So I'm now back to Judas not trusting. No faith. Faith is a gift.

I still have a problem with him participating in the miracles, if he didn't possess the faith he was telling others to have.

John the Baptist filled with the Spirit from his mother's womb, David made to hope while on his mother's breast, Isaac born after the Spirit by the time of his weaning, Paul separated from his mother's womb to preach Christ among the Gentiles.

You have a 'hard time' with any of the above?

They were called to serve, not for simply salvation, which I believe is the central argument non-caps use ? If that's the case then it's mine. If not, it's still my argument. That there is a difference in being called for service, and being adopted into a family.

    Hello BRO.C

This highlights the need for God to regenerate a sinner before they can believe on God's terms.

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

One thing to keep in mind....Our Lord came meek and lowly. The unregenerate mistake meakness for weakness.... Judas was carnal in the heart.

remember Simon sought to buy the gift in Acts...his heart was wrong

18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

    Hello, Iconoclast.

Jesus himself gave the twelve their power. We don't know that he used it, but he isn't excluded. None of them had to buy it.

Jesus said, when told he was casting demons out by being a demon himself that this was impossible, so I don't think he called Judas a devil in the literal sense. I mean, how would this work ? He was possessed by satan before the treason, but had the Holy Spirit in him prior ? Was there never a chance ?

I know God starts the process. My question is if it can be resisted. It appears Judas isn't a good example. LOL

But this has been a good discussion.

Are these for 'our examples' or are they only 'special cases'?

28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.
29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, so also it is now. Gal 4

....But who say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in heaven. Mt 16:15-17

"…... flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in heaven."

You think this can be resisted?
