With the polarization of this country greater than at any time in the last hundred years, or so, do you think we are close to civil war, or revolution?

And which side would you be on if it broke out tomorrow?

There will be riots and unrest only when the takers of the left start losing what they have taken.

    Like Greece.

It will be awhile, but it will happen. The fiscal path we are on can only lead one place. Bankruptcy.

I think if anything like that broke out it would be put down in a hurry and with little or no mercy. From Kent State to Waco , to Ruby Ridge, the powers that be wouldn't tolerate insurrection. IMHO..

Don't kid yourself. There would have been some rioting if Obama had lost the election.

It will be much worse when they lose some of their handouts instead of their just main source for handouts.

The system will be overwhelmed come the dollar collapse it won't just be a matter of putting an insurrection down. Insurrection implies coordinated effort with centralized control and that may happen after a while but chaos and anarchy will be the first to appear.

Look at NYC after Sandy Or New Orleans after Katrina. The system was overwhelmed in both cases and in NYC it's still trying to catch up. Look at Detroit Michigan. The police have put up signs "Welcome to Detroit enter at your own risk".

It's not going to be good guys vs bad guys. It's going be your neighbor hacking you to pieces with a shovel to take your food and water.

    I'll be on my side.

The OP has a rather intriguing question...however, I don't think people care that much and we have, as a people, socially evolved beyond calling up the militia to handle our political disagreemts..

Besides, that kind of campaign simply isn't Christian.

More likely someone will start WW3 if the world economy continues to crash.

Didn't mark the poll because my answer wasn't there. I don't "fear" it but believe another revolution is coming to America. Eventually the socialist takeover of our nation will lead to a national civil unrest - healthcare shortage, prescription drug shortage, food shortage, gasoline shortage, electricity shortage, more unemployment, more homelessness - disease, famine, pestilence, destruction, riots in the streets and neighborhoods. The socialists know this and they are preparing. That's why all of the Executive Orders have been beefed up and powers expanded under obama and why Homeland Security has gone on a buying spree of weapons. That's why we will have 30,000 drones patrolling the skies over America. When the economy collapses, the free stuff runs out. Just look at the poor people in NYC who have been left to fend for themselves after the hurricane, without even a visit from FEMA or the Red Cross all of these days later, no electricity, no home, no heat, no food, no water, no clothes, no police protection (looting run amuck) STILL - even after they were promised help by obama right before the election (15 minute phone calls).

All of these things previously mentioned - yes, ALL of this has been done by evil design and the electorate is too stupid to know it. They voted for it. Sad. :tear:

Agreed. I don't fear it. I expect. God's in control.

Keep in mind people in 15 states have filed paperwork to secede. That is the start of the process. They still need to gather signatures and work through the hoops. Don't underestimate how angry people are and what they are willing to do. I don't see the US allowing these states to leave the Union without a fight, bloody or otherwise.

That said, there is a very real possibility of a global conflict. People get dangerous when they are desperate and the coming financial collapse will turn people desperate in a hurry.

BTW, there is irony in all this.

The last time there a push from states to maintain their rights it led to war. One result was the freeing of slaves, though the President was white. Lincoln also worked hard for unity. Now we have a black president that is possibly the most divisive man to sit the Whitehouse, and he works hard at it. Plus, they are both from Illinois.

No, not at all. There was no revolution or a real threat of one during the Great Depression or during the social turmoil of the 1960s. At the very worst there might be a few nasty riots by leftists and one or two attacks (more on the order of the Atlanta Olympic bombings then anything like OKC) by far right-wing survivalists nuts but that'd be pretty much it.

The people are very much different today than they were during the Great Depression. The sense of entitlement being bred into society makes this a much more dangerous situation. Keep an eye on Greece for an idea of what awaits us.

Life in Athens is often punctuated by demonstrations big and small, sometimes on a daily basis. Rows of shuttered shops stand between the restaurants that have managed to stay open. Vigilantes roam inner city neighborhoods, vowing to "clean up" what they claim the demoralized police have failed to do. Right-wing extremists beat migrants, anarchists beat the right-wing thugs and desperate local residents quietly cheer one side or the other as society grows increasingly polarized.

"Our society is on a razor's edge," Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias said recently, after striking shipyard workers broke into the grounds of the Defense Ministry. "If we can't contain ourselves, if we can't maintain our social cohesion, if we can't continue to act within the rules ... I fear we will end up being a jungle."

    >Eventually the socialist takeover of our nation will lead to a national civil unrest -

Isn't it time to grow up and stop living in the 20th century? Socialism as an ECONOMIC force is a dead issue. Why? Because socialists don't own anything. The international corporations and the people who control them own the world.

YOUR "one world government" is a delusion produced by your false eschatology. The new world government is a hegenomy, not a one man dictatorship.

I do think some type of Revolution is coming, however, I do not believe it is between liberals who will not work that get free handouts, and those who make a living. I believe it will be between those who support the status quo and those who believe we should be run by the Constitution. No one is going to risk their lives over the differences between today's Democrats and Republicans. It will be people who are patriots aliied against the likes of Obama, Reid, McConnell, Boenher, and Pelosi. It will be patriots against the make believe money we print.

I am not one that thinks it is inevitable, but if it were to happen, it would be along those lines.

Greece has a fairly decent-sized Communist Party and also a neo-Nazi Party in their legislature. And unlike the Depression there are no authoritarian demagouges on the level of say Huey Long or Father Coughlin while the existence of the said entitlement programs (even if they end up being reduced) will mean there will be less destitution.

Once again I could not answer your poll because my choice was not represented. I pretty much agree with this as the likely scenario.

BTW, I've been hearing about this so-called collapse of the dollar and bloody rioting since I was a kid (in the 1970's) I think the right-wingers should probably stop crying wolf.

It's been said for so long because the problem is not new. We have been on this slide since the Great Depression There will be an end to slide and you won't like it.

I have not read ANY economic theory with which to analyze a 100% fiat money world economy. All the gurus seem to be living in the 19th century.
