I see an imperfect world filled to overflowing with imperfect folks, and it is the imperfection of imperfect people that actually give me hope for America and the world!

There is no such thing as perfection, and to say one is perfect is a lie. I refer to 1 John 1:6-10 (KJV - I used this version to avoid criticism) where we are taught an important lesson as to our sin nature and the challenge to be honest about our actions. John writes, by these words, "If we say we are joined together with Him but live in darkness, we are telling a lie. We are not living the truth. If we live in the light as He is in the light, we share what we have in God with each other. And the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, makes our lives clean from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we lie to ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we tell Him our sins, He is faithful, and we can depend on Him to forgive us of our sins. He will make our lives clean from all sin. If we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar. And His Word is not in our hearts."

As for my response to this question, let me say that I am not as far along as I had hoped I'd be by this time in my life; nevertheless, I'm not where I was when Jesus came into my heart. And that gives me hope to endure today and all the tomorrows I have left because I can see His handiwork within my personal and spiritual life. And, yes, I'm still imperfect, but I don't feel alone, because I honestly believe that I am an imperfect soul living in an imperfect world, but the difference is (for beievers), I now have the presence of Jesus in my life, and His word to guide my every step! :jesus:

You said that you used the KJV "to avoid criticism" but your Scripture quote is from the New Life Version. Are you confused?

As for the OP --it is rather on the silly side. Who here, would say they are perfect and on what basis? Absolutely no one. So why the poll?

Rippon -- a sinner saved by the grace of God in the person of Jesus Christ.

Rippon, I'm perfect! Just ask my wife. We get along great! You see, once a week I go out with the boys and once a week she goes out with the boys.

    (Hey, you opened the door)

...my wife and I always hold hands. If I let go, she goes shopping.

I had some words with my wife and she had some paragraphs with me.

    Old ones but still humorous.

Didn't someone say that humor has been regarded as the finest perfection of poetic genius?

    ...what's a poetic genius?

It's his way of making slights towards people without having to mention any names. It's his MO.

I don't think he realizes that people notice that he does that. Say anything against his POV and you too can have a silly question and poll started just because of you.

    Not confused...

I made an error. Do you ever, EVER make errors? Probably not? Huh? So, here is you precious KJV of the text! "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."

Look Rip, if you don't like what I post, don't read it! Put me on Ignore! You are a spiritual thorn in the posteror! And frankly, you complaints and childish remarks are more silly, lame and sublime that any topic I put up!

You have proven my point, you are imperfect, and like those around you, including me, you life amongst an an imperfect people in an imperfect world!

Do you want to debate that this sin't a fact? Before you do, take a selfie, and remember your action speak a lot louder than your words!

So you did. I was just surprised. You had said to avoid criticism you were going to quote the KJV,but instead quote from the NLV. There is a big difference in the language between those two versions.
I am neither JKVO or KJVP.
Typically the expression goes :"A thorn in the side."
I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but you just complimented me. My remarks are more "sublime" than any topics you put up? According to Merriam-Webster sublime means :elevated or lofty in thought. A sense of grandeur. Thanks rd2.
    O...K....

I think this thread's topic ranks with one you launched on 10/7/2013:Is the Bible "Just another book?"

No, I meant "Posterior!" And if you need additional assistance in understanding what I said, read the information provided below!

    pos·te·ri·or noun \pä-ˈstir-ē-ər, pō-\
: the part of the body above the legs that is used for sitting
    Full Definition of POSTERIOR

: the hinder parts of the body; specifically : buttocks
See posterior defined for English-language learners »
    Examples of POSTERIOR

The man squeezed his large posterior into the chair.
<the baseball players were always slapping one another on the posterior>

The whole premise of the OP (the opening post) is absurd.

First of all, the word perfect suggests a slight defect. But the Bible presents a far more drastic appraisal. Any ole' worldling upon being asked if he considers himself a sinner will reply:"Well, I'm not perfect." The term imperfect is much too weak of a concept biblically speaking. It implies "I'm a tad off of perfection. I just need to work out a few kinks."

Why are some thread openings dealing with material in which there is no mixed opinion? I'm anticipating: Does a Christain need to born again? Or how about : Is Jesus the Only Savior?

It has to be remembered that this is a Christian forum. I think even Christians on a spiritual diet of milk would chaff at the absurdity of such questions as those posed here and there on the BB.

Rippon, it would seem to me that by the very nature of the heading of this thread, rd2 is admitting that he's not perfect. Can't you see the irony here? Saying one thing meaning another?

If practice does not make perfect does perfect practice makes perfect? Of course none of us are perfect but some might think they are. Just consider the dissension on this forum. "Me smart...you stupid" seems to be the party line.

So let me ask you. Do you consider yourself pious? Pious, in that you have a devotion to... or pious in that you consider yourself above others?

...words are so cheap, huh? :tonofbricks:

I love to look at God as the potter. How many times has he broken the pot and started over? Don't know, but like you said, I am a work in progress!

    and so did I, yesterday.
an error that my wife pointed out, which I did not notice, nor remember, and still makes me turn in my bed involuntarily every time I remember, the turn that you make when you've got a red boil somewhere in your lower backside, with an "oh, my gosh......oh, gosh...." and an appreciation of the fact that had I been in any other venue somebody might have very ungraciously pointed out to me the error right there:

I was asked to handle the services in place of our pastor who was in attendance of a Primitive Baptist Union/Annual meeting somewhere, and.............and..........
I FORGOT TO HAVE SOMEBODY SAY THE OPENING PRAYER !!!!!!!!!! Just went straight to the word.
