Curious, BIR, what exactly is your objection? Do you people should be unemployed and without a wage? (I am sure you don't, but don't see how you can disagree with Gingrich since that seems to be the opposite). Crime and violence always flourishes in poverty and unemployment. So it does seem that his plan would help.

    Agreed.

But saying it is a lot easier than doing it. The muslim dealers in death that are rampant in Iraq will kill everyone they can to stop it.

I think he left out one important element. Iraq, as a single nation, is non-existent. The country needs to be divided along its nationalistic boundaries, with the Kurds in the north, Sunni Arabic population in the north central area and Anbar province, and the Persian Shi'ites in the central and southern regions. The current government is fragmented and rendered ineffective by the divisions, and survives only because it lives and works inside the green zone in Baghdad. The Shi'ite region will become a fundamentalist Islamic state, but there is no avoiding that. Those who don't want to live under fundamentalist Islamic rule can live in Sunni or Kurdish territory. At least they'll have an option.

    Hey Pastor Larry,

You will notice that I said "wow." That is not an objection.
Do you realize that Newt just cited a hybrid position, drawing upon FDR and Truman? Think about that: Newt is going to take a page from FDR's playbook.

That is why I said "wow." I am absolutely amazed....

Hope all is well with you and yours, Pastor Larry,
    BiR

Ah ... I see. I thought you were objecting (not that one couldn't legitimately object). I was just curious. Sorry I misread.

Things here are fine, but my back is out tonight. Laying on the couch drugged up and miserable. Hoping it's gone before Monday travel.

Hope you are well and looking forward to a great holiday season.

Although the idea does have merit, the problem I see is that much, if not all of these goodies will probably be taken away from the people (if not by force, at least by cohesion) by their religious leaders and sold to raise money to fund their war against the U.S.

What makes you think the Sunni don't want a fundamentalist Islamic rule? The most repressive form of Islam is Sunni Whabbism which is what they have in Saudi Arabia.

(Sorry for the hijack) Did you rent a chalet, BiR? We thought about it.

    Greetings to you, LadyEagle!!

We also thought about it, but we decided to all stay at my parents' home in that Ville called Knox!! So nice to get back and spend Christmas in the Volunteer State. I spent as much time in the GSMNP as I possibly could, and the weather was warm enough to ride bikes at Cades Cove, especially Saturday. Also, there is a great bike trail that runs along the highway going through Townsend.

We will be renting one in the summer months, as well as Thanksgiving - I have a big family so we rent one of those BIG chalets.

I trust that your Christmas was as great as mine (except the LONG ride back to Richmond),
BiR (back home, safe and sound)

    Hey Pastor Larry,

I was looking for a status report on this. You were in my thoughts and prayers this weekend.

Hope you had a very Merry Christmas,

Thanks BIR. It got better on Friday (after a shot). I was good over the weekend and the flight down south. Now it has acted back up and I am in a lot of pain and can't hardly move.

    Thanks for asking and praying.

I trust your holidays were great with your family.
