A lot of christians have something against pets. They say having a pet is idolatry.
    Is this true?

Yes in Lev 11 it says you are not allowed to "eat them".

God says that you are not supposed to be chewing on puppy and Kitty sandwiches.

I keep pointing this out on this board - and people seem to balk at this part of God's Word as if it is just wayyyy to0 limiting of their freedom now that Christ has shed His blood for the forgiveness of sins. They "suppose" he also changed this rule about puppy sandwiches while doing that. (How odd that they would think that - but they do).

Kinda funny if you ask me.

    In Christ,

    Bob

Somewhere there is a Scripture that says the animal knows the heart of its owner. That says a lot for cats and dogs. It says a lot about humans too.

I have never ever heard of anybody having this belief against pets.

Having pets is just fine, if you are nice to them.

There is nothing in the Bible that says you can't have a dog or a cat as a pet. The Israelites weren't allowed to eat them or use them as sacrifices in the Temple.

Blood pudding is just a sausage made with animal blood and meat..generally hogs or cattle in western cultures.

Okay. But is blood allowed? I would say no. Isn't this also in the bible somewhere that we must not eat blood? I think it is.

If that were true, then we would all be vegetarians. All meat contains blood. We are not drinking blood. Specifically, we are not either consuming animals nor drinkiing their blood sacrificed on altars. That is what the Bible speaks against.

Animals have been used for food from the very beginning of time.

    Cheers,

    Jim

It is in the New Testament - Acts 15- and it references the Levitcal restriction against eating blood.

I don't think they want to eat everything God forbids in Lev 11 - but they think that when God forbids eating certain animals and provides a list such as in Lev 11 - they have been unfairly treated and Christ should free them from all such restrictions so that it is now just up to man as to whether he wants to eat cats or rats or bats (as they do in the far east) or squid or eel or .... And of course when Lev 11 gets to some favorite pet animal to EAT - and says NO -- then that is when I am supposed to find a way to get out of this entire chapter against eating Dogs and Cats.

It's just a game they play.

    In Christ,

    Bob

That is true - if you were a Jew following the Word of God you could not eat your puppies and kittens.

hmm - must have been tough to be a Jew back then - huh?!!

Oh wait! The people at Sinai were not Jews - they were ISrael!!

Oh wait - ALL MANKIND at the flood - Gen 6 and 7 with the UNCLEAN animals going in by twos -- were not JEWS they were ALL MANKIND!!

Maybe they TOO were forbidden to eat puppies and kittens!

Wow! What a hard life they must have had!!

    In Christ,

    Bob

Having a pet is only idolatry if you place it above God. I've never heard this before. Pets are created by God for our pleasure. Enjoy them and praise God for their companionship.

My little 11lb dog don't belong to me. I belong to her, and if you don't believe that just ask her and she will tell you or bite you one.
