Much has been said about Blumenthal saying he was in Vietnam.

Neil Cavuto of Fox News had an interesting comment about the issue

When someone running for political office says, "I served during Vietnam", I take him to mean that he was physically overseas IN Vietnam doing the serving.

Why else would a person say that except to insinuate that he was actually there? If it were anything else, the average person on the street would have specified. He would have said, "I served stateside during Vietnam", or whatever the case may be.

I call that person a liar. What else are you supposed to call him?

No one is going to make a big deal out of this because no one gives a crap about the truth anymore.

Truth is officially subjective, situational, and lies are acceptable when marketable, profitable, and come from the mouths of golden boys.

Commandment #9 is dead and buried.

I have never cared for Blumenthal and wish he would drop out of the race, but everyone here knows he won't. Amazingly, many veterans have written letters in local newspapers supporting Blumenthal, but I personally know a few Vietnam vets who are very upset with him.

Blumenthal has been bad for Connecticut for years, he will sue anybody to make a name for himself. In 2007 the Competitive Enterprise Institute voted him worst Attorney General in the United States.

Blumenthal is not nearly as popular in his own state as the media portrays him. His poll ratings have plunged drastically in the last few days, even losing much support among Democrats.

Please stay on topic with the OP
I am not concerned about other political isuses. If you want to go into that area, please start your own thread.

The OP is: about Blumenthal saying he was in Vietnam.

Please, lets stick to the subject.

If he is elected, he can take his rightful place alongside other democrats who have lied about their service and/or turned traitor

I believe it was a willful attempt to mislead and inflate his own service record. Stupid!

There are lots of liars about their service in Viet Nam. You'd be amazed at the guys who will tell me they were there but when asked where and their MOS, they stumble and stutter.

Seems pretty silly in this very connected world to make up a story.

The issue is not lying in general but about their service. But then you already knew that.
