According to Fox News analyst, Bill Kristol, there is concern in the McCain camp that picking Governor Pawlenty might not work out in the VP debate due to his lack of foreign policy experience vis-a-vis Senator Biden, and that this increases the chances of Senator McCain picking Senator Lieberman or Tom Ridge to be his running mate.

The other person whose stock has risen it Mitt Romney as he would help in Michigan and at least has presidential campaign experience.

There will be a whole lot of very nervous social conservatives between now and Senator McCain's announcement later this week as they may likely have to decide if they will vote for a GOP vice presidential candidate who is pro-choice or who is a Mormon(I have no problem with a Mormon candidate but I know that some Christian conservatives do).

I don't think this forces his hand at all. A Gov can tout executive experience. The McCain camp had to know this was a possibility so this factored into their vetting process. Besides, the VEEP debate is largely an evanescent memory by the time election day rolls around. 3 POTUS debates overshadow the VPOTUS debate. The last three VEEP debates have been yawners. Save for Stockdale's ramblings and Bentsen's punchline, the VEEP debates have been blips on the campaign radars.

If he did he would sacrifice a large protion of his base. But Biden is a non issue. He has no effect on anything repubs do.
