    Already asked, already answered.

Tell ya what - if you talk to your pastor about the orthodox view of the nature of Christ's flesh, I'll pray and think about whatever you want me to. Deal?

Yep. Try not to get too sidetracked.

A question like this makes me sag and droop. If God had a Mother, then God would not be God. His Mother would be God. She may be a God-Mother.

I hope mine will be the last word and the last post on this sagging, drooping, heretical subject. [IMG] [IMG]

Yes procyon, those are good points if anyone was saying Mary was the origin of God - but since no one is saying that, but rather simply that Jesus who is God in the flesh was birthed by Mary, I won't exactly be blown away by your comments. [IMG]

I think I still have to continue to illustrate the silly aspects of syllogism, because some people are still desperate to hold on the strawman theory, snowman theology, sugarman logic.

    1. Jesus is God,
    Mary is Mother of Jesus
Therefore Mary is Mother of God.

    2. Holy spirit is God,
    Mary is Mother of God
Therefore Mary is Mother of Holy Spirit

    3. God the Father is God
    Mary is Mother of God.
Therefore Mary is Mother of God the Father

    4. Jesus was in the womb of Mary
Holy Spirit was not away from Jesus when He was in Mary’s womb.
Therefore Holy Spirit was carried by Mary.

    5. Jesus was in the womb of Mary
God the Father was not away from Jesus when He was in Mary’s womb.
Therefore God the Father was in the womb of Mary.

    6. Therefore from the above,
Mary was the Mother of God the Father, Mother of God the Son, Mother of God the Holy Spirit.

    7. Jesus is Creator
Mary is the Mother of Jesus
Mary is the Mother of Creator of the whole Universe.

    8. We have to respect Mother.
Mary is Mother of our God.
We have to respect Mary as Mother of God.

    9. The Salvation was made possible just because Mary obeyed God.
Without Mary, there could be no Salvation possible.
Therefore we have to believe that Mary was the Co-Redeemer!

    10. Ever-Virgin Mary, Perpetual Virgin Mary, Life time virgin Mary,
So loved the world, that she gave her only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

If anyone denies any of the above mentioned Faith Statements, that person is Heretic! Anathema !

Exactly. You have not explained what is wrong with this.

    What's wrong with respecting Mary?

The rest of you things do not support your position, they only demonstrate you do not understand the orthodox position on the Trinity. Repeating them over and over won't change this fact.

You can find why the logic is wrong, if you exmine all the other numbers too. Are they right?
You use the Syllogism for your convenience and then desert it when you encounter the contradiction, which proves the belief that you have is paradox.

Mary has no more reason than Mary Magdalene, or Sarah, or Abraham, or David.
If you have so many to respect, then you will have no time to respect God, which is wanted by Satan!

No, they are not right because you have a wrong understanding of the Trinity, not because the first one is wrong.

No, it proves you don't understand. Nothing more.

    Absurd.

Eliyahu, you agreed that "mother of our Lord" was an acceptable title. Deut 6:4, Zech 14:9, Mark 12:29, Eph 4:5, and the orthodox understanding of the Trinity all say there is one Lord, not three. Replace "God" with "Lord" in your above list, and see if it changes your perspective at all.

If you can replace God with Lord, why are you not satisfied with the expression used in the Bible. Just stay with the Bible expression, Lord's mother.
If you are not satisfied with it, then it proves there is a difference between Lord and God.

Sarah called Abraham as Lord, did she call him God?
The servant of Abraham called Abraham Lord(Adonai) did he call Abraham God?

My point is that they mean the same thing, and also that using "mother of the Lord" has the same 'problem' you are attacking in "mother of God".

    What is the difference?

"lord" does not always mean "God", as obviously it can refer to others in certain contexts. However, Jesus was Lord before Mary existed and the Father is Lord, and the Holy Spirit is Lord, yet there is only one Lord when referring to God.
