Does it make a difference to you that Palin is Pentecostal?

Apparently, Palin does not call herself a Pentecostal now, but even if she did, that would not bother as far as considering her for political office.

I am much more bothered by Huckabee's words of praise for Kenneth Copeland.

Making a point. We hear plenty of complaints when threads critical of Obama become threads about McCain or Palin, but it seems acceptable to divert threads the other way.

Well apparently this thread isn't an example you can point to.

Well he did not sit and listen to a Marxist spew hatred toward whites and America for 20 years like Obama did.

Returning the discussion to Governor Palin. She apparently attended an Assembly of God church for a number of years and then moved to a non-denominational church. Governor Ashcroft [also Attorney General] was Assembly of God which is the least Pentecostal of the Pentecostal churches. I do not agree with some of the Pentecostal practices and doctrine but I believe they have the proper view of God and are not heretical. They do believe you can lose your salvation but as far as I know only Presbyterians and Baptists [other than Freewill] believe in the Perseverance of the Saints.

Governor Palin is strongly pro life [which many people on this forum are not] and has proven it by her walk. She is an excellent choice for Vice president, she is a breath of fresh air in this campaign, and has enlivened the McCain campaign. Contrast her with slick tongued BHO and motor mouth Biden. Thank God for her.

No! They believe that one who has received the second blessing [baptism of the Holy Spirit] can speak in tongues, etc.!

No. They believe in salvation through Jesus Christ as we do, and that the holy spirit is imparted at the time of coviction and confession. But they believe in a separate and repeated infilling of the Holy Spirit which is evidenced by speaking in tongues or some other signs. Pentecostals are not all of the same belief and practice, but generally most do believe in a salvation which can be lost or kept through obediance vs didobediance. A few will insist that one can't know that they are saved until they give the evidence of 'being filled with the spirit' i.e. speaking in tongues.

BTW, Palins affiliation is of less concern to me than the important issue of her trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ. A person who has a good confession will have difficulty denying their responsibility before God for their actions.... whether they believe in a salvation one can loose or not.

That's no worse than believing being dunked in water has saving power like some mainline denominations do.

I've already said Palins faith doesn't mean anything to me I was just pointing out a Pentecostal belief. I have a buddy whose a pentecostal pastor who continually tells me I'm not saved because I've never spoken in tongues. I spit come Japanese and Spanish I memorized from the Internet at him but he didn't find it funny.

What's really strange, I've preached his anniversary the last 7 years. I figure it might be too late for him but we might get some of his members saved.

Yeah It's that what said here's a link of her speaking at HER church? The only point I was making is there aren't a lot of churches in this area and A family from My SBC who are missionaries. Go there too. And they're SB.

But it should mean something to you! We should want to have qualified Christians in office who seek to follow God's will in all that they do for our nation on our behalf.

Sorry, not my qualification for President because the God I serve can use anyone to include non-believers to accomplish His Will.
