew gum at the same time.

Even regular news programs and papers were unrelenting in their ridicule of him.

And it hardly needs to be said that a 60-plus president, who can snow ski, is not clumsy. It was his tumble down the AF 1 ramp that got him the rep, I think.

    Let me understand something...

I have never heard of any 'proper' 'targetted' debate where notes were not allowed...

Seems that any 'practiced' debater would have notes...

So, kerry being the practiced debater he is probably couldn't break the habit. :D

No, he didn't have to lie to get people killed...

There was a rather large 'body count' during the Clinton 'era'.

Besides why lie when you can merely give an order or pay someone to do it for you?

BTW: Intentional Misrepresentation of the Truth is the same as lying... kerry makes such misrepresentation regularly...

Acting on facts as known at the time is **NOT** lying...
