Did the early Church fathers expect a Literally Second Coming of jesus?

    Or did they see it already fulfilled/happened, per the Apostles teachings?

    I found this interesting piece written by Ignatius of Antioch a second century Church Father taught by Polycarp of Smyrna, who in turn was taught by the Apostle John.

    In it he clearly believes that the second coming of Christ will be literal!
