    As a calvinistic dispensationalist, I believe that salvation is by grace through faith in every dispensation. I think to teach any other salvation is heresy. The content of saving faith has differed in the various dispensations but the object of faith was always God. Some do teach a faith+works salvation in the OT era but I vehemently disagree with that. It has no basis in Scripture.

    I have heard that Dispensationalism has gone through three phases:

    1) Classical Dispensationalism - such as taught by Darby.

    2) Revised Dispensationalism - as taught by Scofield.

    3) Progressive Dispensationalism - within the past 15 years or so, that on the surface sounds a lot like Historic Premillenialism.

    Would this be correct?

    No.

    It would be more like the following:

    Classic - Darby, Scofield, Ryrie, Chafer

    Revised - MacArthur, Pentecost

    Progressive - Blaising, Bock

    Progressive filters out some of the wrong arguments of classic but also presents quite a few new ones. Revised is the way to go.
