Just wondering what you do (if anything) for your congregation for Christmas. Do you give cards or gifts? Our church is small, so we give out Christmas cards and I make small handmade gifts for each family.

When I get all the ingredients together, I'm going to make Christmas jam and give that out. I do that for all of our friends/co-workers at the home church and then I'll give that to each family at our new church. :)

For years now, I have visited the shut-ins in a senior's home on Christmas Day. I read scripture and pray with them, and have a personal communion set,,,,remember, these folk are shut-ins and neglected even by family,,,,so I break the general rules on communion..

This Christmas Day, wife will be driving a wife to visit her husband in a nursing home. His wife thinks this may be his last Christmas, and she can't drive that day.

There are many ways to serve the Lord,,,,and the people.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I send a personalized Christmas card to members of the congregation and I try to include a personal note with a lot of them. It takes a lot of time but many express appreciation for this gesture.

My wife & I do something different each Christmas. This year we are baking two different type of small loaves of bread for every member family at our church with a personalized card attached. This is our first Christmas with this particular church and they know nothing about it yet.

Mike, I'm sure the bread will be appreciated. Last year we made bread and tied pretty ribbon around each loaf. The members were thrilled. This year I've made crochet dish rags for each family. One lady in our church made homemade hot cocoa mix, one jar for each family. That was a great gift idea.

We're giving out a family picture, that's all.

We make a big deal about thanksgiving instead, being the month after Pastor Appreciation Month. After they appreciate us, we appreciate them and give them some kind of homemade goodie. This year, homemade peanut brittle. Last year, peanut butter fudge and chocolate dipped pretzels. With as much stuff as they do for us doing Pastor Appreciation Month, we think this is a good way to thank them as well.

I wanted to do cards for our church folks, but I am sure I would innocently forget someone who would make a big deal out of not getting a card. So I just smile and tell everyone Merry Christmas.
